    That inner hoof capsule was different-looking than most of the ones in your videos. Usually they are sort of ragged-red and slightly bleeding, but this time it seemed to have a white coating under the pus. Why is that? Was the infection just caught earlier or is it because the horn was already fully separated and didn't need to be cut away?

  • @meganbarber3599

    @meganbarber3599

    Thick white pus means the infection's been going on for a long time. And if the horn is separated it needs to be cut away. Why it looked different, I don't know. I noticed that too.

    Your care for these precious cows is remarkable. The knowledge of the hoof outside and inside clues me how much training and experience have come your way. In many ways experience gives you the direction to take. I love learning and your platform has filled an empty space in my brain. If I am not sure of the point you're making, I will rewind for a second go. I am a southern American so your dialect is different yet so interesting for it has a pitch that swings up and flows down depending on your excitement level or the tone when you're teaching an important part. As for your voice it's lyrical, nonstandard, and I bet the cows find it soothing.

    OMGosh. Poor Lady. I'm so glad you came when you did Greame. That was so bad I can't stop my nose from turning up. How long will it take for all that hoof to grow back.? Was that the bone in the middle of her hoof. I hurt for her. Thank you for being so gentle. ❤️🫶❤️ North Carolina 🇺🇲

    It will take quite a while. Hoof horn grows at rate of 5mm per month, that's just over a quarter of an inch. And no it wasn't bone, Graeme isn't allowed to cut that far inside. The only time you'll see bone in a trim by Graeme is if the cow has toe necrosis which rots away the hoof, flesh and bone.

    These videos have helped me stop looking at my ingrown toenails as big problems. Could be much worse. They don't leak mayonnaise when I press on them.
