THIS is My Favorite R&B Guitar Chord! [R&B Guitar Lesson from Kerry 2 Smooth]

kerryskamp.com Want to discover what is one of my favorite chords? Watch this lesson. Hi, my name is Kerry 2 Smooth! I am a guitarist, producer, and instructor from Los Angeles, California. I desire to help as many people as I possibly can unlock their full potential as a guitar player. KZread is one of my favorite ways to do so.
In this R&B guitar tutorial, I'm going to teach you my favorite chord - the minor 11 in the 6th string position. I learned this chord while in the army. It has a soft and subtle feel to it. Once I started using it, it quickly became my favorite chord!
I'm going to give you a guitar exercise you can use to learn this chord in the key of F. I’ll use this chord for the ii and iii in the Key of F Major. The chord progression I’m doing is ii-iii-vi. Instead of doing the minor 7, I’m using the minor 11. Then I challenge you to interchange the minor 7 and the minor 11 within the same chord progression.

What does "minor 11 shape in the six string position" mean? Do you mean minor 11 chord with the root on the 6th string? It's kinda throwing me off to hear the word "shape" used outside of the context of the CAGED system.

Excellent lesson Kerry! Learned about the minor 11th chord in Kerry’s Kamp along with the Bill Withers song Lovey Day which I absolutely love playing! Also when I leaned about the number system on your site as well. That said thanks for the well explained clear and concise “focused” lesson which really reinforced my understanding of it. Also thanks for the chord charts, that’s always a plus as well. Much respect and continued success!

Man... Love your teaching & all yo lessons👍. I'm a slow slow learner.. but I got to say you very much appreciated. Seems to be whenever I'm down.. I always seem to pull-up a leeson from you that brings me up. ( & I've been a 3yrs beginner.. Learning from you when time allows me too. Now this Virus stuff happening... I would love to play good & smooth to bring softness & calming joy to people's heart with smooth guitar playing. I'ma keep practicing.. I've been wanting to join your camp.. but time & money has me on pause/ but one day I'll join. I do have a couple of your lessons on Vime that I need to go back too for tuning-up. It was overwhelming when I purchased it.. but little by little I'm learning & understanding more. I couldn't just jump in it as I assumed. I just turned 50 in November & my brain & everything is slowly....(changing is the best way I can explain it.) Anyway.. I've been commenting with you over the years...& just saying.. Thanks once again..& God Bless You & your Family!👍🙏

I love the way you teach. I'd like to see you create a complete piece over 3 videos, planning - progressions, chord choice, mood choice and feel. The practice - the development of the idea, alterations and additions made, and the final piece plus breakdown - you know, that "2Smooth" magic! 90 second piece, so we can really see how to explore and develop a complete idea beyond phrases. So we can see in context how licks and phrases fit within a given framework. Hope that makes sense. Great work 👏

You're doing just fine Kerry 😀. I am new to your channel but I also follow a few other RnB "how to" channels so that's why I can say that. I especially like your emphasis on feel and doing only what's right for the song without over complicating things. Also you actually sound like the guitar parts I hear on songs rather than just giving a technical lesson.
