I paid my loans off many years ago. Others would make comments about not bothering because somehow it didn't affect credit, or something like that. I found that unconscionable then. My father refused to help me out solely because of being female, so I was grateful to have someone help me in someway, even though it was just a loan. Of course, college didn't have the outrageous costs associated with it then than it does now. That's what really should be addressed. Because the field I went into paid abysmally, as well as other issues along the way, now I'm not only paying for other people's loans, but my credit card fees are skyrocketing beyond belief. Yet again, as a senior, no help for me and my pension keeps devaluing more and more all of the time while prices skyrocket. Keep losing ground at every turn while expecting to constantly put out even more than what is coming in.

That is called " buying votes " using government funds🤣

Your wrong . The university is a business just like a hospital and the pharmaceutical companies. Some are private , some are state. But, it’s the same system. The slaves ….the doctors , administrators, professors, are getting paid to be in the position. We are all tools. The 1% - owners of the system are the ones to blame .

I did the right thing and saved my money for college. After one year I was out of money. Then I applied for a PEL grant. All my tuition was paid, a dorm room and money left over for books. I took five years to graduate. I worked so hard to save that money for the first year Then had four years paid for with grant money. It was very educational.

Anyone that majors in the lifespan of the bluebottle fly(or similar unemployable subjects) SHOULD pay every nickle of tuition !!

I paid for my two children's college education which I was more than happy to do but I do not feel it's fair for me to pay for someone else's child's college education 🇺🇸

My four sons wanted to go to college but 2 managed it. One came close but couldn't stay in long enough to graduate but did really well. Had to drop out due to job loss and bills. Another son started and stayed as long as he could pay the bills but had to drop out. College doesn't seem as important anymore. Too many liberals in charge now

Agree 100%. I worked full time while taking full time credits in Microbiology and paid cash for my education. Every break for five years I didn't slack off... I got a second job. My being forced to chip in for somebody else's kid to get a BS in from an education system that is so broken is very offensive to me. Now I have to deal with HR Reps who think anything less than a masters degree equates to not qualified. Why? Because if people realized that degrees do not equate to skills and qualifications, then their own degree becomes worthless. They spent all that money to get a master in human resources for nothing. Degrees are the same as fiat currency. The only reason they are valued is because people prop up its value to make their own investment worth something.

i have had an idea percolating in my mind: the way to fight back might be to eliminate all taxation of social security benefits. i am almost 70, worked for 50 years, watching my retirement savings turn to dust, have managed my financial affairs such that i have no debt, and yet still have to pay taxes on the government benefits i was forced to contribute to. now some of the taxes are going to pay off someone else's debt? no way jose. and there are so many in my situation, it is a sure win political situation.

It seams to me that all state needs to follow Iowa lead ❤

I lost my job and forced to early retirement at 63 during the covid lockdown I would like my mortgage to be paid off! If they are going by their last year's income of $125000 then they didn't loose their job and can easily pay it off if they don't by a Tesla!

When I went to college I was a biology major I worked 40 hours a week and carried no less than 16 units per quarter. I suffered and gave up plenty of comforts in order not to have any student debt. While at the same time I had many college friends who would party on the weekends and go to frat parties while I worked. They were living off their student loans and had no money cares at the time. Now they want their loans forgiven? Tell me how is that fair? I worked very hard and gave up a lot in order to finish school practically debt free while the student loan group socialized and relaxed. There is old saying that goes, "if you are going to dance you must pay the fiddler". This administration is teaching that if you are going to dance then the fiddler must pay you. We have completely lost our way and our ethics.

Hit the Universities for help. Come on, Man!

My daughter was taught to spend within your means. She is a Jr. and studing to be a RN nurse. She works a 25-30 hour a week job and cleans several houses. She lives under her own roof and pays all her bills. Yes, we her parents, could do more for her. We are raising independence not dependence. She has zero student debt up to this point. We plan on her having no student debt when she recieve her degree. This student debt forgiveness is wrong.

Well according to her even nurses don't have a college education. Good grief.......... republican. That says it all.

I am a very conservative Christian. I am single, unemployed at the moment, have about 7k in debt including 45oo in student loans. Ive worked all my life and only once applied for unemployement in my life. All that said, you know whats mindboggling to me..sending 3.2trillion to strangers overseas for a war we have nothing to do with while our veterens are struggling mightily to get healthcare and have a increasing suicide rate, our poverty level in this country is soaring, homelessness is at a all time high, our infrastructure is inadequate, hard working americans cant get ahead, drug addiction is at epidemic levels, our judicial system is in shambles due to antiquated laws systems and overburdening numbers of cases due to historical crime rates and our political representatives are largely corrupt through corporatocracy lobbist and lewd amounts of greed and all the while twisting lying accepting bribes that have been legalized but are no less immoral and oppressive to those who can do the least about it. Thats mindboggling. Hey you wanna throw some of that loose change in comparison out way and pay my 4500 student debt go for it..less than drops in a bucket compared to the waste and legalized criminality washington exhibits daily. Deal with your own corruption 1st then talk to me about confronting someone elses. Media is bought and paid for and you know it. The amounts of campaign dollars that subsidize and ultimately support and direct the mainstream media is staggering. Dont be a hypocrite.
