Hey everyone! In this video I am yet again joined by my Georgian friend Gattsu. Last time we collabed we made a Slavic Country Tier List and it was a lot of fun! Today we are going to rate every single post Soviet country and organize an ex USSR Country Tier List. Including: Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Armenia and many, many more... What is the best post-Soviet country? Which one is the worst? Let's talk about it and compare the ex-Soviet countries to each other! HUGE DISCLAIMER: this video is just a joke and we aren't trying to offend anyone from the mentioned countries. Let's TRY to keep it peaceful in these comments lol. Smash like and sub for more videos! Sub to Gattsu as well, he makes cool content!

I was in Latvia just last month too in its lovely capital Riga. I want to explore more of these countries. I'd also like to visit Georgia and Armenia, they look beautiful and fascinating. I had planned to visit Ukraine in 2020 but of course Covid happened so plans were cancelled and obviously now Ukraine is an impossibility, for obvious reasons. They ended up converting to Christianity from paganism just to be able to marry the Poles, when the Germans invaded, they were the only Baltic state that didn't have their own SS group because they just like to be themselves. They really love their country, the streets are very clean, people are friendly, lovely even though in the countryside people are a bit on the alcoholic side. They're very artsy, over 30 art Exhibitions open just in Vilnius the whole year. The food is 10/10 "Kaip skanus". The only time I had blend food was when I was in a chinese restaurant. Even Russia is semi-landlocked for most of the year by freaking ice and it's legit been a hit to their gdp and force projection since time immemorial. @@icedancer2370 I just watched an old video where he went to a gay pride parade in Vienna and he said he was progressive and supportive of them. He's well educated and it doesn't sound like he grew up bigoted so I don't think it matters that he grew up russian and didn't automatically adopt those attitudes (which also isn't an excuse these days)
I think one of the least awful things about this war is that I finally feel more connected to eastern Europe than ever before. I'm western European, and I think I can speak for many of us when I say that growing up, it was easy to place all western European countries on a map, but as soon as we got to eastern Europe it became near impossible. We all knew where Poland was and then after that, it became like pinning the tail on the donkey for the rest. This crisis has put so many of the eastern European countries on the map for me. It's no longer this big mass of land that we just refer to as eastern Europe. There are countries there and we can point them out on a map now. I feel like it speaks volumes to the effect of the cold war that the European identity has been this divided for so long. Not out of malice, mind you. I have never thought ill of any eastern European country, but I have always felt that they were closed off and unaccessable by an invisible wall that I just didn't understand. It felt like there was this unspoken rule of "we don't mention them, they don't mention us". So if anything, I feel like I'm finally able to connect with my eastern European brothers and sisters for real now. My biggest wish is that we can be properly united as one Europe and that east and west will one day be a thing of the past. It will not happen over night, but I still wish for it.

This is lovely to read. ❤️ What a great take. I lived and travelled in Russia many moons ago, speak the language reasonably well and have always wanted to visit more Slavic countries and get to some Balkan countries too, learn more languages etc. I always noticed, when talking to fellow Westerners, that my interest surprised them and that they felt bad about not knowing much. I am now newly passionate about visiting that whole part of the world more now that I am thinking about it every day as I watch the Russian exodus and news about the war. I do feel that closeness and curiosity again like I used to, and I see lots of Western peeps feeling the same. It warms my heart. Sorry to ramble. Your comment inspired me!

@@kelly-annmaddox ramble all you want, friend! It is people like you we need more of! I'm not much of a traveller myself, but I do feel like the internet is a great way to get a peak into these cultures that used to be hidden in plain sight. I knew about NFKRZ for many years before all of this and to me he just used to be one of the many funny commentary youtubers, but returning to his channel after Ukraine reintroduced me to his content and to the channel he has evolved into since. And by extention, it connected me to so many other eastern European channels I had never heard of before. It was a bit of a trip to suddenly finding myself researching about all these different countries and cultures, learning more about Russian history. I grew up with soviet stop motion and animated movies as a kid and the Humpedback Horse has always been one of favourite fairytales. I took an interest in the history of the Romanov dynasty at one point and researched it a lot, but it was always with this weird distance to all the painful history that came later. I always ignored the communist part of their history and how it affected not only Russians but all the countries that shared borders with them. But after Ukraine it is like being woken up to a reality that is both scary but also beautiful in a way. I will probably never travel like you or learn the language like you, but I feel like my eyes have been opened like yours, just in a bit of a different way. It's like I finally am able to see my neighbors and feel their presence and I want to hold on to that

HARD! 🇺🇦 Glad to see you having fun again instead of having to discuss everything that's happening in Russia recently. P.S. Having watched the video, I feel like this list is pretty valid and fair. Ukraine has great potential to rise to A tier and beyond after we win this fucking war. Still, B tier is fair at the current level. Once we finish getting rid of corruption (and we're finally making strides in that regard rn) and more importantly after we become a peaceful prospering country again, shit would get crazy. With all of the foreign investment I feel like we'll be one of the best countries in Eastern Europe in the span of like 5-10 years or even sooner. But first we'll need to deal with the issue of authoriatarianism still being present in Europe so that we can all just coexist peacefully.

I just worry about Ukraine's demographics - already the birthrate is negative and with young men dying in the war, it might make the future a lot more difficult as it's hard to start developing when there are more elderly people to support than young people. @Valdis044

@@evzenvarga9707 1 - we're working on the corruption thing, it's our biggest problem right now, indeed. 2 - Ukraine has already been growing pretty well since 2014 as corruption decreased after Yanukovych fled the country, we're already much better than Moldova. The official statistics don't show the full picture due to point #1. Our economy is much bigger if you include the "shadow" part of it. Once we make all of our economy transparent and taxable - our GPD will rise pretty quickly. 3 - all "authoritatian" tendencies we had were all targeting literal russian agents and their assets, which literally worked to dismantle and subvert our territorial integrity and independence. Those were traitors who wanted Ukraine to be russia's puppet. When it comes to actual opposition (like Poroshenko's block) our government is actually pretty leniant with them and released Poroshenko under public pressure despite some valid concerns of his corrupt schemes. Overall, our country has grown even less authoriatarian and more tolerant to all people, including russians until we were pressured to fight them back, yet again. People like Medvedchuk and his assets were an outlier in an otherwise liberal and democratic system. putin literally exchanged the Mariupol defenders for him because he's an obvious russian spy who was really close to putin and was meant to lead the russian-puppet Ukraine (the other option was Muraev, another russian agent). Also, do note that I never liked Zelensky before the Feb. 24th and never voted for him. He was criticized heavily and would've been voted out alongside his party if putin didn't invade us again this year.
