This Time Paradox Scares Scientists - And It's Not Looking Good!

When time reaches its limits, scientists call those moments "singularities." These can mark the start or end of time itself. The most famous singularity is the big bang, which happened around 13.7 billion years ago, kicking off the universe and time as we know it. If the universe ever stops expanding and starts collapsing, it could lead to a reverse of the big bang called the big crunch, where time would stop.

One statement is incorrect. Entropy affects open and closed systems, irrespectivelly. The only difference is that in a closed system the entropy can temporarily work in reverse providing that mechanical work is available provided from another subsystem.

Decades ago, in an essay science fiction author Larry Niven postulated that while time travel to the past might be possible, changing the past definitely wouldn’t be. If someone could travel to the past and change history at will, a situation would be established where the universe would have no stability, with prior events continually being overwritten as if they had never been. This state of affairs could only be different - *will* only be different - in a scenario where the past was changed which resulted in a universe where no time machine ever was or will be invented, by any species. What do I know, but I think he makes a pretty good case.

@@kaoskronostyche9939 I’m not sure, as it’s been decades since I read it. I can say, though, that it was meant to be taken more as a whimsical thought experiment than as serious science. He points out, for example, that any time traveling civilization would require new ways of expressing the passage of time in the English language, including a past future tense (“Just a little something I picked up a million years in the future”) and a future past tense (“Let’s meet at the battle of Waterloo in an hour”). Pretty fun stuff.

The only thing we can hope to do with travel to the past is to create an alternate time line. Example you go back to an hour before the Titanic hits the berg and stop the disaster, nothing will change in the timeline you have come from however you can choose to stay where you are and live out your life in a timeline without the disaster or go back to the one with the disaster. Otherwise some people would start vanishing others would just pop out of nowhere, everything would start to unravel slowly then very quickly exponentially there would be nothing.

There would be an alternate time line starting the moment she saw the message in the reflector with the modifications.

Now, humanity is basically impossible to destroy by its own inhabitants, which has reached the decillions.

Human being cannot conquer counter flow by itself. That's true. There would be a lot of obstacles on the way, not taking into account the power of current itself. However, if we took a ship powered by several extremely powerful engines, it would be practically feasible to overcome almost any meeting current. Ancient people wasn't able to go against the stream. Contemporary people can. Why? Because we have technology that allows us to execute such an endeavour. Hence, maybe and it's a big "MAYBE" if we had sufficiently advanced technology that allows us to vanquish the flow of time, we would be able to actually "go back in time". P.S. This is just an arbitrary reasoning regarding the analogy with the flow of a river.

"Time" is a method of measuring events as they happen. Events are just the flow of physical energy flowing or "happening". You cannot go back, physical particles/matter move at differing rates but never "rewinding". The physical rates of events are governed by speed of the events so "time" seems to differ in some instances. Such as a space ship travelling at the speed of light seems to slow the rate of "time" for the ship. But it just changes the rate of events for the particles within the ship compared to the particles that are not going the same speed as the ship. But that's just how I've understood it as a fluid flow of physical events. It just can't flow backwards to "rewind" physical being.

A Type VII or K7 civilization would travel, transcend and potentially encompass the omniverse which is the collection of every single universe, multiverse, megaverse, paraverse, 11d dimension and 1st realm (reality). It is likely that such power would come from an individual rather than a civilization, as the civilization would have transcended and merged into a single mind that would encompass all thoughts and all timelines, thus being omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient within the confines of the 11 dimensions of the omniverse. Such a being is godly, but not to be confused with the Creator who is the ultimate supreme being outside of reality.

Time passes slower for the observer in the presence of high gravitational field but it's faster relatively. As the universe expands time is ultimately slowing It's passage not increasing its speed. Where gravity is higher space time is compressed therefore it actually passes faster. It all depends on experience or and observer and which perspective you are speaking from

You seem to assume there will only be one timeline, with whatever causality loops beside/around - I think it a fundamental mistake, I think every possibility uniquely happens somewhere in a 5th dimension, both choices always happen, though we only see the 4rth dimensional perspective (right choices only - though they often seem wrong) we often imagine, predict and remember a 5th, color is how we perceive 3 and energy 2 but time (1) is fundamental to all things so they can change, and the 0th is what matters - where all is one omni-point - signifying ultimately everything results to a causal (toroidal?) loop.... and fractalizes. entropy is a lie (or at least entirely backwards), the CMB is at a state of maximal entropy and we are near a minimal, the birth of ASI (after which minimal may grow exponentially deeper if left unchecked lol). good vid tho - I see you payed for pro usage :D kzread.info/dash/bejne/laKB0bKHZtXJc8Y.html

If you actually go back in time for some reason, you would have eliminated the thing that inspired you to build it in the first place and, therefore, would not get inspired to build it. It's a paradox.

In addition the First Law of Thermodynamics also prevents time travel to the past. Moreover, you cannot have a meaningful discussion about time without including a meaningful discussion of space. We live in spacetime, the fabric of our universe.

Not a scientist - How can the human construct of time as we imagine it possibly affect anything. It was developed by us as a simple measuring tool, It doesn't exist.

Every present moment is a past moment. Our consciousness is only aware of the past. But unlike those that conclude this disallows any form of free will in my view are incorrect. Our future selves are in fact making choices that we will eventually witness and experience.

Imagine an inventor who creates time travel and then decides to go back in time tell himself how to create a time machine but then adds to change this one event in his future life where he learned about time travel publicly thus allowing a competitor to create it and tell himself to go back and tell future self to do the same thing does that mean you'd be able to change the future by continuing that looping ➿➿➿?

But why waste your imagination on such blatant idiocy!!!? Our imagination has a much more useful function than imagining paradoxes. Let's imagine that we all love each other intelligently. And let's make what we imagine together come to life. ☮❤
