This Scammer Faced Karma (and lost)

Комедия

I called a scammer who was pretending to be printer tech support. When I ask a question regarding karma he can hardly handle staying on the phone let alone scamming me.

He admitted that he doesn't have anyone to support but himself though, which means this is the perfect time for him to make a change. I hope he does. He didn't sound like a bad person. He didn't pull out every stop in order to steal from Edna. He let her finish out the call -- I know kit did this on purpose. When they're the ones who disconnect with someone, the call is way more likely to be checked by their bosses and he could get hurt. If Edna's the one who hung up, he can just say the call dropped and play dumb. They likely won't question it considering how many calls they lose in a day. Kit really is trying to help him and I hope it makes a difference!

    Sure, they are almost destitute. Living in poverty. India is known to be an emerging economy so even without the hardships of covid, some find they need to do take on this sort of work as a last resort as there is no way out. A growing economy needs education on how to generate sustainable [legitimate] jobs and I believe India needs more education on this.

I feel like I am surrounded by many narcassists (apparently there are about 7 types 🤯). Luckily I have some very good, lifelong friends. YOU are the polar opposite of a Narcassist. You're kind & empathetic, not bossy or arrogant, etc. The world needs way more Kitbogas! 👏👏👏👏👏👏

He's definitely not evil and heartless, he's not at all like the scammers who like to scare elderly people by threatening them with jail for "unpaid taxes". I hope he can find a way out, and someone to talk with. He has a conscience. ❤

    Curious, I'm not a religious person and I still am not, but this did give me a now found understanding of what spirituality is. I think I respect religious folk a bit more now than I did before, now that I understand that it rationalizes morality in a way that is important. The way that the scammer, once faced with his own faith, realizes his wrongdoing is very powerful. I mean, with discussion and rationality we can only come so far, but when people are forced to ask moral questions about themselves like that, things do really change. I hope more people that adhere to a religion will do that, because I feel like they would treat others better when that happens. It's a shame so many just dismiss others on the basis of old rules so they can keep hating on other sexualities, genders or religions without actually thinking about what they're doing. But who knows, maybe that will change. Let's hope.

  • @katherinebrilowski

    @katherinebrilowski

    @@bernardtsuddens8336 I think those who dismiss other sexualities, genders, etc. using the religion are being misled by their secular community. I am formerly religious (Episcopalian) and I know that not all religious people are like that, but there are a good number who are. I often struggle with deeming people “evil” because how much can you blame on their conscious behavior and how much can you blame on what they are taught? No matter how much you yell facts at a person or shove information at them it won’t really sink in until they unlearn how to shut down when they feel threatened. I think why people found this call profound is because Kitboga found a way to break that barrier without having to trigger them. Religion isn’t a catchall and I do believe that for most people it does more harm than good, but if you find people or a community that interprets the Bible (or any religious text) in a positive manner and doesn’t use it for harm, it becomes clearer why people truly believe.

    I want to be optimistic as well but sadly like, people who do these things must be truly desperate. We sometimes forget that behind the phone there's a human being who is not having it any better than us. They're not the ones running the scams, getting the money, living the life. They're as much of a victim as you and me, a victim of a system that forced them to take the job out of desperation, because there was no other choice. And sure, some will ratiolanize it more than others, some will feel more guilty than others, but when your survival is on the line the last thing you care about is someone's bank account in England that you'll never going to see. We cheer, and that's right, it's cathartic, but we forget that the people we are mocking are no less fucked over than we are. We're strinking with the right heart, but at the wrong fucking target.

    Kit's video's are entertaining but the "real world" seriousness of these scams are life altering. Many countless victim's. Many sad stories of people who get scammed and loose their entire life savings. Even those who have ended their life because of these scammer's. It's sickening. Forgive me. I feel no sympathy for scammer's. What they do everyday is horrid. There is no excuse for it. Not their economic situation, family situation, not anything. IDK if you know anyone who has met the evil of one of these people. If you have, then you know exactly what I mean. Regardless, if this particular scammer quit as soon as he hung up, there was another immediately taking his place. That's why Kitboga ended the call saying "time to call more scammer's ". Then added his epilouge.

    @@Curious-Irish-Angel It's a disgusting practice, sure, but nothing is so black and white. This is on a similar level to the age old moral argument of "is stealing a loaf of bread to feed your family good or bad?". A lot of scammers are abusive, nasty people, but there are also some who're stuck in a a country where earning a living wage is nearly impossible, can't find work, and pick up *anything* to get by. If countries offered more education, health care and social support, people wouldn't need to turn to crime just to survive.

    I almost cried. I spent my life being holier than thou, and thought I was a good person who lived with other good people until one of my really good friends pulled up a scam. I had known a guy for a lifetime and he was gem of a person who was just in need and distress. Post pulling the scam he went to a really dark place and that's when I understood that life is not about good or bad. We all live in shades of Grey. "Need" of basic things in an impoverished environment can make some really well meaning people do some really nasty and crappy things. It's sad to watch this guy suffer. I just hope he develops the courage to go out there and make a little less if he has to, works hard and lives a life where he can have a conversation with his God without being constantly ashamed of himself.

    @Joe Mark I don't think you understand the meaning of those words, need and distress. Nor do you understand stress, or hardship. What it means to wonder whether or not you get to have even just warm food for your next meal, whenever it comes. To sleep with nothing but a bridge to keep you dry, and a jacket to keep you warm. To have random people spit on you, mock you. Just because you don't have the luxuries they do. The blind hatred for people who get to live in nice homes, and drive decent cars. To have to take money from kind people. To know that you have forever condemned your soul, just to have a chance at a peaceful life. You don't know what that is like. So sorry if it seems like "sob stories" or if other people merely show sympathy. Sympathy is a cheap gift you can give if nothing else. A gift of perseverance, a gift of change. Not everyone gets that gift, not everyone deserves it. And for the record, Greed and Desperation are the twins of Disparity. Not all scammers are desperate, and not all desperate people are scammers.
