I personally don't need the perfect passthrough, but I think it should have eye and face tracking, because that otherwise leaves only the discontinued (and expensive) Vive Pro Eye and expensive Quest Pro. I have the OG Vive and I am happy with the passthrough, it is enough to grab something from the table or open/close the window. So anything not worse is fine by me.

    1. Since your focus is social VR, do you plan on having a face tracking add-on? If not, do you plan on allowing for an easy mounting point for the Vive facial tracker? 2. Does the Eye tracking support floating point states for blinking, or is it binary open/close? What about pupil dilation? Having floating point for blinking would be great 3. Does it include a mic? How does this HMD's mic compare to the Index? 4. Why not have build in audio like the Index? That provides such an amazing and immersive experience and no one has even *tried* to replicate it 5. What refresh rate(s) for the screen? 6. What's the binocular overlap FoV? 7. Can Index controllers pair to the headset itself or will we have to purchase additional dongles?

I don't want to use earbuds and I sure as hell don't want to have to use a separate set of headphones. Good quality audio is essential for VR immersion! As for vision correction, there was no mention at all on how comfortable it is for people that wear glasses, or if it will offer some sort of minor vision correction adjustment like is rumored to potentially be a feature with Deckard (if we ever see it). Aside from those two areas, this headset looks very good and will definitely be on my short list.

Having 4K passthrough cameras sounds really great, however I'm getting concerned about battery life for this headset. Would you mind sharing some detail on how much power it will draw? I definitely want to modify it so that I can easily swap powerbankg without interrupting my session. Does it even have an internal battery to close this (brief) transition period? Speaking of wireless, what can we expect here? Have you by chance talked to the Virtual Desktop devs in regards to software compatibility? Are you going to support the new AV1 encoder or at least HEVC? Maybe an oversight on my part but are you going to ship controllers with this headset? I don't wanna invest into light-house tracking anymore at this point as the market clearly shifts towards inside-out tracking? If not, what alternatives are there? Perhaps we can make Quest 2 / Quest Pro controllers work with it? So happy to see you're actively designing the anchor points for custom headstraps. IMHO every other manufacturer gives a damn about clearance when it comes to wearing over-ear headphones. Looking forward to see how it will turn out! Personally, I'd like to remove the built-in speakers completely or rebuilt them to be snap-on accessories.

it was stated on their website for their first release they are focusing on just delivering the pcvr experience because of supply chain issues for their first headset, and not doing the standalone mode. though i feel like the battery life wont be a huge issue mainly because the cameras on the front dont always have to be on or being used even if it was being used wirelessly, which when you also consider its form factor it has much more room for 1 larger or possibly even 2 larger batteries for this and a usb-c port to connect your own batteries.

Sounds good, but will be probably too expensive. And although I have several 3d printer...I don't really want to print anything important for my expensive vr Glases. Everything should work out of the Box. I like that its a pc vr headset...I don't need Standalone. I like that its possible to play wireless (would be interesting how good is the quality in wireless mode) I like the pancake lenses I don't like that it looks somehow big and front heavy specially for a pancake headset. If you are into AR, this could be a good headset. But I am afraid all this features will make it very expensive. I would pay maximum 700€, maybe 800 if it comes with good sound (but if I understood correctly it doesn't have any speakers right?) I still have many questions: 1. Whats the price ? 2. How good does it work when you wear glasses? 3. How heavy is it? 4. How good it the comfort when playing long sessions? How warm does it get? Does the lenses get fogged up? 5. How does it work with steamVR, do you need any extra software? How does steam find the headset when it's working wireless? 6. How long can you play wireless without charging? 7. How long does it take to charge it full? 8. Can u remove the Batterie if playing with cable?

It's fantastic to see innovation like this in the VR sector. The headset looks incredible and with those superb features and modularity/flexibility, I wish Artur and Somnium Space every success. I do have a question...I wonder what Artur's thoughts are on foveated rendering? - does he think that something like Nvidia's driver-level-only VRSS 2 is the way forward, or does he think the game code itself (game loop and game engine) should, ideally, also offer an optimised foveated render pathway in order to fully unlock this technology? For interest, can he share an indication of, for each 'typical' game frame (real...not DLSS3), what percentage comes from the game code + game engine, and what percentage comes from the GPU? If a significant time of each frame generation is spent outside the GPU (i.e. in the game code) then perhaps it is the game engine that should be controlling (primarily contributing to) the foveated rendering process/pathway?

This looks very nice. Nonetheless, I am confused and would like to learn more about three things. 1) How will the headset connect to a PC wirelessly without standalone capabilities? 2) The anchor point idea is cool, but how will this be more modular than other headsets in practice? The face gasket, headstrap, audio, even controllers I believe if you are using steamVR are de facto modular even on intended to be proprietary headsets like the Quest 2. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems like the only major difference here in terms of modularity is intention. 3) Why the need for so much room for active cooling if it is just for PCVR streaming? Also just how much longer does this make the headset? Biggest actual turnoff is that it looks fresnel lens size despite having pancakes.

@@Wobbothe3rd I know that, I'm just wondering how exactly the experience of logging in wirelessly would work. For instance, will there be a limited utility home screen where you can then log into your PC via virtual desktop or a similar Somnium app, or will it just boot directly connected to your computer via WiGig or a dedicated router after connecting the first time? Will I be able to remote stream my PC like I can on Virtual Desktop? Can people use Cloud PC streaming? It's presents worthwhile questions as all the existing wireless PCVR headsets I've used have full standalone function, I'm not questioning that it's possible to have a dedicated wireless PCVR headset but just wondering how the experience would work. And for the cooling, I feel that my Reverb G2 never ran hot and I'm just wondering exactly how hot something can get from non-standalone processing (decoding and encoding signals, etc), though ya I know Reverb G2 doesn't even have to do these calculations since it comes over the wire uncompressed.

I hope it has good lenses. I wonder why HMD manufacturers never use graded index lenses... That's what I would use. The lenses could be matched precisely to the size and shape of the optical geometry making for perfect 90° angle, no distortion at the far edges... etc. That's what my right Brain thinks .... My left Brain is chiming in saying: 'if the lens was matched that precisely to the screen and the HMD Geometry, then it would be much harder to change IPD without everything going out of that precise screen to lens graded matched alignment. They would need to make a different headset for every IPD. (Quiet! annoying overly-analytical left brain!). Creative right Brain kicking back in: Then all we have to do is change where the screens are too when adjusting IPD, So they stay in that precise locked geometric alignment with the Lenses! I've been using the pimax for 5 years now. The software isn't perfect but when u get it working, you don't have to mess with it again. It has the same set up labor as base stations. Ya sure it's a pain to get them mounted and synced but once you do, I haven't tinkered with them since and they've been working flawlessly for 5 years as well. I think tge reason why companies don't try to push wider fov is because it introduces so many issues in vr. Early object culling, increase gpu demand, costum lenses that are almost twice the size of the standard and power hungry usb bandwidth.
