From an outfield player’s perspective, the Jabulani was and still the greatest ball ever made , total nightmare for goalkeepers.. that thing flew like it had a mind of it’s own 😂
Irony is that the World Cup the ball was used in... South Africa, had the least amount of goals. It's harder for attackers to control.

So in a way, Spain's style fitted the ball best and it's no wonder the rest adapted to a style with emphasis on the passing game and a lot of ball circulation approach.

Having had the (mis)fortune of experiencing a Jabulani first hand as a keeper I'm not surprised. Never before in my life had I experienced a ball that somehow lost all it's spin mid-flight only to start wobbling in the air before my attempt to catch it. Other times it just randomly dropped down for no reason as if physics suddenly stopped working. The thing just constantly defies expectations of how a ball should behave.
Tell u what been watching Conor for years since his college football days and the improvement from then to now is genuinely insane. That guy picks them out of corners like it’s nothing and is so good and so many different things. I have so much respect for his improvements and his goalkeeping journey
Kieran's scouting department deserves some major props, that keeper puts professional sports into perspective. He's a machine. As Brian Scalabrine would put it, this keeper is closer in skill to some of the worlds best keepers than I am skill wise to Conor. There's levels to this.
i remember complaining about the jabulani to a friend of a mine when it came out. i was like "it's awful you can't even control where the ball will go" he was like "good. if i don't know where the ball is going neither does the goalkeeper!" i was speechless and in awe.

Forlan agrees
Jabulani was used in South Africa and I remember the buzz from the keepers. They all heated it. I just did not realize how bad it was both for field players and goal keepers. Of the 50 with the Jabulani he had many off target as well. With the new ball, unless you edited a lot, it does not look like you had as many odd target. Very interesting stuff

I got back into soccer in 2012 after not playing since 2000. The team I played with used these balls. Imagine first time goalkeeping in 12 years and this is what you had to face. They were a nightmare. You could have a routine floater coming right into your arms and at the last second have to dive to knock it away. Crazy.
Had the real deal Jabulani during that World Cup and man so many good memories with it. I'm sure the keepers I was playing with were probably not thinking the same thing lol.
Bro the keeper I swear Conor is really a talented man in goalkeeping. What a BEAST !

It's soooo funny seeing Conor move vs. Kieran in goal. This is an amazing video mate and what a good sport.
I remember playing Sunday league in goal when this ball was around. An absolute nightmare. What made it worse was the ball would crop up every 3 weeks or so. Many weekends moving early for saves, to going back to pure reactions. Look back on it with love. In some ways I hated it, but in others, improved me as a goalkeeper.

Great vid Kieran and your so close so 2 mil! Hope you get theee by the end of the week
About to watch the vid, hyped, know it's gonna be a banger!!
2010 Diego Forlán would score every single one of those shots
Great video and great GK. Just to make it a little more "fair" to the Jabulani, it would be interesting to have alternate balls on every shot. After 50 shots with the regular ball, I would expect the GK might concede more goals, not only because Jabulani is worst for him, but also because he was much more tired.
Love it! Keep it up 🙌
Kieran and Con, loving these collabs🔥🔥
Hence why Forlan was shooting and scoring from all over the pitch.

Even though Jabulani was nightmare for keepers, 2010 World Cup had one of the lowest number of goals per game in a World Cup. 2.23. For reference, Russia was 2.6, Brazil was 2.7. Only Italy 1990 with 2.21 was lower. Record was 1954 with 5.38 goals per game. There were a lot more goals in the first 5 or so World Cups. Although it was probably more a case of everyone shots going wide or over the goal!

keep up the good stuff homie, ur vids are great!
Every goalkeeper has experienced this 5:29 😆
Jabulani was always easier to save when it came at you either low or away from your body. The reason for it is because it's movement is lateral so it moves left or right where the human body is obviously taller than it is wider so the body blocks better top to bottom. Therefore when the goalkeeper dives and the body becomes bigger on the same axis as the Jabulani moves then it becomes far easier to save. Example I am in the centre of my goal, the shot has been taken and I'm fully diving to my right which is where the ball is heading. If the flight of the ball starts moving it to the balls left I'm going to struggle but if it moves the ball right everything from my hands to my toes could contact the ball and make the save. If I am standing and the ball is coming at me it could whip to either side and I only have by body width and one arm or leg and I have to move one of them while my brain is deciding which I should move. Jabulani moves left and right so to make it easiest to save the goalkeeper has to be moving either left or right, that's how to save the Jabulani. The nutmeg goal is absolutely standard unfortunately
I won't lie. As a South African myself y'all pronounce the word JABULANI quite well🔥🔥
As a goalkeeper I love yours and Conor’s collars pls keep the ‘‘em going
I had a Jabulani ball but it had the “normal” hexagon/pentagon pattern and it still was moving mad I don’t know if it was just placebo or does every Jabulani move crazy. I would do nasty things to have it back
Do we also have a count of how many times he caught the ball, sent the ball back into play, and deflected for a corner as well because I feel like he retained possession much less as well
Loved it amazed with his skill
Great video Kieran! :)
This guy's a legend
props to the keeper i don’t think most players realize how tiring it is to take 100 shots in a short period of time
Nobody appreciates how good the goalkeeper actually is
Bro this was great lol, keep it up
Sure, it seems the Jab. had more unpredictable motion: curves and knuckleballs. That’s just because the strikers were going for that from the very beginning. With the second round of 100 shots, they warmed up at the same time the goalie started to tire.
It's so hard to get a consistent shot that you've missed almost half of the shots. Just imagine if we only counted shots on target, goal percentage would've been a whole lot higher.
Love Conor and have for years same with you so this colas is the best thing ever keep it up Kieron

You need to master it at first you will hate it but when u master it you will like it and score amazing goals with it
Great video! Loved it!
Remembering all those childhood moments at school breaks, seeing how the boys praised themselves saying that they did that effect of the ball by putting their foot in X position and that they were too good at playing and blah blah blah... Who is going to tell them?
The 2006 teamgeist world cup ball actually started this but seems like this age group probably doesnt quite remember it as well... the seamless and bladder combination really made theknuckles and dips nice.. the geometrics/panel shapes mightve had something to do with the weird flight paths as well
