I love when the cows and bulls turn around and look at you when they’re let out of the crush. I wonder whether they are saying thanks or piss off. I can’t begin to imagine how that hurt or how long it was there. Great job!!

This is just heartbreaking for this big guy!!! I can only imagine how much pain he's been in. There's so much damage caused by that piece of metal. I'm glad you were able to get it all cleaned up and hopefully he'll feel better very soon. I hope the farmer gave him an antibiotic and some pain meds till he completely mends!!! Stay blessed!!! I've had an abcess on the bottom of my foot before. Can confirm getting treated is by far the worst pain I've ever experienced and can't imagine anything worse than that. The whole emergency room heard me screaming when they operated. But damn the relief the cows feel afterward must be amazing! Oh, I'm not a cow. You're a hero dude!

I had a abscess that contained several hundred millilitres of puss on my inner upper thigh. i could barely walk by the time i got to hospital, the doctor squeezed it all out with his hands, no aesthetic, it hurt so much i was laughing. i asked him if much was coming out as i couldn't see, he said "yes, lots".

I've had one just near my buttcrack💀 That was not the only problem though. I was becoming very weak and slim. I had pain on my back but we never thought that it could be an abscess. I could not sit and I ate my breakfast standing. As my condition beacame really worse and I could not even stand, my parents took me to the hospital. My life in the hospital was literally the worst. Soon, my doctors found out that I had Chrohn's disease or something like that. Later, they cleaned the abscess and it was the best feeling in my life. It was like 2 years ago and I'm perfectly fine now.

I love how he walks out of the crush and not only looked back at you but also his next few steps were like he couldn't believe that the pain is finally gone!

I live in chronic pain from a chronic abscess condition. My heart breaks for this guy and all your cows with these painful lesions! I’m so glad you can help them. There’s so little that they do to help humans and pain relief isn’t a priority so it does me good seeing you put their comfort as a top priority!

I am so sorry..I live in full body, intractable pain. 24/7/365. It's been 10 years (again) without palliative care (I was untreated my entire childhood, though I have been in constant pain since birth). The pain alone is killing me, and I am now at "high risk" for sudden death, though I am still quite young. Untreated, chronic/intractable pain destroys the endocrine system, wears out the heart, causes heart attacks and strokes, early onset dementia, severe sleep deprivation, etc. etc....untreated pain kills. Every. Single. Time. It's the Nazi T4 program all over again. Deny vital medical care to the "incurables" and watch them "die off."

I’m fortunate that mine can be managed (I have a total of 5 autoimmune disorders and a brain tumor). I hope there will be change and break through because you lose your mind being in constant pain

I know you probably won't see this, but, your videos have really helped me the past few months. I have been going through chemotherapy for a retinal blastoma(a cancerous tumor in my eye) and actually just got home from my fourth treatment to it. I'm a pretty rare case too! normally retinal blastomas are found in really little kids, but I'm 17. Anyways, once I saw the notification that you uploaded, I just had to watch. Thank you for doing what you do, Graeme. Your channel has helped me so much. 💙💙💙 (Also,sorry if this sounds confusing, I have a hard time writing down my thoughts)

Yikes. We had a small farm with longhorns and angus. We were always scanning the fields for such things. Unfortunately fencers we hired often left old fencing remnants behind. Thankfully they were never in the feet but rather elsewhere. Wrapped around heads and bodies or legs. It’s so awful how much damage even the smallest piece can do so much damage

I can't stand it when people just leave their trash where animals are likely to get into it. Scrap metal was always such a problem at my aunt's farm. She and her husband did not practice good animal husbandry and even as a kid, it pissed me off. I remember having to sneak up on a half-blind Belgian that had a bit of old barbed wire tangled in his feathering that was slowly cutting his leg. Luckily, he was a very tolerant old boy that let me cut it out and clean his leg, despite not being much of a handled horse. He could have crushed my stupid 12-year old skull flat if he wanted. The only reason why he had contact at all with old wire is because they couldn't be bothered to dispose of the old wire when mending a fence. Sheer laziness.

Most of the Belgian I have known were usually always so sweet & intuitive. Especially around kids. I know it's frowned on now but my little brother could walk all around a team his grandpa had when he was a toddler. They were like big nanny dogs 😍

I fell into your site by accident about 4 months ago and I keep coming back to it. Now I am a city dweller and don't know zip about cows but I am learning a ton about them from you. While the trimming part is fascinating it is your knowledge that keeps me coming back. When you explain something I am amazed at the depth of your understanding and, even more, how long it must have taken you to acquire it. Now I could never work with cows, they are filthy animals and apparently pretty stupid, but you give each one a personality which makes watching much more enjoyable. Thanks for this video GP. Poor guy was in great pain and you started him on the road to recovery. I love when they look back at you like, "What happened? My feet feel different now." while he notices his feet feeling differently, and that wire was pulled out of his foot.

Ouch! Makes me think this was the kind of thing as to why my grandad always carried a small pair of plyers in his pocket - he always lived on a working farm, raised cows to show through 4-H as a kid, and even judged cattle in college. He passed away last week at the age of 92 and I wish I could have talked to him more about this kind of stuff as we didn't even know about the judging bit until we stumbled on his medallion after the funeral. Thank you for these videos, they are both entertaining and make me feel closer to my family's past - especially now.

Hey Graeme, thank you so much for your videos! Watching yours, and many others' videos have taught me SO much, even to the point I'm starting to notice cows who desperately needs a trimming. What's funny about this is I only raise and breed chickens. I also show them in exhibition poultry shows and I am trying to become an American Poultry Association certified poultry judge. Despite all of this, at my local county fair I noticed that a massive majority of the cattle there had so many issues with their hooves. I live in a small, farming community. Beef and dairy cattle are the second most common livestock that's raised here. The first being swine. So you'd think these people would take better care of their cattle, especially if they're for dairy! If I had the physical strength and time, I would SO learn how to become a hoof trimmer. Thank you so much for caring for these gentle and flighty giants, and thank you for teaching those like myself about this kind of thing, as many of us don't even realize cows, and even horses need this kind of care.

Know the feeling! I like doing jigsaw puzzles, and find myself identifying plants and animals and rocks--all kinds of things--automatically. Critiquing movies etc too. Absolutely amazing how many cattle I now notice, too....we are more informed by what we take even a passing interest in than I think we really realize. Totally fun!

He looks SO much more comfortable now. People will say “they’re just cows why do you care?” It’s simple, because they’re living breathing animals that are sharing this world with us. They deserve to be taken care of like this. Thank you for what you guys do!

Out of the amazing videos I have watched where there have been major infections, the bull that had the wire was embedded and the blocks you put on his hoofs. One he got out of the crusch (sp) he stopped and turned to view you and I truly believed he was telling you thank you. As a subscriber I want to thank you for all you do for these animals!!

We had problems at my work with stray bits of metal puncturing tires. We finally got a tool to pick that stuff up and it's helped a lot. It looks like an old school push mower, but it's a magnet. You just push it around any area that you think has nails, screws or other metal debris and it picks up most of it. Do the farmers have such a tool? It would be a good investment especially if there's been construction work going on near barns and sheds on the farm.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t happen in the wild. You can find all kinds of stuff out there. I actually found my favorite hoof pick while tracking a deer lol. If there is something that can puncture, it doesn’t matter if the animal is wild or domesticated.

For one there is no "in the wild" for cows. Cows are domesticated animals they don't exist in the wild Secondly yea, animals get injuries and it just hurts until they get killed or die. Sickly or lame animals are usually easy pray as you mention
