Mistborn is honestly 'chef's kiss'. So glad you liked it! You're in for a wild ride for the rest of the trilogy because the second you start to think you understand everything, all your beliefs will be ripped from you and you'll be left utterly shocked, or at least that's how it was for me! Even the second book, I really hit a lull (like usually happens with second books in trilogies), then BAM! He just hits you with earth shattering knowledge and drama and a rollercoaster of emotions. The end of the last book is still one of the most amazing endings to a book I've ever seen, and I read this series a decade ago. It's one of those ending where you stop and think 'what even is life? Why does anything even matter?'. Sanderson just ripped up my heart into a thousand tiny pieces and throws it away without a care in the world (actually that's wrong, he goes to write another book) and I'm left to stare aimlessly into the void wondering if I'll ever be the same. That's very dramatic, but that's how I felt when finishing this series. In saying all that... the Mistborn trilogy is the best trilogy that Sanderson has done, in my opinion. Even the second Mistborn trilogy (Wax and Wayne) is not has impactful... and I say that whilst seriously enjoying every single book he has ever written. This is coming totally from vibes. The Mistborn Trilogy I think is the best books he's ever written, because it made such an impact on me (as above), but I still absolutely love all his other books. I think it's helpful to keep in mind that every book has its own place and own story, and is going to be very different from Mistborn, and you'll be fine. The Stormlight Archive series I think will be a second best, but I'm not even going to attempt to finish it until the rest of the series is out (made the mistake of starting it and couldn't continue after book 2). What I'm trying to say is.. a lot of Sanderson's works are 5 stars, but Mistborn is probably the only 6 star that I've read, one of only two book series that have ever been granted 6 stars from me. I look forward to seeing you finish the trilogy, simply to see your reaction to the end of Hero of Ages. Whatever you're guessing it could be, it's not even close. You will not even be able to guess it until the very last second, something that's very difficult to achieve in books these days. FYI not all of Sanderson's books are part of his Cosmere... once you go down the rabbithole of Sanderson, it sucks you in and there's so much to learn!

I was looking forward to this video soooooo much ! I started Mistborn yesterday, and I feel the same way than u, everybody hyped it up for me, saying this was going to change my life. Going through the first 150 pages was so hard, and I wanted to stop. But seeing you enjoy it that much, I'm going to give it a try and keep reading ! My next read is going to be Hellbent I think, or maybe a palette cleanser if needed after mistborn haha. Thanks for your videos

I’m not like in need to start the next book immediately, but I know I’ll for sure continue the series after I’ve tackled some more of my current physical TBR! I would for sure recommend a palette cleanser between mistborn and hellbent 😂

First, this is a great video idea, I might make one like this soon. I'm reading the Mistborn trilogy right now, I'm about 70% of the way through The Well of Ascension and totally obsessed. I was the same, I was so intimidated to pick up the first book, but it was such a great read! I think my TBR is going to get totally trumped by Sanderson books now lol. 😅 (I also kept thinking of Kell from a Darker Shade of Magic so it's not just you Lol! And Vin did remind me of Lila in a lot of ways.)

I've put myself on a book buying ban for the rest of the month :P

I am about to start reading Tress of the Emerald Sea and it will be my first Brandon Sanderson book. My friends and my husband are all obsessed with his writing, so there is so much pressure for them to be amazing. I’m glad to hear Mistborn was a 5 star. I’m very particular about books I give 5 stars to… so it’s been a while since I gave one out. I did finish Fourth Wing and that was almost a 5 star read for me.

Hmmm my most recent 5* (more of a 4.5 tbh) was Empire of the Damned by Jay Kristoff (2nd in the Empire of the Vampire series), but for a real 5* read then it would have to be The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson which I reread a couple of weeks ago! Mistborn I also loved when I read it, but I personally think that the Way of Kings is even better so really recommend that one! Definitely agree about having to wait a bit before getting into high/epic fantasy novels- I feel like each time I read a new one I have to mentally prepare myself for initial confusion and push onwards before finally getting into it- by far the longest I've taken to get into a book without DNF-ing was with The Malazan Book of the Fallen (10 book epic fantasy series that averages at around 1000 pages per book and has some of the longest character lists I've seen), but that series is now one of my all-time favourites! I'd recommend trying The Way of Kings next after you finish Mistborn, then if you enjoy the complexity and length then look into The Malazan book of the Fallen :))) (though you might want to take a break between those- the Bear and the Nightingale is a slightly more relaxed, fairytale-ish series that I think you'd really love :))
