Avoiding relationships in order to dedicate your time and energy to yourself and your personal growth as a human being is so logical and I am really happy, he brought this up. That is exactly where I am at the moment. I do not want to engage in any form of romantic relationship, because at the moment that will just take time away from myself and the process, I am currently going through, to become the person I want to be. This makes me understand my own lack of interest in such things way better, so thank you for that Shetty!

Michelle Heegaard Thank you so much for sharing your thought on what Jay talked about relationship. I love your comment because you know the definition of relationship for yourself and what it takes. I think many people rush into relationship without knowing what they want from relationship. Investing time and energy in self-development is so great and actually contributes to who you're meant to be.

It's so important to know one's self. Time takes time and there is an art to allowing it to happen as opposed to making it happen. I am in the process of spiritual growth alone. Being in love with a person is such a drug and it distorts reality. Being in love with life is limitless. There is a knowing. Something in me knows when I will be ready and the time is not now. This moment is so sweet, being alone and growing, expanding cleanly and listening to what messages are coming to me. If someone were in my realm, this expansion might not happen at this rate, ikd. But, when I meet this person, I will recognize him. This knowing, there is a faith and a strong feeling that when I am ready, I will know it when I see it and feel it. Self actualization comes to those who seek it.

@@rcpenny10 Thoughts and decisions are very important, no doubt. But I believe (and I could be wrong, I will research it) that heartbeats come before the brain is ready for thoughts, and I know for a fact that heartbeats come way before we start breathing. EDIT: I checked it out. Heartbeats can be heard through transvaginal ultrasound as early as the 4th week of pregnancy. The brain is developed enough for basic senses as early as 28 weeks into the pregnancy. I think it's pretty safe to say that heartbeats come much earlier than thoughts or breathing.

I think we’re wired for generosity due to an evolutionary need be accepted within a community. Throughout human history, isolation meant death, death from the big cats, death from another tribe. Being accepted within a community meant life and still does. Therefore, generosity buys the individual credit among other members of the community. The credit equals trust. The community can then vouch for individual and say “he or she is resourceful, they’re trustworthy.” Therefore, they’re accepted and not isolated.

I love their interaction and appreciation of each other as men. I am in a place in my life where I don’t feel as though I’m reaching my true potential and I am not motivated to go for my purpose/ goals in life, whilst in a relationship. I get enough people pushing me to “go for it!”, but the motivation is just not there when you’re distracted with another person and trying to fulfil their needs and desires, while sacrificing much of your own . I wish I was the type that could do it all, but I’ve accepted that I just can’t. I have always been the most giving, most driven and most productive when I’ve been single. This video has been very inspiring and calls me to keep going for my goals and focusing on purpose so I can be a blessing to others. I have to let go of the belief that I’m being selfish by doing so.

He stole that part from buddhist teachings. Keep in mind this man comes from a nation of shysters and rapists. There's a reason women are not recommended to travel alone in india/ pakistan/ bengal/sri lanka and it's not because they're "enlightened". Hard to respect a culture where women cannot expose skin for fear of being raped. I visited this area and it is a true shithole. Contrast with equally poor or poorer south east asian nations where people are cleaner and more law abiding. It's a shame both races of people are classed as "asians" since these people with their pedophile grooming gangs have tarnished east asian people's good name and reputation for law abiding natures.

This was actually the first video I've properly checked out from Jay & taken in & was super useful to hear the persistence, pain & work it takes to achieve impact. Here's my personal takeaways & how I'm practicing them: * Meditation is about letting go, not gaining. This has really helped me re-frame things, and immediately cleared some mental blocks I'd built up. I think I'd slowly slipped into trying to "gain" peace, when you are 100% right - it's about letting go. During my practice today I really thought about guilt, anger, lust, greed, fear & letting go of any baggage I was carrying. Normally I follow the technique of Vipassana Meditation, so this was a new one that came intuitively based on that idea. * Loved what you said re: keeping your intention pure & refining it constantly. And how often that plant gets weeds around it, and then we think the weed is the plant. This made me think of which areas in my life & consciousness I've allowed weeds to cloud my waters. * On Content. Some really useful mindsets about - people need to be moved. Focus on adventure, inspiration, surprise. I'm thinking a lot right now about the balance of quantity vs quality in terms of video. I have lists of hundreds of videos I can make/have made but not put out, but this made me go deeper and consider how I can be much more strategic. * Breath is stays with you from birth to death. Nice reminder about this one - the first thing to change when your state changes in you is your breath. * Relationships slow your growth. That's why monks stay celibate. This was deep/refreshing to hear. * More broadly, just great to see what I can be & learn from someone from a similar background/interests etc. I'm inspired to go deepen my own impact with the work I do. Thanks for sharing!

Jay you offer so many teachable moments thru the telling of your story! What you thought was the most humiliating moment of being excommunicated from your supposed life purpose of being monk only translated and transformed you into your greater purpose of serving humanity. Perceived failure can be your greatest momentum of reaching your highest purpose. Your story is beautiful , profound and so inspiring. You motivated and excited me that whatever I perceived as failure is actually my next step towards success in reaching my greatest goals. Thank you. 🌸

Self-emptying love? what does that even mean? ?....You can't empty something that which spreads, runneth over and that which is infinite - that which we call love.

I'm pretty sure I saw Jay in Oxford street, London, about a year ago, he handed me a book or leaflet and introduced himself as a Monk and asked me if I knew what a Monk was (which made me laugh a little). We spoke very briefly. I respect his wisdom and honesty in this video, I have definitely gained tools I can use in my own life. Well done Jay, Keep it up!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed watching every second of this video. I may not have the experience of a monk but i believe i have a gift of insight that allows me to think about life and see it from a neutral point of view which helps me to understand and answer my everyday questions as i learn...I feel i can relate to everything Jay said even though I haven't been through what he went through to learn these things...It's a wonderful thing when you find out you are not the only one in this world with a mind, heart and soul like his and a different story to tell....Live to serve others...I love that
