Im gay, and even tho I hate whats going on in Russia, sometimes I wish the west would also outlaw cosmetic surgeries to make someone look like the opposite gender. I just think the movement has really gone off track, from fighting for societal acceptance, to making mentally ill teens feel like they need to look like barbie or Ken in order to be happy. I dont like the popularity of cosmetic surgeries in general, but the fact that the mainstream LGBT narrative has shifted away from self-acceptance and celebration of diversity, to affirming self hate (which they call ‘dysphoria’) and radical, surgical transformation of your physical appearance, because apparently they think that changing the body to conform to heterosexual norms can fix whatever it is that troubles you. Really sad.
