Hey Jeff, you should’ve mentioned the AG TPU-studs you can screw into the SG boots from Adidas if you buy them extra.

For Americans watching and I’m sure he knows this as well, they water the pitch a lot in Europe, half time and before the game, at least in the bigger leagues and so the pitch is naturally wet almost all the time regardless of it it’s raining so naturally most players in that tend to play in soft ground, I prefer soft ground but sometimes you can’t really find pitches that are the best suitable for it without tearing it up through so I use firm ground as well but I’ve always felt more comfortable in soft ground even in primary school the first proper boots I got were metal studs soft ground ones and only when I first left the UK to live in China I knew about firm ground then in the us practically everyone (I’ve met) wears firm ground, (I’m usually surprised if I see someone in sg boots)

I'm italian and in the serie a, a lot of players use these type of boots. In italy we call them "mixed studs" and they actually go very well in more pitches than the fg studs, they are very good on normal grass, on soft ground and the plastic studs are actually very important for the traction and the fell

SG boots are essential in the UK, even well-maintained pitches are often very soft/muddy.

Hey Josh, which soft ground stud pattern are better? The traditional 6 stud configuration or these newer mixed stud ones?

I LOVE MY MERCURIAL VAPOR X SG SOOOOOO MUCH. THERE'S HONESTLY SUCH A DIFFERENCE IN TRACTION AND I'D RECOMMEND IT IF THE PITCHES YOU PLAY ON ARE SOFTER GRASS OR EVEN JUST NORMAL GRASS.

On a size 10, you definitely want the regular length rather than Jr length for Mercurials. Yellow Reflective is definitely the way to go on that colorway.

Just got a pair! Included everything in the box you showed except the stud wrench. I haven't used them yet. Will it be ok to tighten studs by hand rather than with a stud wrench, or will I lose studs?

Hard to say, but in general, if they're not relatively tight, they can fall off.

I have a pair of SG's that i keep, but only really use 1-2 times per year. If ur on a budget it's not worth it. However, I've had the same pair of Tiempo legend 5 sg's for almost 4 years now so.

That's what I did growing. I bought a pair that I liked, and because I would only ever need them a few times per season, they last a long time. If you feel like you need them sometimes, it's better just to have them in your bag in my opinion.

Does SG boots perform worse than FG or increases injury risk on dry grass pitches? Or are SG worth buying since they perform better on soft grounds and maybe the same on firm grounds?

SG boots are made for soft ground. You should not use them on any other playing surface.

Depends on whether you're actually talking about 'firm' ground or 'hard' ground.'firm' ground you should be fine,alot of pros still wear sg in April/may when ground would be 'firm'.very 'firm' to 'hard' ground wouldn't be ideal for sg studs

If you're wearing special insoles for the sake of support and stability, laceless is not the way to go. Not to mention fitting those in a laceless boot might not work out too well.

really depends. adidas studs are only 8/11mm so in super wet conditions they don’t offer great traction. i wear predator 18.1 leather sg with 11/13mm studs and they are a lot better but most the season in england is wet

What if I take out the SG blades ? Can I play on artificial wearing sg boots without the blades ?

PROS wear them because the grass is watered a lot before games to make the game faster. But the negative thing is that the ground is very slippery .

It's not a matter of durability, you just should NEVER wear soft ground boots on artificial grass. AG is literally the opposite of soft ground. Aside from durability concerns, your own safety would and should be a much bigger concern.

He said it himself its not durability but its how the studs work with the ground and will put a lot of stress on your knees and ankles. If you really want to you can always buy plastic studs for your soft ground boots, not ideal but would still definitely work
