I think this style of shorts is really cool, I think it would be awesome if you did some more.

See - that is the essence of good DMing. Anyone can screw over their group. The DM is almost allmighty in the game - you can throw problems at your players they simply can't overcome. But setting traps for your players isn't the way to go (well sometimes it can...) A good game is all about options and decissions. Dice are nice. But the most powerful thing you can give players is the ability to decide. Give em options, some better, some worse, some seemingly out of the question - and let them figure out how they go about your adventure.

Stealth was never an option

Would you allow the use of Nystul’s Magic Aura to mask the party’s magic items? I think that if they want to spend a bunch of 2nd level spell slots on it, especially if they actually bothered to learn a spell with relatively limited use cases , I’d allow it. They would have to make sure that they got every item that isn’t stored in an extradimensional space and any persistent magical effects on their persons, but I think it’s viable.

When I saw the title on this short, I thought it was going to be a creature that could mimic the effect of any magic used against it, sort of how the character John in the webtoon Unordinary does. Since that is not what this one does, but I think it would be very cool, are there any monsters or subclasses that don't have many innate powers but can use any magic that they see used? If not, how would you balance that?

when I saw the title i thought it would be a creature (maybe a powerful wizard/lich or maybe a magical construct) that can set off the players magic items. which i think could be really fun. uses an action to set off a character's wand, causing the effect to happen to the character and using up a charge. probably makes an arcana check against a dc determined by the rarity of the item. as to yours, I think a similar system of arcana checks might be a good way to go about that. not sure how to handle spell slots though.

@@iphidamasfilms1245I like your idea! Maybe they have a regular amount of spell slots for their cr or level, but they can only use spells that they have seen cast since their last long rest.

It's a LARGE aberration with a mess of hit points...

I wouldn’t mind at all his videos were in the style

Yuan-ti are snake people with the feature to cast animal friendship an unlimited amount of times on only snakes, but any Druid or ranger with beast controlling and summoning abilities can just do it on snakes. If the subclass gets a pet make it a snake. So Yuan-ti Druid or ranger and try to get a staff of the adder and the staff of the python from your dm, so you can always have a snake or two no matter what biome(druid attunement only ROW). I JUST REALIZED YOU CAN REFLAVOR ENTANGLE, SPIKE GROWTH, AND PLANT GROWTH AS A BUNCH OF SNAKES. I’m stealing your idea now because it can both be absolutely terrifying and absolutely hilarious
