In this R&B guitar tutorial, I'm going to teach you a lick idea that you can use for Justin Bieber’s song, Intentions. Basically, you play the lick in 2 places on the fretboard. To learn this lick and play it with the song, the key is to take your time and start slow and build up speed over time.

Great lesson. However I don't think it sounds as good on my acoustic. I noticed a lot of the r&b videos are with electric guitar. Perhaps I need to invest in one

Don't give up your acoustic - it'll help you fingering, speed, and clarity. There are some incredible guitars on the market for beginners. Give 'em a try. As the instructor often goes with a Strat style guitar, you might try a Fender or Squire MIM [ made in Mexico ] Strat.
