This Train Goes Onto The Ground After Switching Alter Metal!

Ойын-сауық

You might find me funny, waiting for a train that never comes after dropping off the rails (derailing) behind the Iron Mountain, MI Cemetery... I was beginning to wonder WHY they stopped where they did..
After I filmed them near Alter Metal I was waiting at H Street where they never arrived. I figured it was just a short day, and got ready to be here early Thursday morning to find.... ELS 501 was leading and some how managed to stay on the tracks, however ELS 503 wasn't as lucky along with one mega log hauler with the trucks on a second on off too.

Thank the Lord that their derailments have been small. One exploding tank car and this railroad could be history. This railroad cannot continue to cut corners on track maintenance. There is no excuse. This railroad does several times the business of the Cincinnati Southern RR, where Jawtooth lives. This little railroad has relatively good ties and 132 pound rail, mostly welded. And it has good ballast. They can get secondhand 132 or 136 pound rail for the main and secondhand 115 or 119 pound rail for the secondary and yard tracks. They can get some recycled wood ties and regular wood ties for the worst spots in the track. I don’t pretend that they do what the Florida East Coast has done with new 136 and 141 pound rail, concrete and wood ties, signals, PTC, etc. I don’t pretend that they make the E&LS good for 110 MPH passenger trains and 70 MPH freight trains. But at least make the track good for 25 MPH and keep the trains on the track.

Patch-jobs for locomotives (which means poor advertising from cheapskate execs), some employees having poor people skills (from what I saw on one of Jason's videos) and not very good pay from the reviews I read online about this company. Wouldn't surprise me if they probably took down all of their block signals (to cut costs in maintenance - another cheapskate move) and I also wouldn't be surprised if this cheap railroad company even removed 99% of their automated crossing signals in exchange for wooden crossbucks. Add it all together and it sounds like a slack a$$ make-shift railroad to me. Gives Class 3 railroads a bad name IMO.

Of all the possible derailing scenarios, this is probably the most preferable. Nothing tipped over, caught fire or caused injuries and that is its own blessing. A few hours delay is a small price to pay when it could have been far worse.

The length of those trains in America are insane. I was posted from the UK to America. Lived for a while in Postage near Kalamazoo. The railroad ran through the middle of the town. Had in to wait for up to a half hour for a train to pass was not unusual. Not unusual but madness just the same.

I'll take the 67 degrees down here in NW FL over your 47 degrees. On the other hand, most of our trees stay green with the exception of the Hickory trees. We have no railroads in my area, but have two Air Force Basses very close by. Hurlburt AFB, and Eglin AFB, of which Hurlburt is part of Eglin being that it is Aux Field #9. There are 2 fields that the Navy uses, The Army Rangers have field #6 and an outlying area called Camp Rudder. Eglin AFB's total land miles is 824 Sq land miles and water ranges that go to Key West. If that gives you an idea of just how big the Eglin facility really is.

I released the restraints then ran to the bathroom to keep my teeth from drowning. I was in midstream when a loud crash knocked me backwards from the urinal and I couldn’t stop the flow. I almost screamed trying to crimp. Thought the loader dropped the covers on my trailer. Turns out a bad rail dropped beneath a loaded railcar and WHAM! I felt so bad I mopped up the splattered piss from the wall and floor.

Eventually, they're going to have a derail where the rail will separate from the ties and it will have to be replaced, it will cost 100x more then if they just replaced ties and rail to begin with.
