    Outstanding! I've had the plug for a few weeks, and find it incredibly useful and intuitive, but I was unaware of how much depth there is for different applications. I've been mainly using it as the versatile band compressor that it also is, but now I have a bunch of other things I need to try. Many thanks! Very helpful!

    2 more: 1. It’s cool that while a track is playing you can hover over the bottom half of the EQ curve and it will turn purple and show you any “annoying frequencies”. 2. But it’s really cool if you the click and hold your mouse to make it turn BLUE which freezes the screen (otherwise each time you make an adjustment you have to then go back, hover, wait for a couple seconds purple). Awesome video, thanks guys !!!

    I was experimenting with the notes in the EQ spectrum. My chorus is written in G-lydian.. I made narrow bands at every G note in the spectrum & raised them all super high (just for the experiment). I was hearing ping noises that sounded pretty neat in my key. It actually sounded great throughout the chord changes. Then, with every band selected, I moved them back & forth. You can clearly hear how horrible it sounds when they are out of key. This is important to know, because they can help you make your music sound even better, knowing how it sounds at ridiculous levels. When it sounds pleasing to the ears, then you lower them, so you can't really hear any "weirdness" - but you know it's subtly adding to the natural beauty of the sound. I might want to start doing this on the drums. No matter what you do to the EQ, you can have a separate EQ in the chain for this purpose. :)

    With Linear phase mode. I've noticed when making a high pass / low pass it introduces pre/post ring But not so much on subtle bell shape cut or boosts What're your thoughts on using linear phase EQs? What setting would u recommend purely for mastering applications

  • @sageaudio

    @sageaudio

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Compound Audio! Thanks for watching this one! When mastering I like Natural phase, dynamic phase, or medium latency linear phase. Sometimes the zero latency sounds better for rock or punk since they don't sound as clean. Also, maximum latency linear phase might introduce some issues as you said, so it's best to avoid these for the most part. SageAudio.com

I have one question - because I am writing sort of cinematic music and I am a beginner - is it possible to do a final mix using only intuition and to listen a piece on diffrent headphones and monitors? Just to ballance particular instruments in my partiture by experimenting with dynamics?

  • @sageaudio

    @sageaudio

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching and letting me know you enjoyed the video! It's definitely is possible - granted the more you know, the easier it is to figure out why something isn't sounding the way you want it to, and then know how to fix it. But if you have a good ear and general knowledge of the tools you're using, you can absolutely make a final mix with some trial and error.

    Question, Lets say i want to send my high hats to the far left and the far right of the mix, is this possible to do with ProQ? I saw someone talking about it but i dont have much info about that specific function. To me it seems like if i send it to the left then try to send it to the right itll just go center, no?

  • @sageaudio

    @sageaudio

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching! That's right - if you were to duplicate the hi-hat and send one channel to the left and the other to the right, you'd create "Phantom Mono" or a stereo signal in which both the left and right channels are identical. In other words it would sound centered. If you use the Pro-Q 3, introduce 1 bell filter and place it on the Left, then create another and place it on the Right. Vary their center frequencies by about 500Hz, and amplify. This should widen the stereo image of the hi-hat. Alternatively, use a sample delay plugin, and delay the right or left channel by about 3ms. This will widen the hi hat as well.
