Absolutely fantastic review. Every time a question would occur to me, you would answer it. I even wondered what the inside of the carrying case looked like, and then you showed us. I am upgrading from a H4n Pro to the H6. This review just completely validated my purchasing decision, and also flattened my learning curve once the H6 arrives. Thank you!!

The only thing I saw wrong with this review, when he's using the mid side mic, the middle mic is not pointed the way he's holding it. The mid mic is pointed straight, at the top of the mic, as if you had it mounted on a DSLR pointing straight and the left and right are on those sides. Even though though it may not look that way due to the way it's designed. One might think the front is the front of the mic like a vocal mic, that's actually the top.

Channel 3 for example to make one synced audio file. So if I’m recording from the LR channel and channel 3 at the same time how do I put those 2 channels together on the zoom h6 without having to do it In post?

Hi, if I want to connect to my DJM and record my mix to capture the stereo effects of Left and Right sample, should I use the Track 1-4 input or should I use the input from the XY mic capsule? I read somewhere that the input for the XY mic capsule offer a true stereo recording whereas the Track 1-4 input doesn’t and could not accept a Stereo TRS plug. Can you confirm on this? Thanks

What do you recommend for recording on DJM 900/2000 Nexus the H4N or the H6 which one gives better sound quality? and is the quality better if I record on H4N/H6 or direct in rekordbox via the soundcard of the mixer (Audio A10)? Do I still need an attenuator to record from my mixer on H6?

In the h4 you use to be able to plug your guitar straight in and the zoom h4 had guiter effects. In this model ive read it has no guitar effects and you cant plug a guitar straight in unless your going through say a pedal. I i record some power chords into the h6 can i hear the playback of those power chords and still hear my pedal comming through the h6 to play some lead over the chords or when it plays back are the inputs audio disabled so you can only hear playback and thats it.

Question. If you have all 4 of the XLR ports filled does this make different tracks for each one? I want to record comedy sets but I want to be able to control the audio from the crowd laughing (using the top mic) to controlling the levels of the comedians mic from a XLR input. So I can mix them together my self or does this only make one master mix?

  • @rigel2112

Each input has a separate track. The attached mic produces one stereo track for those while the other 4 create separate mono tracks. So if you use everything you end up with 4 mono and one stereo track.

It's a stereo input, provided only on the X-Y mic head. It takes over the 2 channels (L-R) normally used by the mic. I use it as one of the options to record the 2-channel (L-R) output from my mixer for direct recording, sometimes in combination with a separate mic plugged into one of the H6's XLR input channels to pick up the room ambience for the recording. When you don't need to use the H6's mics for your recording, this setup frees up all 4 channel inputs for other feeds, instead of taking 2 channels for 2-channel input from the mixer.

I connected my iPad to H6 and using a 1/8" male to dual XLR male cable and recorded a song from a DAW app on iPad into H6 but the sound came out like mono. The sound on my iPad from the DAW app when listened through headphones plugged into iPad is clearly a stereo as I have an audio song track in it but when recorded to H6, it sounds like mono. I tried both 320 KBPS in MP3 format also 24 bit/96 kHz WAV format with no luck. Also, listened to the recorded audio on the card on my Mac but it still sounds crappy and mono. Can you please help me how to record the sound in stereo exactly as how it sounds on the iPad? TIA

Hi, I just got my H6 and was trying to figure out how to make a record of a sound clip from my macbook pro via the macbook pro’s headphone out into my H6 Track 2 in. I set the track 2 input gain at level 5 and did not switch the pad to -20db. I had accidentally leave the volume of my macbook at maximum level and the sound was input into my H6 track 2. The H6 is peaking and my headphone out from my H6 is screaming Chris Issac’s Wicked Game… I could hear it loud and clear even when my headphone is on my desk… I turn it off almost immediately after I realize my mistake My question is, will this somehow damage my H6’s preamp or anything else inside? Also is it possible to damage just one track 2 input of the H6 and everything else still work for track 1,3 &4? Everything seems to be fine after I did a test but I am just worried that I had caused some damage to the unit. Also I had got myself a EXH6 XLR capsule for the H6 and notice that the recording from the EXH6 sound more loud compare to the H6 build in input even when they are at the same gain level. Is it normal?

Hi Kosmic, great video! I have a question, I own myself a Zoon H6 and I've been trying to use it with many different SD cards without any luck. The only one that works is the original one, which is microSD and only 2 gigas. I heard you mention that this model accepts many more different type of card and then you said something like "Of course OSD cards". I couldn't understand it but I guess in those words is the secret I am looking for... :-) Would you be so kind of telling me which type of SD cards should I use... Thanks a lot!

  • @krane15

The microSD that comes with the unit is among the cheapest cards made. If an upgraded microSD or SD isn't working then you have other issues -- Maybe your adapter is bad? Anyways, I've used quality SD cards and microSD and they all work.

I have a rather technical question about the H6....I hope the way I explain it won't confuse you...if it does, let me know and I will try to clarify better... Ok, I'm a singer and my main goal for using this device is using it in a way that I can record directly from my PC sound card into the recorder....Upload that audio track to my video editor...then record vocals on another track and then upload that...thus making a 2 track recording in the video editor...that way it sounds cleaner than just blasting stereo speakers and recording everything through the XY mic that comes with the unit...I don't think it is possible...I could be wrong, but I was sure hoping this would work...that was my ultimate goal in buying the unit to begin with. I hope that does not confuse you...I'm just really let down by what seems to be a huge problem for me! Any advice?? Thanks 😀

Hey, I've been having a weird "watery" noise problem with my Zoom H6 and I got it changed, only to have a unit that has the same problem. Basically it's about some noise that can be distinctively heard in the headphones when at full volume, and when the XY capsule knob is set to 1-4.... I made a video about it. Please, if any of you own a copy, please test it for this problem, it's (kind of) easy to overlook it, and give me some feedback. Maybe I (we) can get to the bottom of this. Kosmic So how does that actually work in practical terms? If I want to mix six channels separately in a software suite (I use Audition) would I then just attach the H6 to the usb connector and upload SIX different files that is tagged differently?

  • @thankyoumisterspell

    @thankyoumisterspell

    9 жыл бұрын

ventende You can do it two different ways. If you're using the H6 as an audio interface, your computer will recognize each input as a separate track (up to six separate tracks if you use the two-input attachment). If you're using the H6 on its own without a DAW then it'll store up to six separate tracks depending on how many inputs you're using and which attachment you have on top. Say you're recording a drum kit with six microphones, once you hit record it will start six different tracks and record simultaneously. You can then import those tracks into your DAW and mix the audio as needed. Or, you just use it as an interface straight into Audition.

The hn4 is a better recorder for making demos by far. With the H6 you have to use a different mic input for every track thats just stupid. You have good sounding mics on the recorder but there only good for the L and R tracks. There's no way to mix down a track and put it in to a new project. When over dubbing the recording always starts from the begging. How do you record multiple takes of a guitar solo do you have to listen to the whole song from the beginning? No amp simulations.
