    I’ve been listening to every episode of Lew Later for over a year now. It motivated me to start my own podcast, so I’m looking up reviews for the h6 to start my setup, and how fitting is it that Lew is also helping me pick the equipment.

    I have been using the ZOOM h2N for several years and recorded over 1500 recordings on it of my band, bass, drums, guitar, keys and everyday sounds too. Now I have upgraded to the ZOOM H6 and it is a HUGE step up! It does have some downsides vs the old h2N (the H6 is not as sturdy with the software and is very finnicky and fussy vs the h2N which you can play rough with it) Apart from that it is a great solid beast to use!

I find this setting kills a lot the dynamics of microphone... pls answer ;)

    Mid-Side is a wide stereo format if converted properly. The benefit is that if you expect some listeners to be hearing the recording in mono (radio etc) is that phase cancellation becomes less of a problem. Technically; A cardiod microphone records what is happening in front, the "side" microphone is a figure-8 diaphragm perpendicular to the front, recording both sides equally. To acheive stereo the F8 channel is panned hard L&R and inverted on one side so when played in mono they cancel out.

    Thanks for the video. I'm trying to connect the Ronalds CS-10EM binaural headphones. I placed the red 3.5 mm minijakc on the Y connector (2 normal output jacks) to record each channel separately and put the black on the headphones. In this way, I hear a background noise that increases when I increase the gain. Phantom is connected and configured with 12 V because they are condenser microphones. I do not know how to eliminate this noise. I need to record with these headphones. Any information will be useful. Thank you.

    Yeah this recorder's pretty good. My friend Neal Ewers has 1. Only problem is it doesn't talk. Now this isn't a problem for all blind people especially if they've just had to sadly suck it that these things never spoke in the past like Neal has had to, but for me it is. I get lost if the menus don't talk on the machine like they do on the Olympus DM recorders and some LS ones. I could use this and I do like the 6 mikes thing cause that's 5.1 dude. But I'd ask a sighted person to set it up for me and then I'd just have to be happy with it and forget it. Cause I wouldn't really be able to dive into menus until the sighted person that helped me originally came back or someone else helps me. I wish these guys would learn from Olympus. I really wish Sound Devices would learn their lesson from Olympus.

  • @christianskyes

    @christianskyes

    4 жыл бұрын

    That doesn't seem to be the case yet. You still have to use a separate input for each track, which means you can't use the X/Y or MS capsule. I suspect each track has to be mono, if you choose to overdub, hence the issue.

    Shure SM7B tends to be one of the more popular podcast microphones, but you can use anything really. All you need to do is plug in the microphones and press record. Some condenser microphones require Phantom Power, which you can turn on for each of the four inputs on the Zoom H6.
