It doesn't matter much if they have Qualified Immunity or not. They still receive indemnity from the city. Individual LEO's literally never pay a dime out of pocket for lawsuits. They were told specifically to do this, and literally got fired for not. They also got straight busted giving orders to lock up any young black males found on the street, in a briefing to an entire precinct. This was recorded and publicly released, and the city didn't gaf at all. They actually went scorched earth on the judge who ended up calling them out on the racial angle, and basically won in practical terms. When you see bizarre court case results out of NYC, remember that the city attacks judges who rule against it.

And I just stay professional and let my boss or security deal with it. I've forgotten more law than most of these officers have ever read. I'm a retired police chief. Furthermore, I went to law school. I've even taught at two different police academies. The best thing I did was to take every spare dollar I had was to invest it from the time I was 18. That's why I'm retired at a young enough age to enjoy life. I wouldn't work in law enforcement again for any amount of money. The saddest part is that I've offered to come give free training to departments such as these and not one has accepted.
