Bass player here…I think he is possibly the most technically efficient bass player ever

35 years of playing the bass, can play every technique he is.... just staring in awe as to how it's possible to string it (pun intended) all together like this. His abilities to switch techniques and make it cohesive is what makes him so unique and gifted. Lots of us can play these techniques... very few can make it sound like this.

You're right...his compositional skills are as strong as his technical skills. But none of this was gifted to him. If you look at his history it's been his entire adult life studying, practicing, playing live at night and studying during the day. He's earned his abilities

As a fellow bassist, I have to agree. There seem to be no holes in his game. He's the perfect union of unreal natural talent, top tier education, and work ethic.

I been playing bass or 33 years and Charlie is an absolutely insane. This is easily one of the hardest bass songs to play out there. Period.

I've been playing bass for around thirty years, Charles is insanely talented, he's also a graduate of Berkeley. He is currently the torch bearer for bass guitar until someone younger and more talented comes along.

Dude has Got some mad skills

Charles “Bear-too” plays some songs that are more complex and contains more styles. This is his 4 string base with de-tuners that allow him to bend notes down a step or two (not sure how far) and he has an 8-string and 6-sting and many more basses. He’s also an amazing guitarist and keyboard player. Obvisouly has an amazing talent for composition and technique. Glad you caught onto his music.

I saw Charles in Concert in Oakland, CA a couple of years ago along with Michael Manring, Kai Eckhardt and Ariane Cap. Insane 🎸🤙

I've not played much bass in years, but yeah, this guy is damn good. This level of skill is what many bassists, I'd argue, dream of acquiring. The man is a gift to the world!

Basses are like guitars, you can get them made with different string setups, 4, 5, 6, string and so on. Look up jared dines and steve terreberry. They are hilarious.

Charles is the craziest bass player on KZread that I know of. I like his really funky stuff the best as opposed to the super fast playing.

ya... bass has 4, 5 or 6 strings..mainstream... you can get more strings on the boutique side... Charles is on another level!!! That dude is all badass!!! You need to dedicate a few years to your instrument to get fairly decent at slap and popping! tapping is another few years... It just goes up from there....

so your reaction is, you don't know about bass and you don't like talented people... well, I loved your reaction, when Charles was playing. That was worth watching. I mean you. And Charles. And together.

They both have plenty of amazing and very entertaining videos. I'd say that I'd like to like them equally, but Charles is a better player. Probably the best. Not that it means too much, because Davie is one of the best too.

Um... yeah, this is a little bit tricky.

Bass comes in 4,5, and 6 strings. And Charles is a 1 in a billion musician. There is only one person born with skill and ability like this about every 300 years. I'm a bass player and this guy has impossible mad skills! Peace brother.

This and that Russian guy are freaks of bass. Btw, bass is 4 strings. They do have higher stringed bass's, fretless etc etc

Bass has 4 strings although there’s 5 and 6 strings bass also but to do what this guy is doing on a 4 strings it’s amazing
