How to Create Your Own R&B Guitar Riffs by Kerry 2 Smooth

www.kerryskamp.com/ Learn how to create your very own riffs in today's lesson. I'm going to give you one approach of how I create my own riffs. The key is to make it as simple as possible. One thing I do is to dissect a minor 7 chord and use the notes in the chords. I like to think like a singer to develop my ideas. I also use the minor pentatonic shape.

So many KZread guitar teachers over explain and make viewers lose interest. Kerry does the complete opposite of that. I’ve learned so much from Kerry just because he keeps it simple. I wish you much more success.

R&B guitarists are so underrated these days. Guitarists in rock and metal take all the credit, but not the ones in R&B. So let's change that and make sure R&B guitarists get a fair share of credit and recognition. Even guitarists in reggae music are so underrated too, the guitar skills of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh are not recognized either.

Great job as usual. Thank you so much...Kerry, would you please discuss the timing elements of the licks. For example: when I’m running a lick along with a B T, I often don’t end the lick in regard to next chord change. Surly you can’t be counting while playing all those fast runs. Any thoughts Kerry ?

Just for understanding, you're using the chords notes and then add fitting notes from the pentatonic scale?
