What do you think, is it worth the upgrade?

I definitely love the new: -Vintage and plate algorithms -IR import -Ducking -Gating -Thickness control -Full immersive Atmos support And the upgrade price they gave me, $59.00, so I went ahead and bought it and I'm very happy with it. However, I agree with you that the change to the knobs is actually a step backwards. It was better the way they were before.

It's absolutely worth it, and I bought few days ago (as upgrade to existing Pro-R) - new version has some new interesting features like gate and ducking (and 2 more models, plus IR import!), along with support for many immersive sound formats... plenty of reasons that tick all my boxes. Although... there is a certain bundle of two Eventide imersive sound products currently on sale... (Blackhole & Micropitch but with immersive sound support)... Soooo tempting, very tempting! :)

I'm on the fence on whether to upgrade. The thing that's pulling me in is the ducking feature. I really love that. I suppose I could stick with Pro R and sidechain a compressor - but that ducking simplifies things. Do I want to spend $60 for ducking ..................................yeah probably. I have a plugin addiction.

I love the functionality, including Atmos, but not the sound. There are many other reverbs that sound more realistic, and many others that sound more beautiful. But if you need a reverb that people aren't meant to notice to work in a mix and work with other reverbs, it looks like this could be a good tool. I'm sure tastes will vary about the sound; but for me the virtues of this reverb come down to functionality and workflow.

Yeah but its not always about sounding beautiful. Its how about it blends in the mix.

I have to disagree slightly , I think the new look is simpler than the original, I prefer the icons inside of the knobs instead of around them

Sure, what I prefer doesn't mean you have to prefer that as well ;-) I just found it more clear on version 1, takes the guessing out of the game. The indicators on where you have the settings are more clear imo as well.

Actually the most desirable new functions are ducking and freeze - those 2 could really save some time. New algorithms are kinda meh. I'd rather use Valhalla VintageVerb or Valhalla Plate instead.
