Haulover gets the win. That idiot with the kid on the bow disqualifies the boats this week, and the next 5 weeks! That pisses me off. Even if the kid had a life jacket on he, could have been run over by the boat or plenty of other horrible things. You're my boy, Broncos Guru! You're my boy!

I practiced emergency medicine for 20 years. I also trained and supervised paramedics. There is always one thing you can count on, people do stupid things, sober and intoxicated, and I got to meet them. You can't know how many times I said: "You did what, could you repeat that?" I was sure I must have heard it wrong the first time! So, sit back and be glad that you're not the one that has to save their lives and limbs, and explain the death to family and friends.

Back in 1976 just before the Bicentennial my family and I were down in Key West. We went sailing offshore and the swells were 3 to 5 feet. Being a fantastic swimmer I decided to ride it out at the Bow without a life jacket. After about half an hour on that bucking ride I decided to get to stern. Not a problem and we came back in when our rudder snapped. As the day progressed I noticed my skinny legs red as a boiled crab. I went to bed early (thanks Motel 6). The next day was the 4th of July and we drove all the way back to Ft. Lauderdale. It’s was late afternoon so we stopped to see the fireworks barge. As we drove my skin began to blister. Ironically we just happened to stop close to a hospital. While the rest of my crew watched the show, I asked a nurse to see a doctor about my legs. The doctor just happened by when he looked down to see me in horrible pain. They took me in, cut the blisters open and I was in such relief. The problem was that I was underage and they didn’t have parental consent. So I took the paperwork out of the hospital, got my dad to sign it. I took it back and then got antibiotics to take with me. Long story short, make sure you put on lots of sunblock remembering that it does wash off in water. Also wear light colored clothing. Yes, I should have had on a life jacket regardless of how good a swimmer I was. I’m the kind of kid (back then) who you drove to the beach and picked up again on the way home from work. In my 20’s I would get someone to drive me up the Chattahoochee River, jump in with just a life jacket and float down 20 miles to The takeout point. A few years ago I received my HUIT and BOIST being able to fully complete all requirements. I went through the course in Italy with Italian officers. Some of them couldn’t complete all parts. Believe me when I say that it’s tuff to do in your late 40’s when everyone’s else there are in their early 20’s.

Hello everybody. Skill is most important so is your equipment. I run a 42' Bertram out of Townsend Inlet, NJ. Its would give Haulover a good run for the money. Proper speed and use of your trim tabs are a must. Conditions change everyday and quickly.

It would be fun to give Haulover a run. My Bertram would have no problems. My small boat is a Boston Whaler 20' outrage and she would handle it too. As a child my learning boat was a Boston Whaler 17' Montauk. The trihaul would pound but you made it over the wave. Would go breaker jumping. Hell of a boat.

In Victoria Australia (Nanny State, where our COVID lockdown laws mirror those of China (except worse)), it is compulsory for everyone to wear a lifejacket in an under 12m boat whenever you are crossing a bar such as Haulover Inlet. While I think this is an overreach, maybe for kids under 16 would be a good suggestion for you guys there in Florida. Love your videos, keep working on the boat ramp one. Might be better to just release the really good stuff, even if you only get one every few weeks.
