That's not always true. Some neurodivergent people frequently have an urge to stim - which can be fairly easily channeled into a workout, except for the fact that many times they are socially discouraged from that by people telling them to stop fidgeting, and so they stop doing it and the association weakens, rather than people being encouraged to build directly on whatever fidgeting they felt inclined to do as a form of exercise (even when it was something really obviously connected like swinging a stick or swishing a rope or batting at a balloon you spot tied to a pole on the street - not to mention chasing bubbles, which literally everyone tries to do at some point). Of course, sometimes said neurodivergent person keeps stimming, and even if they don't do any additional exercise some will "mysteriously" find that they find an otherwise hard athletic skill surprisingly easy, and be every bit as mystified as to why that is as a person who eats two packets of ramen for every meal is as to why they are fat, even if some of their previous stims are the reason why they are so good at this particular athletic skill - that or even sitting in a weird position, which can also contribute since some of those strange-looking positions look nearly like yoga stretches. Think positions similar to the way you sometimes see your cat sitting, and you get the idea.

Here's an analogy for the fuckin math nerds out there. Your brain has an algorithm for achieving overall well-being which was tuned to work pretty well over the course of millions of years. It's not the most intelligent method, but it has proven to generally work pretty well. For the math analogy, maybe you consider an optimization heuristic. In a simple convex world, this algorithm might be nearly guaranteed to find the optimum, or when things are a little bit tricky maybe it is very good at getting close to optimum. Modern society has taken that simple optimization function, finding food, shelter, community, and has turned it into an absolute clusterfuck. What used to be nearly a bell curve is now a million dimensional mountain range. Your brain's heuristic is no longer able to find the highest peak, it just runs up the steepest hill it can find and then stays there forever. But that hill is like an underwater mountain, while the bare minimum for being content starts at sea level. In order to actually make the most out of life in the modern world, you need to bypass your own basic human instinct and force yourself to traverse down some hills so you can start climbing up a higher mountain.

it is not about "slimmer"; that's a byproduct. There is an enormous differrence between a bag of leaves and sawdust. All you are doing is better organizing your body. The result is removing what is not needed to work properly. I can run faster because I have removed excessing weight, in addition to the muscles becoming stronger and able to perform more work. I went to USMC boot camp in 1983 at just over 200 lbs. 4 months of school later, I returned home where my own dog did not recognize me until after mins of sniffing my hand and remebering. I was just over 145 and with a 36 down to a 31" waist.

Consequently , I gained confidence in my class. I was consistently praised by my classmates and teachers. So many asked me .. how did I have such great a change... Believe me even I did not know the answer until I watched this video...Although I don't notice much change in my physique I had an overall great mental impact due to working out and I love it... I am leaving this comment so that everytime someone like it I feel motivated to keep working out and never forget it's benfits . Trust me although you can't see it , it's still working.Keep going👍👍👍

One thing I’d recommend is if you haven’t worked out in a while or have some weight to lose, be gentle on yourself and exercise moderately but regularly. Once you get into a routine you’ll gradually become more motivated to continue. Too many people are hard on their bodies when they begin, thinking maybe results will come faster. More likely you just end up giving up because it’s too difficult.

Yep this is why so many people quit gym the the 1st month, especially those with new year's resolution on January 1st, They see that they aren't making any progress so they quit but what they don't realize is A, they are making progress or B, their diet cancels out their effort. I've heard a guy say this once and I agree that "one month is not enough to fix a lifetime of bad habits".

Personally I find gym pretty boring so that was the reason I could never have discipline on visiting regularly. I started to search for other sports and I found myself curious about Thai boxing. Well.. I don't miss a single training anymore. I am in another country at this moment and I found a local teacher to have some trainings even during my vacations! I guess many people are like how I was... there are many sports besides the gym and every person should find what fits on him / her

I’ve started working out in the beginning of October. First I started with 10 jump ropes, 10 push ups, 10 sit-ups, and 30 seconds squats. I’m now up to 140 jump ropes, 30 push ups, 30 sit ups, and 1:30 squats along with some exercise routines I found on KZread. Almost 3 months has passed and so far I lost 5 pounds and an 1 inch off my waist. I know that’s not a lot, but I feel a whole lot better than before. I’m 25 and my body, especially my knees, use to hurt so bad when I was working. I used to ache so bad when I get home from work and I knew had to do something. My body doesn’t hurt at all now while I’m working and my clothes feel looser and more comfortable. I’m hoping by the end of next year I’ll lose 30-50 pounds. I have too much weight for my body. I’m just 5’2”. I gained all this weight in my teens because I was going through a rough time and I kept eating to fill that emptiness. Now I’m ready for a change and I’m cheering on everyone who trying to reach their goal. Whether it’s to lose weight, gain muscle, or both I know you’ll make there. ☺️

I would say that although exercise has improved my health (I have anemia, so I exercise to basically keep myself at everyone else's baseline level lol, because it naturally makes me much weaker than others without it are) it definitely didn't do much to help my depression. I still felt exactly the same after 8 consistent months of exercise and I'd still have horrible days where I couldn't move from my bed one bit or find any energy to do anything at all. so I guess something to do is, as he says, is take it with a pinch of salt. everyone's body is different and everyone will experience different things. but if anything, working out does improve your general health overall, so I would say it is worth a try. recognise that even if it's a small step, this is still a step toward taking care of yourself. and even if you have bad days, it's okay. just do your best and be kind to yourself. don't hate yourself for not working out like I did just because I was in too dark a place to function. understand that you need that time and let yourself rest. you got this.💪🏻💜

Lara Bla Most people doing showing their results are already thin/already have a low body fat percentage, so they will see abs easily. Also it because they trained their abs every single day (which is bad because your muscles need rests) and probably after those two weeks their body would go back to normal because they dont work out everyday anymore. Thats why its so misleading: you may see abs or smt in 2 weeks but it wont stay, after those two weeks your body would go back to normal, except if you change up your diet completely to a healthy diet and start doing cardio and ab workouts every single day, which most people wont do because it takes up too much time

Exercise is fantastic - both for the body and mind. I always recommend it to anyone who tells me they are feeling down. I’ve done around 50 Triathlons - including several Ironman races. I think the variety of training is what keeps me interested - three different disciplines to work on, as well as strength and conditioning training. I would also strongly encourage folks not to underestimate the importance of taking rest days as well varying the intensity of workouts. So If you’ve gone really hard at it today, consider doing an easier session tomorrow.

I started wid slow turtle walks, den later i joined gym. I WAS LIGHTSTRUCK because i saw a huge change in my health, my mood , my sleep, my mental health improved leaps n bounds. Doctors were shocked n said u r lucky that ur medicines r gonna decrease so soon unlike others. I also shed lot of weight which i had gained due to medicine. My focus n will power increased too. Exercise is definitely a MAGICAL PILL.

My weight loss story I’m a 20 year old girl. I’m 5’2 & I was reaching obesity. At my highest I was 170. I started eating less junk & less fast food. Only one dessert & one fast food place a week. Most of the times when I did eat fast food I would pick healthy options like salad with chicken. Starbucks has healthy lunch things I love those. Chicken and hummus box is my fav. So I ate smaller portions for a few months. I used to eat huge portions & sometimes two meals in one. I would eat too much to the point of feeling full when I was going through some stuff. I also started eating healthy food most days. More vegetables, nuts, fruits, etc. I still ate some protein though like eggs and other kind of meats. I lost 30 pounds from just that. (170 to 140) now I’m starting to workout to gain muscle & lose fat. it took me awhile to want to change but I’m glad I finally made it. To anyone who is trying to lose weight I wish you luck. :) Edit: Thanks for the support y'all I total forgot about this comment. Update I have been working out on the mirror which has many different workout videos. It's a mirror so that you can watch yourself workout and there is a person on it instructing you during your workouts. Since my family was trying to sell our house showings would get in the way sometimes. So luckly someone is getting the house now. No more showings it's time to get back to working out even more! Currently I gained 7 pounds but I plan to lose it. (147) My goal is to get to 136. Even though I gained 7 pounds the workouts I did do helped me start to gain muscle and lose fat. Also going from not working out to working out for 30 minutes to an hours is great. Also I used to get exhausted from just bike riding one lap. Now I can do that easily and do two laps.

However, when I have done some stretching a couple of days ago I feel better. Like so much better. It really lifted up my mood. I've been working out regularly for 2 years now and I felt everything in this video. I almost accidentally started this healthy lifestyle. A friend of mine had paid for a trainer, but couldn't attend so offered it to me for half price. I had paid for 2 months in a row, so I just attended and it became a habit after that. Almost haven't missed a day since (even on vacation). I was struggling with depression, but now with exercise and therapy, I'm content with life. I have more energy and discipline to get things done. I had pain all over my body before, they're all gone as if it were magic. Used to have heart burns from laying on the couch all day, not anymore. It's an accomplishment that I'm proud of! If you don't have enough willpower to start I recommend working with a trainer at first. I know they're expensive, but you can always look for one abroad and have video call sessions. That's how it started for me, with session being $7 (which I initially paid $3.5 per session!)

I never feel like not going to the gym if my PT is available. And it’s also so nice when you’re going through difficult periods of your life, it’s like an isolated little bubble where all that matters is your physique/health, where you don’t have to think of those other trashy meaningless areas of your life

same, I just started training with a PT. Even though it's expensive it's the best decision you can make. 3 times a week strength with the PT and in-between Cardio without him. I'll have 36 appointments (3 months) and tomorrow is the 5th one. Every week we do a check up at a body scale which analyses everything and already changes are visible: dropping fat and gaining muscles. I just need to lose 10-15 kg but with him I'm sure I'll get to that in 6-9 months.

I walk everyday to work about 10 kilometers. I work two jobs and I train 3 days a week karate and judo (9 hours a week). That's other than the tournaments that I participate in. I've been training karate and judo for nearly 6 years now continously. That's other than doing some house chores for my mum since I'm the only girl at home. What I have realized about exercising is that it actually makes a big difference in life. It really helps you physically and mentally. Even if you're busy, you can't continue your day without exercising. I remember 6 years ago when I first started ever doing sport, I got muscle aches and cramps for around 3 months. I started eating more but never gained weight. My constipation problem got solved because I started drinking more water because of sport. I got less sick especially when it comes to having stomach aches and vomiting. It also helps you to face life and never give up, become a more positive and bright person, think more wisely.... Exercising is the key to success.

For anyone out there wanting to start en exercise routine..I recommend making a deal with yourself that you would on exercise for a certain period (a week or month) and after it’s over you can decide whether you would like to continue with the routine or not. I also recommend trying out different types of workouts not just cardio. You can swim, run, dance and a lot more options. Also, find a playlist that keeps you going. You never know the effect music has on you until you try.

Agreed. I like to plan my workout sessions the day before and set a time in my calender so it forces me to go even when i dont want to.
