⛴ This is why we LOVE LIVING IN EUROPE in Europe!! Ep.332
There are many things we love about living and building our new boat in Europe, but for sure at the top of the list is the distance between countries and the amount of experiences we get to live because of that.
This week we are in the Netherlands and we visit the headquarters of our newest partner (Vetus Global) for our boat project. Also we spent 2 days in our friends' Dutch Barge and had the opportunity to maneuver it on a channel.

We are Duca and Roberta, a Brazilian couple that during a sabbatical trip in 2016 decided to follow our dream. So, we created "Odd Life Crafting", a project composed of many smaller projects that we call seasons.
The first one was the creation of Odd Life Crafting. The idea was to build a metal boat to be able to travel the world taking our house with us, but we didn't have money for that. So, we started the next season: we built a tiny shipping container house with no prior experience in building to gain some skills to build a boat. When we were almost finished we found a boat 700km away from our hometown that was neglected for over 22 years and we spent 2 years refitting her (Season 3). On the season 4 we sailed for 2 years (exploring the Brazilian coast and part of the Caribbean), we sold our boat and we moved to Europe. The last season we are starting to build a new aluminum 43ft sailboat and a new life.
We hope to inspire others to follow their dreams.
SUBSCRIBE to our channel and join us every SUNDAY for a new episode of our journey!!

This was so full of cuteness that I almost wanted another son (ALMOST----I am 80!) I'll stick with the three I already have---I shaved my gray hair off that they gave me, lol!
Team, you have been at 6 minutes from my house just after you past the Binckhorst brug and went to the left onto the Zuidvliet to Voorburg! From that point to my house is a straight line of 2.6km. 😀😀😀After the Kerkbrug in Voorburg at the left side was my secondary school, but the school is gone and replaced with fantastic houses. Your last stop was just before the lock in Leidschendam and when you walked along the lock...exactly in the middel you where in front of family's house😍 If I had known that....I would have shake your hands! 🥰

Brazilians congregate :) I live in Albuquerque, NM and my husband got to know a Brazilian at work and suddenly we were sucked in to the local Brazilian scene 😀😀😀
"As cute and lovely as Dom", well I hope so too, what an angel he is 👍
It's always a good time to travel the canals of Netherlands! Thank you, from a 2nd generation Hollander in USA.
I love the respect one has to have on these barges in Europe. The sign on the longboat says it all "Droom nie je leven. Leef je droom.". Enjoy!
"Droom niet je leven...Leef je droom" - Prufundo e verdadeiro! Adorei esta frase estampada no Seladon.
How nice to see , this is town where i grew up 😊 🇱🇺
Wow, I live in Leidschendam. Just had a drink at the lock there. Almost crossed eachother. Enjoy Holland!

Thanks for taking me on a great barge ride - really unique and enjoyable.
Welkom to my country The Netherlands. Hope you had a good time. Greetings Rob 👋
Lovely video. Over here in the UK we have 2,000 miles of waterways that Narrowboats (canal boats) travel on. They are normally 6ft 10 inch wide by 20 - 70ft length. The best place to take them is on the tidal river Thames in London, uk and you will be blown away with the stunning views.

Million dollar view from this boat. Excellent video
This episode is so, so, so, cool … as Duca would say. You started in Den Haag were I was born, you sailed through Voorburg were I went to high school and through the lock at Leidschendam were I grew up from 2,5 - 19 years. I used to help the lockkeeper on Sundays when the lock was still fully manually operated. I never imagined you would come so close to my world. I’m now living in Eindhoven but I do my sailing in Friesland and on the IJsselmeer (close to KM Yachts).❤

How nice! I’ve been following you guys since you started rebuilding Odd in Brazil. I live in the Hague and cycled the same route that you traveled along de Vliet yesterday. I recognized it immediately. What a coincidence. Good luck with your new boatbuild, the design is awesome. Especially the wide stern. It looks racy and spacious at the same time.
Engraçado ver vocês juntos, com o Dom falando tudo. Um forte abraço, Bons ventos!
What a lovely video showcasing barge life in the Netherlands. I've been fortunate to visit there several times and have taken a couple of tourist barge rides, but have never been aboard one that is an actual residence. Thank you for sharing that perspective...it's fabulous...not to mention the expert seamanship skills!!!
Muito legal, adorei! Barcaça, show! Que menininho fofo🤩🙌
I had a 28 meter house boat in Amsterdam center had to turn around in front of the Opera House to moor it there, it´s still there I´m on a 10.5 meter sailing cat in Portugal now.
Bom dia, Roberta and Duca! You met Rob Poirier, and he spoke highly of you. I will visit META and Philippe on Monday and Tuesday, May 20th and 21st, to discuss our future boat. I would love to connect with you while there. Will you be in Lyon on one of these days? Ciao, Robert & Susan

Hey you could have said hello to Mark of Wilding sailing with his repairs and build up of a Wharram Pahi 42. 🇬🇧🧙🏻♂️ River Barges are cool ..huge beasts...but you should get to see one of the original sailing barges with their Side keel boards. Dutch and English Thames barges traded across the channel and up the river. Some of those barges were built with their helm stations that could be collapsed down level with the cabin roof so they can pass under the old fixed steel and brick briges usually in the historic cities. Congratulations. 🌷🌻🌷🌻
There's nothing like snuggling with a child! Roberta, there are more to come. Safe travels. ❤
I am sitting here on the other side of the world and see you go through the canal where in that strong winter many years ago I skated from Voorburg to Leiden and back. Best wishes with the boy!!
You need to rent a narrow boat and go up the Llangollen Canal in the UK. May have to wait until mini Ducca is grown up a bit though. Or go fairly soon as you need to do the locks on the Canal yourself.
Boa noite Roberta e Duka.😊😊😊

For an even more relaxed experience, try canal narrowboat life in the U.K. The countryside is amazing.
