I recently made a video on the awful Soviet rental apartments of Russia and also made a tour of my own Russian apartment, which was $200 a month. In today's video we're going to look at an even bigger bargain - a Soviet Babushka flat capturing the essence of the USSR, which will run you $150 a month in rent. And trust me - it's something quite special. Bald and Bankrupt will approve. Smash like and sub for more content thx xoxo

@@peervermeiren8902 Here's what's happening. Most of the people in Romania have low paying jobs. That's why they're moving abroad to get jobs. Some of these guys are really, really smart, so they land a very good tech job, that pays hundreds of thousands of euros. When these guys come back to Buc and start looking for a place to settle down, it drives the market. Sadly, it drives the market in a horrendously skewed way. But at long last it _is_ bringing more euros into the Romanian economy, which will benefit Romanians in the end. Or so they hope. Anyway, so when Romanian land owners see that people are coming home _rich_ they set up prices, hoping to cash in a little on the guys coming back. And so you've got the economy of early adopters going abroad, with secondary effects in the Romanian real estate market. I'm wildly oversimplifying, of course.

This is great large apartment. Especially for one person. I can't say if $150 is cheap or expensive - sounds cheap but I'm not familiar with the salaries and cost of living in your city. Love the details like the sofa with the table and secret compartment. I was happy about the content and timing of your video. A few days ago I (originally from Germany) tried to describe to my boyfriend (from here, England) flats in which i was typically waiting for my grandmother to get over with her visit to this strange world (with nothing to do for me.) Theses flats that are from a world that's passed, I wasn't making myself very clear, and there you are with a 'Babushka' flat. I literally thought that they went with their owners, grandmothers, grandaunts, great grandaunts, friends of my grandmother in any case. I was always fascinated by the dark flats with dark furniture, different flower patterns everywhere... (I'm from a family with minimalist taste... )

Roman, These babushka apartments are far better than the inhabitants expected from life. They had to work five years at a factory to get in the line for a new apartment. Those tapestries represent 20 years of labor, and Hedrick Smith told of the notorious line in downtown Moscow for one. It lasted for three solid days just to sign up to get one. Then, everyone waited in two more lines before delivery. You should put this in context of what their lives were actually like.
