My name is Jason (the winner in the video) and I had a really fun time hanging out with Greg and McLovin' filming this and seeing 'the other side' of the process! Not sure about the 12700k choice, but depending on current components and his use for the pc, maybe it’s the right choice. 12600k looked like a better deal to me though. Amazing series btw, can’t wait for more ❤
i ran into you at the Marietta store without even knowing you guys would be there. the $100 gift card really was a godsend and the 6950xt i bought has really reinvigorated my motivation in pc building. i seriously cant thank you guys enough for that whole thing. really cant put into words.
Man, McLovin really is the person that brings light to the video, I just hope he gets to be in more of these

Very cool concept! Hope this series takes off! If I had one small critique, the spin again tabs are kinda ehh imo. Maybe something like "+$100, spin again" would get future participants more hyped.

And maybe put the spin again tabs right next to the baby blue big money numbers, for that extra cringe. Right now they're in a bit "boring" position.
I love this series, keep ‘em coming. Another great option too is that Microcenter has a bundle for a 5600x and b450 mb for 199. That would’ve left him another $450 for a gpu and ram etc… a 6700xt or 6750xt and 16 gb of ddr4 3600 should be obtainable for that price, especially since Microcenter usually has a plethora of open box gpus that are safe and certified by them. Not to mention, going full amd platform would allow him to take advantage of SAM.

I am so hyped to see more from this series! Love to see what kind of content you’re producing, Fix or Flop, PCDC and now Gear Up! These are always such cool videos and I am stoked that you can do this now too!
I really like this series. Find myself thinking of what I would do in the same situation. Very creative series.
Awesome video looking forward for next one
Ooh, a new series? Awesome!
So much fun, and i love people helping real people during this terrible depression Thanks Greg
Thanks to you I was able to troubleshoot my issue on my PC before any hardware damage. It first started with a grind noise on start. My AMD R 7 5800X started overheating. It started with full pc crash while in a game or while closing the game then evolved into a restart boot loop (because the CPU went in hibernation mode to cool down before turning back on) then the obvious blue screen followed by the "check to see if your fan is mounted or pump blah blah. Thankfully I knew it was the AIO Cooler. I've replaced the CPU with a 3600 until I get a new AIO. Blunt end of the story, Thank you for helping even if you didn't know you did. you saved me a lot of useless stress at a bad moment of my time much appreciation. I'll be here learning more.
the best decision ever ! i'm glad that he decide to upgrade his rig instead of throwing the whole budget on the graphics card i feel that is Greg advice
Really enjoyed the format of this video, keep them coming, thanks 😊
Love this! Excited for the series to continue.
Awesome video! I really enjoyed this one! Looking forward to the next episode

Love the new series idea. Helpful and funny 😅
Super fun watch. TY
Greg, I LOVE this series!!! Will keep watching! Thank you for the awesome content!
100% made the right choice on upgrading the platform.
Wish we had Micro Center in the UK.
I think for the 'spin again' you could do a slightly below midrange amount (say the 35th-40th percentile) - then give the winner an additional option to spin again on that one if they want to risk it for a higher reward
Looking forward to this series.
That is a very interesting series. Maybe you could give a mic to the player so we could hear better what they say. Other then that, quality content as usual. Keep it up! 🤩
this was great cant wait to see more
Hell yea, new series!! Gonna love it!
This is awesome to weatch and giving me tons of ideas for my rig update. Thanks Greg.
this is so wholesome!!! i love it.
Great idea for a series! Love it!
Viewer made the right choice, especially as it meant getting the legend himself to build it for him, just shoving a card in would of been a waste! He can always get a new card himself later if he wants and easily slot it in
Love your series Greg! Keep em coming!
Smart decision on the platform upgrade. It's so amazing that you do this for people!
This is a great series! Looking forward to the next episode
Your videos with other people are the funniest! Love it! Money wisely spent.

Good choice going with the platform update!
Love when you start a new serie, hope the best for you!
Awesome video, Greg. This was so hilarious at times
Another great series here. The dielmna of choosing what to buy with the budget that the winner has will be respresentative to what most people do when updating their rigs. And most of all, all parties have fun till the end. Looking forward for more.
i wish i couldve drove the 4 hours just to meet you! this is awesome. love the different playlists you do. also have learned a lot from your channel since i got into pc gaming. looking forward to more videos like this
That was super cool. What an upgrade for a modest budget. Yes more please.
I like your channel Greg. Diving between deep cleaning, Fix or Flop, and now making people happy with a great sponsorship from Micro Center. I think it's a good move from Micro Center to put some money on this. I would definitely buy from them if I were in the US. Keep going your great job Greg!

its crazy to see some ppl on that old of a platform too
new series and amazing quality, yeah this is gonna be fire
I was just in the Philly Micro Center (Saint David's, really), and after seeing yours and Jay's and Kyle's videos wandering around Micro Center, it was pretty much everything I expected it to be. Basically Best Buy but with only PC components. The one salesman I chatted with was cool and we spent as much time talking about Top Gun: Maverick as we did chatting about my intended platform upgrade. I'm currently running an R5 2400G on a Gigabyte B450M-DSH with a Zotac 1080, 16GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM, a Samsung 970EVO 500GB SSD, and two 4 TB HDD's in a Mirrored config all powered by an EVGA 650W Gold PSU. I'm not a serious enough game player to justify anything more than a newer-gen R5 or anything more than an 80-series GPU (or even 70-series in a newer gen). So my upgrade should be relatively cheap, and then I can put all this hardware into my girlfriend's WFH PC, which is currently running on hardware I bought used off of eBay for no more than $20 per component (and still running better than her PC at her office, lol).
I was a little bummed that you did not show much of the upgrade process of the rig. But I liked the video. And he got a big uplift in performance with the platform upgrade that was the right call, can always now upgrade GPU at anytime later.

Terrible call? Not at all. His RX 6650 XT wasn’t a significant enough upgrade over the 1080 to justify it in his eyes.

This will be an awesome playlist! And yeah, at this level I would think that platform upgrade is preferable to replacing the 1070. That's kinda like my trusty old 5600xt being stuck on an old HAswell platform

@@ProVishGaming A 4770k will bottle neck a 980 Ti and cant get anymore FPS out that cpu, with upgrading the platform he will be able to better utilize the gpu and get more fps. I love people like you that don't know shit about what they're talking about. People like you are what's wrong with the internet, too many people talking like they know everything, when they know very little.
Love the new series.
Great new Playlist idea!
yeah... im inclined to say the platform upgrade was the way to go. the 1070/1080 can still do pretty well and he can always score a deal on a GPU later down the line. Depending on what PCie connection that mobo had it might not have been able to make full use of a more recent GPU anyway.
This Old PC would have been a lovely name as well. A sort of Sleeper PC series where you take and salvage as much as possible but modernize old rigs.
Keep this series coming!
i would 100% feel the pressure to get a GPU but a platform upgrade was 100% the right choice , it gives him the option to save up for a GPU and get the full benefits of the card ! great video keep them coming :)
awesome video, MicroCenter rocks

These videos have honestly got me convinced to just drive the 4 hours to Marietta to go to the Micro Center when it comes time for me to build a PC as the costs and selection is just incredible. Good video, Greg.

Their listed prices are without sales tax, so this alone makes them look relatively cheap compared to most of the rest of the world.

Great video! I would have liked to have seen some before/after scores. Maybe add a bonus prize if they hit a % bump on a score tied to the price on the wheel. Or have a 2nd wheel with % bump they have to try and hit?
Awesome video!
Hey man! Probably you wont remember but I was the guy that said: “hey man huge fan of your work” while you where filming this video. Keep it up man! :)
Def go for the platform upgrade. Adding a better GPU is really a loss leader and isn't going to net a lot more FPS than that 1080 on the 4th Gen i7, at what I assume he's playing at... 1080p. Then save up some money for the better GPU. Hell, depending on the game, he's going to get a bigger FPS bump keeping the 1080 with the new platform than he would with a GPU.

he can add new gpu later on atleast now his system is capable of utilizing full potential of new high end gpu which maybe he adds sometime in the future , its his choice i know gpu upgrade would have been better , the 4th gen i7 is too old at this point even the 12th gen i3 beats it with the same core config + he could have got an rtx 4070 base variant for 600$ & 650$ for high end models but the i7 4th gen wouldnt be able to get most out of it
