@@Mediocre_Gaming1917Yeah this is me. I feel like i start doing a lot better in the mid to late game when the board starts to get simplified and I’ve figured out the flow of the game and what my current attack plan is. The opening is always a clusterf- for me because I can’t memorize an opening past like 2-3 moves, and with so many pieces on the board and everything all tangled up, it’s easy to miss something.

If you're 800-900 and wish to overcome the 1000 barrier, just learn an opening for black and for white with a few of the most common variations, and I promise that you'll get there easily. For me, just doing that took me all the way to almost 1300. Also, do a lot of puzzles and always analyze your games, especially when you lose.

Highkey there is a major difference between 1000 blitz and 1000 rapid, I feel like blitz players are a lot stronger somehow, I'm 200-300 points lower in blitz than in rapid, and in rapid I might be underrated atm. Not so much in blitz.

For anyone who happens to read this, Levi's courses are well worth the money. I started playing chess at 42 never having played before. I watched some youtube videos and tried the fried liver, and london, but I couldn't even remember like move 2. After playing for about 2 months I was struggling to maintain 400 to 500 ELO. I purchased Levi's 1e4 and Caro course as a package. I studied a bit and would play remembering the first 3 to 4 moves, and then go rewatch the videos play, rewatch and keep trying to remember the moves under move 10 and keep adding on. Eventually I got the London Course, and realized I'm a better positional player then tactical, and d4 is just more solid and positional most the time. Anyway after about 6 months I was able to reach 1000 elo, and it's cause I took the time to buy and study openings. I have almost every one of Levi's courses, and some from other people, and Levi's courses are the best IMO, easy to digest, practical moves meaning you get what is in your course work a lot, and it just shot up my ELO, and understanding so much quicker then just playing on my own.

At 18:05 when the knight moved and stopped defending the e2 square, you can hop your knight to d4 attacking the queen. Very Very often players will move the queen to G3 to target the pawn in front of your castled king to tray and set up some mate in the future. They miss the fact that your knight can check on E2 winning the queen. I win a ton of games in the advanced caro with that check. It happens all the time.

I would say that bishop going backwards at 14:48 was to safeguard against getting forked by your knight taking that pawn at d4 you were talking about. It also covers the pawn at c2, where your knight might eventually go and fork king and rook. Seems to me that it did not make sense to you only because you purposefully ignored knight takes d4 at that point.

I would love this series for players 1500-2000. Although it wont get as many views and we dont make up the majority of your audience it would be great to see.

When a 1800 wins a game they usually play as a 2000+, but when they lose they play as a 1500-1800 (usually) there are exeptions of course, so your elo makes more sense when you lose than when you win

Depends on the type of game, some games are complicated and you both get like 1000 rating from computer, some games are simple and you get 2000 rating

I feel so left out, when I really started playing chess I was already playing at about 1200 elo level. I never got to feel the accomplishment of reaching 4 digit... 😭That said, I'm so close to reaching my goal of 1800 elo, just need like 20 more points

Im 950 elo and I once reached 4 digit and 1033 elo and I felt nothing. Wanted to keep going on, but then propably met smurf that had perfect responses on my opening and so I dropped back down to 900s. I didnt feel that much accomplishment reaching 1000, when I realized, that chess becomes less fun in there, when people play better moves overall from the start.

@@jout738 Smurfs suck and chess definitely can be less fun at higher elo. Chess at higher elo is more fun if you take a little time to learn a few higher level tactics. Executing a sneaky tactic on an unsuspecting opponent brings so much joy and motivation to keep playing. I wish you luck on your chess journey

@@ClimberDuk Yes its annoying, when im trying to do progress in chess and reach new chess elo high score and then there comes chess smurf from around 1500-2000 elo that makes me impossible to beat him, because his so much better at the game and that then makes me demotivated to try countinue to reach new chess elo ranking.

Blitz pool is really stronger than rapid. Also you get some underrated players more often in blitz. Dude wants to play excellent in your game and plays terrible the rest or maybe rages easily when loses. Its the same in Lichess as well.
