This Workout Was Barbell & Bodyweight Carnage!

Ойын-сауық

EMOM workouts can be extremely difficult.
The trick to make an EMOM workout seem easier, is to pick one challenging exercise, and simply do it for one rep, every minute on the minute.
Then in the remainder of each minute, work as hard as possible through a bodyweight circuit. This takes the pressure away from EMOM format and still allows you to get a phenomenal workout.
Here is the 25 minute EMOM workout:
As many rounds as possible of:
1 pull-up
1 2 pump bodybuilder burpee
3 squats
1 clean and press EMOM (I used 95 lbs)
00:00 The idea
01:23 The transport
25:35 The last minute
26:54 It’s officially an outro
As I said in the video, I took inspiration for this workout from the channel ‪@Emevas‬.

    Thanks Richard man. There was only the 1 barbell exercises in the EMOM. Once that barbell rep was done, I just did the bodyweight circuit for the rest of the seconds remaining in the minute. I guess I’m used to these type of bodyweight circuits. I generally do 1 pull-up, some type of burpee with 2 pushups and then 3 squats,so it goes 1,2,3. That way it’s easy for me to remember. Thanks for reciprocating the comment Richard👍!

    This is an interesting one for sure. No doubt the clean and press became harder each minute even though it was just one rep, as the shoulders fatigued. Also a sneaky way to really hit some good volume on the 1,2,3 style of pull, push and squat for bodyweight. Well performed David, great way to diversify the training!

    Enjoyed the talk! EMOMs are great because it's you against the clock. I always think that as the years go by, workouts against the clock in whatever format are essential. They are a crucial objective measure of how you are maintaining/slowing or improving over time. For me it is usually a measure of how slow I am getting😄, but you gotta keep fighting against that clock!💪 Hey...have you changed your lighting?

  • @DavidWhitten

    @DavidWhitten

    Totally agree with your thoughts on the purpose and benefits of the EMOM workouts Duncan. I appreciate you adding your thoughts man👍. And I’m curious what you noticed about the lighting? I put the camera in the window, that is behind the treadmill, for the beginning and closing talk. There were two portions of the opening chat that were not done in the window, and those were certainly darker. I use a ring light when I’m over in the basement gym at work, so it’s a lot easier to get decent lighting that way. I would alway prefer to be outside because the natural lighting is always the best. It’s been raining and windy here for the last few days so that hasn’t been an option.

  • @DavidWhitten

    Haha yeah I hear ya Derek man😉. Not so much easier overall, just easier to get the one EMOM rep completed. You still have to work like a dog for the rest of minute hey👍.

  • @BurpeesBandit
    @BurpeesBandit8 ай бұрын

    Love the idea.... for example, I find commando burpees very difficult, but doing 1 per minute with a "filler" of other exercises during the "rest" could potentially increase the reps.. do you think this applies more to resistance exercises like a weight training instead? Maybe less for burpees? Nice video mate

  • @DavidWhitten

    @DavidWhitten

    8 ай бұрын

    I think you could totally use this with a more challenging burpee (like a commando or Zulu), as opposite to a weighted or resistance exercise. You know the deal hey brother, just work hard and be consistent👍.

    Nice vid bro emoms have always been me go to form of training for any style workout. Say even barbell strict press id do a 10 min emom 5 reps @60% of my 1repmax, then 10min emom 3 reps @80% then 10 min emom 1 rep a min @90% of my 1rm 90 reps of strict press right there with adequate rest in between each set of reps! Another good emom i need to do soon is 60 min emom. Every min do 1 rep of barbell bear complex at bodyweight( look that shit up) and 5 burpees. Takes u to a real dark place. 🫡

  • @DavidWhitten

    @DavidWhitten

    8 ай бұрын

    Man both those workouts sound legit. I’ll definitely look at that bear complex. 60 minute EMOMs are so tough too. But that always a good thing, hey bro👊. When you do your strict press, do you take it off the floor, or is it up on the rack?

  • @parradox83

    @parradox83

    8 ай бұрын

    @DavidWhitten from.the rack for strict press. You can take it from the floor as a clean and strict it but the clean is using energy needed for the press. Usually if I'm cleaning it aswell then it's a clean and pushpress or push/split jerk. Then you can utilise your legs and get some proper tin over your head!

  • @DavidWhitten

    @@parradox83 ok right on man. Thank for that👊. And proper tin haha. I like that! Definitely something awesome about putting weight over your head. This was definitely “lighter” weight. First time at this so just trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Looking back I could definitely have gone heavier. Next time💪.
