After a few minutes, I noticed it kinda started fizzing like a soda. That refrigerated coaster is amazing for people that put the experience of ice-cold drinks miles beyond just a couple degrees warmer, and yeah, the sensory experience is completely different and it's totally valid to want that better sensory experience, specially since Nigel is obsessed with energy drinks, they seem to be a big part of his daily life, so making it a better experience reduces stress and probably makes his internal state 3x more _c h i l l_

    I used to have a waterbed when I was younger but also slept really hot, so I used to sleep directly on the bladder without any sheets. It soaks up all the heat from your body instead of being insulated through blankets/sheets. A lot of people actually use heaters for their waterbeds because it can get kind of cold. They're great, thought of buying a new one.

    Yeah, my first thought was a waterbed with a super heat-resistant plastic/polymer heatsink. Quieter than a peristaltic pump. Buuut historically we’re not great with gauging pollutants in heat-resistant materials. Something about me so feely oh ma.

  • @rodjownsu
    @rodjownsu Жыл бұрын

    I'm actually in the process of putting a water cooling Matt on my bed for camping during summer, you can buy a Matt from Ali express, they sell them as pet cooling matts. You really don't feel the pump at all because it's a pretty low flow rate, also a peristaltic would probably work well too. My plan is to use air cooling initially, but if it's really hot then butcher a 12v fridge and use a heat exchanger to activately chill the water. Much more efficient than trying to cool an area down as the human body only outputs approx 100w of heat and removing heat using direct contact is much more efficient than running an AC

  • @SimonVana

    You can also buy a product called a mattress cooler that's intended exactly for this. The one I have uses evaporative cooling to keep the water cool, which works well in dry environments.

    Depending on the ambient temperature and humidity, you can also rig a 5 gallon bucket to serve double duty as a cooler and small humidifier/air conditioner. It’s basically just some cheap fans and some ducting. I used some old 140mm PC fans and a solar panel. It was kinda funny seeing people pull beers out of an RGB Home Depot bucket though, lol.

    I made a watercooled blanket once, basically exactly how you described (because I am a human furnace and can't handle heat). Just ran a bunch of ¼" rubber tubing through it and then through a radiator I nabbed from an old AC unit, with a 12v diaphragm pump. Even with the super vibratey pump I didn't feel anything through the tubes, they're soft enough to absorb any vibrations. Active cooling is entirely unnecessary. I used it "camping" in Canada's only desert, highs of 43° and it didn't cool off until ~2am. I could still sleep with a blanket, it was shockingly good at pulling heat out of the bed.

  • @traisjames2

    I have one of those bed jets, called Bed Jet, which pumps air under my sheets. However I sleep with multiple weighted blankets so I had to make a contraction that maintains a gap between the blankets and my mattress. I love it and can't sleep with out it. I use only a small amound of heat and it comes into the side of my bed instead of the foot.

    From what I gather a lower receiver is enough to qualify for TSA exemption in locked (non-TSA keyed lock) checked baggage (but you need to declare it during check-in), which is what I guess you were talking about. That apparently does not mean that TSA will refrain from cutting off your lock and afterwards have an unsecured "firearm" floating around in luggage, from what DeviantOllam has experienced at least.

They ripped up the street once every other month, even broke a gas line once and the block had to be on notice. For two years I'd wake up to CATS digging, banging, and screeching but the worst thing was the Jackhammering. I'd wake up with my eyes shacking in my head and it would last all day for 10 hours. Once they had to work around the clock to fix the water main which they already ripped up 2-5 times. It was a nightmare.

    A few years ago I built a peltier into a pewter mug, that was pretty neat, except I didnt have a regulator on it, so if you drank 3/4s of it and forgot about it, it would freeze up. some things that worked kinda ok, other things not so much. slushy beer is not pleasant. also, waterbeds have a heater element in them, as if the water is to cool, it can give you hyperthermia. its a very small heater and a regulator, as if you have blankets and stuff on the bed it doesn't actually loose much heat. I did not know this, and so set it up in the evening. I slept on the couch that night, I tried it, but it just sucks the heat out of you. but that would be an easy way to regulate the bed temperature. however waterbeds are weird, novelty wears off pretty quickly, I replaced it in like a week.

    Would be cool to have an episode of all the partners of the guys (those of them who have them). I'd love to hear from Chelsea or I did a things partner

    General rule of thumb for slating white balance cards is “half” the lense. Example being 50 mm lenses should have the card 2.5 ft away. 30 mm 1.5 ft etc.

    36:42 What if you stuck a ring light on a ring of aluminum with a white semi-sheer curtain? Then zip-tie some carabiners and screw a mount to the ceiling. It’d all fit in a pizza box.
