I love 1000-1500 games so much. The basics are already firmly there, and the beginnings of high-level thought is also there. Sometimes you'd see absolutely stupid moves, sometimes you'd see actual Brilliant moves, sometimes you'd see an absolute throw, sometimes you'd see a mega clutch. not many people will understand the gravity of what Tyler has accomplished in league. Especially because his success in league utilizes a very macro-oriented, pattern recognizing playstyle. He's made for chess. When Tyler looks at a frame of league he intuitively understands where each player is, where the value is, what everyone's win condition is and makes the right move accordingly. He did this for all 5 roles of the game. He didn't succeed because he's just mechanically gifted on a strong champion and downing Adderalls. He wins with the same tools that you win with chess. He's also an addict.

I've never heard of this guy, but i'm happy he's finding some joy in chess. This is what it does to us that crave mental interactions such as chess, at first it's like "ehh chess", then you actually start learning, and you're like "oh.. snap, i'm a baby in this", then you engage it harder and you get addicted and others are like "it's just chess".. nope.. it's not. it's tactics, it's position, it's pushing your brain to see things that aren't there yet. it's a damn war.

dude I know Tyler's persona is really hilarious and eccentric but he's truthfully an insanely smart and dedicated person. I would not be surprised if he was top percentile at anything he chose to spend time and energy on, it's just in his nature and he understands how to get good at skills. At first he might be dicking around and just getting a feel for stuff but once he sits down and tries, it's actually over.
