This Freight Train STOPS To Wait For This Car! What Was It?
Ойын-сауық
Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad ELS 402 and ELS 502 were coming thru Granite Bluff, MI until they just suddenly stopped for no reason until a car pulled up and delivered something the crew needed to proceed? This was a first for me, never seen the train stop like this before

It was a Friday, they wanted their pay checks! 😄
That crossing at Granite Bluff is a perfect spot to film trains.
A nice long train that stopped then went on with an orange freddy on the back of this train thanks Jason good one !
Jason this was an amazing catch thanks and I also love to hear the sound of the EMD's wave up wow 🙂
A nice video, Jason. Thank you! 😊
Famous last words, “I can move faster than the train!”
The only delay in replacing the crossing is the bosses of the railroad using the money to go play golf.
A "that-a-boy" love letter from the boss. 😁 Lucky timing for you!!👍🇺🇲
Awesome video! Love the closeup of the train and tracks
Good video Jason. Beautiful country too.
Deferrred maintenance! All right all right!
Maybe Hobo Shoestring is on one of those Graingers 😅
I enjoyed that video👍👍
Pretty cool love your train 🚂🚂🚂🚂 video from Indiana rock and roll 😅😊😂
Jason another fine video
It's got to be the weekend roster for the crew.
I didn't see a Pizza Hut sign on top of the car, so it probably was paperwork. Surprising that it is not handled electronically these days.
Looks like train orders were brought to the train. Either they missed the train orders board at the stick, or the trainmaster changed his mind about what he wanted them to do.
there is another railfan that filmed this turn but I can’t remember , nice !
Love the blue locomotives!❤️❤️❤️
I've been seeing what looks like the same grain hoppers in the last few videos!😮
Maybe the crew was instructed to stop and wait for new orders since the next crossing was in seven miles.
7:07 - "HYPE" comes into view just as you say it !
Nice to see old Conrail motive power still in use.
Probably got in trouble for that log falling off waaaaay back there!
Trains are getting longer. 🚂🚂
What a catch...💯👍
Loved seeing all that freshly cut wood. Wonder how much was there. Never seen that before. Especially like the wfrx freight cars which for those who don't know it's from wells Fargo railroad
So many brand new, shiny hopper cars. Wow. Big investment by ELS
Great video/ another aspect of railroading
Maybe he was picking up paperwork for a underground sting. 😮
That paperwork was just a standard way bill.
And it didn't look like TP. Since all the catalogs have gone to slick sheets they don't have Sears and Roebuck in the "Wooden Throne Room".😁🤭
good train video
Yes, the wood was laying in the railroad track way in the beginning
It was the trains extended warranty he was receiving 😂😂
2 engines' and 54 cars
They got a order update as probably warning of something.
Thanks Jason.
Conrail has been gone for 24 years, but that paint job persists...

CONRAIL WILL NEVER DIE AND IT WILL LIVE ON!
The flanges on the one side are clean, the other side is chock full. They both should be clean like the one side is.
I've been watching your videos for a while 😁 I believe you're in the upper part of Michigan that's a pretty country from the great state of Ohio
That paperwork was the To-Go menu from a local burger joint.. lol......
Dedication Jason!
I thought for sure the engineer would have given a nice friendly hand wave, what a “dink”!!!

Paperwork said. Approved to carry fire wood.
They got their kickback from the panhandlers at Walmart. Due to the high number of cars for LP at maybe a revised switch list as to which cars to leave and which ones go to Channing or to pick up some Select Cars. A personal note from Afroman?
The "first world" 😂😂😂
Wonder why 402 hasn't been turned. If the control stand is like the GP7 & GP9, it is behind the engineer. It's not all that easy to run a train when the throttle, gouges, speedometer, bell control, etc. are behind you.

It's not all that hard to run an engine with the controls behind you just means you have to turn your head around and see the speed you are going or the air gauges. I have run engines long hood forwards alot in my life .
*_smiles at classic Yooper accent_*
👍👍👍👊👊
Way cool ❤
Great video. Long train for two engines. Great close-up view as well. Loved watching a train start with such a long load. Just paper work, as you said is all I think it is. Subscribed!
😊👍👍👍
Whatever it was, it’s certainly not something you see every day.
Cool 👍🏻
" Passports Please....Eh? "
They were missing an important guest on the train, a Mr. Green…
Bringing him his lunchbox that he'd forgotten.
thousands of tons of freight, so cool!

See it as many as six times a day here where I live, from 5 a.m. through 3 a.m. Freight of all kinds. Gets so nobody notices the trains unless they don't come through---then we notice the silence. They're not obnoxious to hear, just so on-schedule, we notice when they're not there (such as major holidays, mostly). My apartment is only about 900 feet from the tracks.
I wonder if it's track condition? Even if it doesn't seem any, worse than anywhere else....
My dad would do that.Give them their orders.
The narration is perfect love the commentary
Interesting.
You have a lott to teach Scandinavia regarding Freight Trains
I wouldn't stand any closer than about 50 feet. I want a running head start in case one of those cars decides to leave the rail. A tank car came off the tracks a few days ago and fell sideways on the crossing. On;y took a few seconds. RUN FAST!
Is it Geepers or Jeepers?? Asking for a friend 😁
Maybe he knows there is something wrong with the track. I can’t believe they would not have warn them there was a problem. The guy said there was a hold up in fixing track.
Hay Jason I love this video we had two yards where I lived that loaded pulp Woodlake what your train was carrying our yards shot down back in the 198os.
This was a great video of a wood and grain transfer
Oops, forgot to turn on the headlight and ditch lights!
Those sd sounded GREAT!! This micro speaker dancing all over my table top! 😱

Actually that was the guy from the company that sold them the loco's. He was delivering the Repossession Orders and where to take the loco's too, so they could take them back.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
They were lost and needed directions :)
Cd be speed restrictions ahd...flag protection at crossing...or possibly new trk work ahd ...
It was a Mercedes S66 luxury sedan which indicates the person boarding is on official company business, such as a crew auditor or a supervisory track engineer getting real world eyes on a section of track that has been problematic to public safety or railroad operator's lost revenue perhaps? If it were only for paperwork as you suggest, the gy would have just dropped them off from a company pickup truck. Being from western NY, I miss the Conrail era. Always loved seeing the Conrail Blue locos.

None of this is correct. Supervisors do not get Mercs. Most likely a supervisor bringing updates to hazardous billing or updated train orders. Source, I have been an engineer for a class 1 RR for 30 years. Why are you just making stuff up?
Tey probably left the mill without the consist paperwork and it was brought to them.
My guess: the drivers had left their engine driver´s licenses in their lockers :)
What notice a lot up north in the upper peninsula, some tracks are parallel to some roads for miles
@jb6712
Жыл бұрын
Same here. Tracks run about 900 feet from my apartrment, and the road I usually take to come home from the next city to me runs within mere yards of the RR tracks. The tracks do veer around and through a lot of farming properties, the farmers having allowed that for decades, but then they come right back next to the roads. To be fair, if the farmers from long ago hadn't allowed the railroad to build the tracks on the high fields, the trains couldn't have come into town at all. The hills here are far higher and steeper than any train could handle, and it would have destroyed some very valuable land to have blown it up with dynamite just to make a way for the tracks to be laid. In other words, everyone benefitted when the railroad worked out the right-of-use deals they did decades ago.
Paperwork was directions and and old map. Come on we all knew that.
It maybe a revision of his general orders or manifest
After one stops, it takes a while to get going again. Theydo that near me sometimes.

They brought the conductor waybills. A big train for Sd-40s.
Bench Warrent!!😂
C.O.D. paperwork....❓
Did you know there were 1164 track derailments in the USA in 2022. In China there were two 8th march and 4th June. China has the new maglev train and at 100mph you can stand a coin on its edge on the window sill.
Messing up the schedule. .
How often do you get a train at this location?
Is it me or what! the diameter of some of the logs is pretty small... maybe they clear branches to the tip of the tree or they cut a very tinny tree if so, what is the future of the forest in northern Michigan?
