George put spirituality on the map and wasn't afraid to speak up about his beliefs. All of this is true. There is truth in all religious philosophies. If everyone accepted this, there wouldn't be any wars fought today based on religion.

When I was a child my innate belief was reincarnation. I was a kid living in the country with no religious talk in my home. It made perfect sense to my 6 year old mind. The first time a friend explained god and religion to me I though he was just messing with me because it sounded so ridiculous, like a fairy tail. I think I was right back then, and nothing has changed my mind in the 66 years I have now lived.

George was the kindest person so humble we were like children w chords, chord changes for years up un il the end. He was there for me when I lived with him Jeff and was losing so much blood had to face huge surgery So George Tried to instill courage like Arjuna an Indian god that I’d never heard of. Sweet George. Gentle. Man.

I was too young and grew up in a situation where the only exposure i had to the Beatles was the radio in the car and sometimes the tv or records at an older friends house. But when I play the songs now, I know every word, and as an adult I have come to realize that nobody I know really appreciated them for the incredible insight and spiritual gifts they tried to make available for everyone by exposing the common threads of all belief systems. They were so much more than the awesomely beautiful British boy band that transformed popular music in the USA into something the post-war youth could be excited about. Personally, I was raised up on big bands and folk and country music, and I know many of that generation of artists, and that music is eternal and something that we should preserve and always celebrate. But the Beatles let kids define themselves separately from their parents in a new world that had changed drastically since the war of their parents generation. And now I am sad because they are gone and I only just recently figured them out and really wish I could know them and remember them better. I can't choose a favorite one now, though it's always been Ringo. I liked to bang on things when I was a kid. Drums were cool. But now with all the history available, I see each one as necessary to the message they brought the entire world. We are all lonely spirits looking for the love we knew the last time we traveled this area of the Galaxy. Few are able to find it, and then there's always something missing because it's just not the same world and lifespans are ridiculously short and filled with tragedy. But if there's a chance it's really a loop and we might return to the past, I'm going to England next time and I'll be with them when they get off the plane in NYC. I'm going to have fun, too. ❤

I met George on Maui in 1977. The next day he went to Hana with my boss and hangers-on and he slipped and literally cracked his skull open. I would have been his guide if not for Bob Longhi, who died years ago and the restaurant burned down (Lahaina) last year. George and I said nothing. I was young and stupid and had no words but I did an excellent spit-take with a mouthful of potatoes. That got a big smile from George. I met Ringo in 1990. Many George songs in my repertoire.

Unfortunately George Harrison spread his love around " too much"....the extreme heartbreak of his wife due to his infidelity was devastating, but indeed looking at the other side of the coin this was a big lesson for her to raise her self esteem and to heal and choose someone more worthy of this lovely lady. George was a very soulful musician and brought a level of beauty and brilliance to the music industry!

At 5 years old, I received my first Beatles album in 1966. At that point in time, in retrospect, none of them really stood out from another...meaning they all shared time on the tracks of the album. Lead vocals were traded off, depending on the track. It appears the album I had was version 2 of Introducing The Beatles...but I remember the one I had was with the album cover with their faces with the black background, yet in wiki it shows that album with them posing in suits...I wonder if I had a counterfeit? I dunno...regardless, it had these songs on it: 1. "I Saw Her Standing There" McCartney 2:50 2. "Misery" Lennon with McCartney 1:48 3. "Anna (Go to Him)" (Arthur Alexander) Lennon 3:00 4. "Chains" (Gerry Goffin, Carole King) Harrison 2:25 5. "Boys" (Luther Dixon, Wes Farrell) Starr 2:28 6. "Ask Me Why" Lennon 2:24 Total length: 14:55 Side two No. Title Lead vocals Length 1. "Please Please Me" Lennon with McCartney 2:00 2. "Baby It's You" (Burt Bacharach, Mack David, Barney Williams) Lennon 2:41 3. "Do You Want to Know a Secret" Harrison 1:59 4. "A Taste of Honey" (Ric Marlow, Bobby Scott) McCartney 2:05 5. "There's a Place" Lennon and McCartney 1:53 6. "Twist and Shout" (Phil Medley, Bert Russell) Lennon 2:33 Total length: 13:11 The above found in wiki, not only shows the song writers, but also shows who took lead vocals. I'm turning 63 this year, so that was a while back, for sure. Just making the point that it appears that most, if not, all Beatles albums had a standard that everyone in the band had at least one track that they were the featured vocalist. I think this kept the albums interesting. I put this album together of stuff either I, or friends, or family members wrote, but, depending on the song, I would sing with different approaches, in order to not quite sound the same from song to song. McCartney is very good at it...I mean Why Don't We Do It In the Road is approached completely different vocally vs, say, I Will...still McCartney, but way different vocal approach....anyway, I'm getting all Beatles blah blah blah here. Thanks for posting this about George, and hope you and yours are doing great!
