This Is The Korea We Wanted To See 🇰🇷

Most people come to Seoul, South Korea and want to see the modern fancy areas which is alright, but for us we wanna see the traditional side of the countries we visit.
So today we headed up to Northeast Seoul and had a right day out. Our day started in Naksan park where we took in the views over Seoul and the nearby mountains.
From here we walked down to Dongmyo flea market before meeting some of the characters that make Korea great.
Next we went to Gyeongdong market which is South Korea's biggest medicine market, here we just enjoyed the traditional vibe and ate some decent Korean foods.
Now to end the day we found a legendary spot tucked away in a market corner selling kimchi pancakes and homemade makgeolli.
This for me is what Korea is all about 🇰🇷

You went to Dong-Myo. The average age of the residents of Dong-Myo district is above 60s. Yup many grumpy folks out there. They went through a lot throughout their lives. Experienced the devastation of Korean war and the survival mode that followed when they were kids, you know.

You guys are awesome. I've been following your korea trip and I enjoy your videos. When people ask you where you're from, you can say "young guk" and that means England in Korean (kind of like yingguo in Chinese). You can say "jowayo" to mean "I like it". Or "yepuhyo" for "it's pretty". Sometimes I don't think people understand "areumdaweo yo". That translates to "that's amazing".

❤❤ Thank you. Welcome to Korea. I've been funny it since day one. Still, I think I'm enjoying the snacks such as kimchi stew, gimbap, bibimbap, cold noodles, fish cake, tteokbokki, and makgeolli. ELRIS goes to a lot of markets, so I don't think she'll experience a proper meal. There are restaurants often visited by drivers in traditional markets. In particular, taxi drivers don't always stay in the same place during mealtimes, so they know a lot of delicious restaurants nearby. Driver, I recommend you use the restaurant. Have a nice trip. It's cold outside, so please throw away your slippers... T.T

These days, Korea is known for its culture and technology. However, rapid growth in a very short time has resulted in two distinct aspects in the country. There is the usually poorer, less educated older generation that has grown up in the developing country, and there is the young generation that has grown up in the technologically advanced and developed country. Korean government aims to erase the poor, uneducated aspects in the name of development, causing many poor, local areas to disappear more and more.. But despite their desire to negate that aspect, the young generation owes much of its economic affluence to the hard work of older generation. I think your video shows well the first aspect, which can be called the origin of contemporary Korea (whether they agree or not). Your video made me laugh a lot because it reminded me of the typical, ordinary, older Korean people (who couldn't afford education due to the poor economy) whom I was tired of when I was in Korea, but now I miss them so much :) I appreciate you for your openness and lack of judgment.

The back alley you saw was originally formed right after the end of the Korean War, and is now steadily changing. There is a small royal tomb near where you are, so the Korean government has restricted development for a long time to preserve nature. After the war, Korea was very poor, and the place you are in is also a place where poor people worked hard in the past. I don't know what smell disgusted you, but it's probably because the basic base of Korean food is fermented sauce. In the past, most foreigners who came to Korea covered their noses. I hope you have the courage to explore the deep places of Seoul.
