Kind of wish you'd let milli's wings grow out ... birds need to fly for proper exercise. Maybe a crossover with bird tricks?! She seems pretty bonded to you she probably doesn't need her wings clipped... doesn't she have an aviary?! Maybe do an aviary review or bird cage review?!?!? Wow, that's really cool. I want to make a 55 gallon saltwater tank but my mom says that it's 10 times harder than a freshwater tank and that I need expensive stuff to do it like a saltwater filter and all the stuff to put into the water to make it salty. I know as soon as I can, I will try to make a saltwater tank. It's probably smaller around 10 to 30 gallons but large enough for like 2 clownfish and some corals and stuff. As someone making a saltwater tank, do you agree it's hard, or is she partially or completely lying?

I know you posted this a while ago but I wanted to say that for smaller tanks, you said "short-finned, female" betta might be better and ime even though it seems backwards at first, the shorter the fins on the betta, the more room they typically need because they're more energetic and not weighted down. Even though long-finned bettas look bigger, they do better in smaller tanks like 5 gallons. My female betta didn't stop glass-surfing until I got her into a 20 gal tank.
It's absolutely crazy how some people are like "here is goldfish. Now let's put it in smallest tank possible and say we are loving it!"

@@peggedyourdad9560eah sadly I don't think most "hobbyists", the goldfish fry in fishbowl people, want the advice of the people with actual degrees or people like me that just study biology for fun and big box stores don't want to change their minds because the more ignorant buyers that think it's just how things are supposed to be when they're buying a new fish every 1-2 weeks, the more easy cash they're making. Why do I already know (watching this at 1am) I’m definitely going for broke on my fish shopping day out tomorrow 🤨😅 “welcome to the gun show if you sit too close you’re gonna get slapped” words to live by 😂
To me when older people say “You’re young what do you know” or “Young people don’t know anything” I guess it just depends on who you are. I was a loner my whole life being an adopted mexican in a white family, but I got raised in nature- gma and gpa always brought me to the family farm- I’d always be studying everything and anything outdoors- found out about crayfish myself in 3rd grade thinking it was a baby freshwater lobster shell in the flood area at the state park I was always taken to and since then I’ve always been obsessed and learned every single thing about them at that age from books in the library. It just depends on who you are and what you do with your mind. Since then I’ve taught many a people of all ages about aquatic and wildlife and i’m about to be 22. Age doesn’t matter when it comes to knowledge if you ask me🧠💪🏾
@discordiacreates6669

Yeah time and experience is often more important then age, though age does definitely matter for some things, but experience level really matters more with how long ago you started to when you can be considered experienced and how much info you chose to take on during that time. I'm 25 and I've kept freshwater fish off and on around half my life and was already enamoured with studying local bugs and other small species around me since I was little, so keeping tanks as ecosystems is just natural to me. There's always room to learn, grow and improve though and I hope everyone continues to do so because fishkeeping is such a rewarding hobby. Also yeah, hear more younger individuals out because I'm sure there are some younger then us both that could teach me a lot about chiclids because that's not my interest so I've simply barely studied them at this point in time, though I will likely sooner or later just to feed my hunger for knowledge ^^
I'm a night owl. Going to bed "early" for me is any time before midnight, unless I have work. I try to get up before noon on my days off, but sometimes I embrace my laziness. Now that spring is here, I go for walks in the afternoon/evening to avoid getting too sedentary.
Me who has a beautifully scaped and planted 10 gallon tank and a collection of various fossils. Hmmmmm. May have to put one in. Why only one? It's limestone, and I don't like changing PH levels. In case you were wondering, the tank is for a pair of yin yang guppies. And before you ask, yes, I have a filter. Yes, I have a heater, and yes, they eat just fine and are very active. Although admittedly the black one is more active than the white one.

Yes, goldfish eat everything - absolutely everything! I had to learn that the hard way unfortunately. When I was starting to get into the hobby I had goldfish. Guy at the pet store said I can put in some peppered corys with them and everything will be fine... everything was not fine. It took a couple of months but one of the goldies got a cory stuck in its mouth and I was sitting there for a solid 10 minutes trying to unhook it (the barbs in the spine got caught in the goldfish's mouth like a hook). The goldfish survived, the cory did not. Technically the guy was correct - peppered corys can be put in with goldfish since they like the cooler end of temperatures but I would only recommend doing it if you actually know what you're doing. I'll probably be doing it soon again though since I'm looking to take down my tropical tank because of costs. Only the chonkiest girls will kept since they won't be able to be munched on but that won't be a problem - my girls are CHONK. Unfortunately, the slimmer males might need to be given away but at least that'll keep cory numbers stable... god, they don't stop breeding. Pretty sure I have four generations of them in about 3 years... I also spotted a young male (probably less than 6 months old) breeding with one of the females the other day. Like come on, he's still just a baby! XD
Dude that last post, I once got a 29 gallon tank for like 5 bucks. The reason? It was dirty from having raised chicks in it. Basically just soaked it a bit and cleaned up real good and voila, a nice 29 gallon tank
I work at night so I sleep after I get off work at 6:00 AM! I think my fish benefit, because they spend the first half of their day with natural ambient light before I wake up and turn on their tank light. Nicer than getting blasted with the LED at the crack of dawn.

That last one made me think. If I'm ever able to get my own home or a place that will allow it, my dresser will become the official home for my 37 gallon once more. That thing is probably the sturdiest thing I own, and the drawers make for the perfect storage. Until then, I'll live in my apartment where my dresser holds a nice 10 gallon tank. Probably going to try keeping plants alive in it before putting a Betta in it. I've had terrible luck with aquatic plants, so I'm trying to find things that are near impossible to kill, like duckweed. I'll probably somehow find a way to kill that too.😮
Not only am I a night owl naturally, but if I try to go to sleep early, my brain just go brrrr and then I end up waking up at like 3 PM
QOTW: I try not to go to sleep at any time past midnight since I usually wake up anywhere between 7:30 to 9 am the following day. I've recently been prioritizing getting at LEAST 6 to 7 hours of sleep every night and it's excellent for having a more productive day.

To be fair for betta people keep selling small tank for them and considered fancy (they even sell it in plastic) because in their mind betta breath air so little water no gonna be a problem, once I ask a breeder and tell him I use filtered 17 gallon and for some reason he mad like literally mocking me for giving something "unnecessary" for betta.
