they'll be a band that will pop up in maybe 10 or so years that'll mix rnb, soul post hardcore and jazz like this album did. way ahead of its time.

finding this band at such a young age was a blessing and a curse for me, like all these years since then and i’ve yet to find another artist/band that scratches the same itch these guys did it’s crazy so unique

Hey dude loving the DGD reactions! Make sure when you do the next album(acceptance speech) to do the 2.0 version. It’s the remixed and mastered version of the album and sounds so much better. Keep it up dude!

this album blows my mind everytime

Privilously poncheesied right into will soup is one my favorite moments in an album ever. Those two songs so fucking good.

You should listen to the Emarosa albums with this same lead singer Jonny Craig. The albums are called 'Relativity' and 'Emarosa' by the band "Emarosa"

This album was intended to be their swan song of sorts, with the band bringing back the original lineup for one last slam. This is the first album where every single guitar part was written by Will Swan, their main guitarist through the entirety of their run and the progenitor of the genre, and he is quoted as saying he went all out with the guitars on this album, maybe even a little too far at times. Lucky for us, rather than being the end of the band, this album and its subsequent touring ended up being rejuvenating for the band.

Glad you are enjoying so far… Jonny Craig is 1 of my fav vocalist… I skipped the self titled and Happiness album just to see your reaction to the Jonny albums but next I will go back and listen to the rest in order. DGD is a very unique band. You’re so right they are a different vibe. Chill but upbeat.

Good stuff, man. There are 2 "Hot Topic Exclusive" songs on this album, "People You Knew" and "Perfect", Highly recommend

I remember listening to this album the day it came out and absolutely falling in love with it. 13 years later I still listen to it regularly and still have all the feels. This is one of my favorite albums of all time. Their whole discography to this day is something special I feel not too many know about still. The crazy thing is this was suppose to be their last album and I'm so happy it wasn't! I know ALL the drum parts to the this album, matt mingus is one of the goat's of drumming. And will swan IS the GOAT of guitar to me hands down. I was happy to see your first time listening to it and enjoying this masterpiece.

When this came out I was a senior in high school and I legitimately listened to nothing else for about a year. It was my hyper fixation. To this day it’s my favorite DGD album. There’s something about it, man. I can’t even articulate it.

DUDE, thats crazy your comment about hiking. I got and old car and drove it hours out into the mountain for a camping trip and just had this album to listen to. It was perfect. Those moments driving are burned into my brain for these songs.

DGD peak. You'll be back to this album if you have the ear for it. Everything else is nice but doesn't come close.

This music gets me moving at work and during my hobbies. I remember when i first heard dgd and jon had to grow on me but quickly did. You said, everything is so fresh even after well over a thousand listens, probably thousands by now. Still pick up little nuances that make me cry sometimes because whoda thought we could have something so good. New DGD tickles that a lil

If you're looking for some similar bands, I recommend Eidola. They're not funky like DGD, but they are very, very soulful and combine it with post hardcore very well. Degeneraterra and To Speak, to Listen are both in my top 10 albums of all time. And then there's Hail the Sun, which is also "swancore," (genre named after DGD guitarist). Give Wake a listen. You won't be disappointed.

I'd also love to see a reaction to a band that doesn't get a lot of attention, Sea in the Sky. Their album "Everything all at Once" is great and has some crazy instrumentation

Just fell into your rabbit hole of Dance Gavin Dance, one of my all time favorites. I would suggest trying out Protest the Hero, another very prog band but more on the hardcore/metal side. Start with their first album Kazia.

ive spent many years driving around binging this album. every blue moon, i enter another dbm2 phase. one of the most unbelievably innovative albums in all of post hardcore. this band has had many swancore replicas, but NOTHING compares to true DGD. absolute geniuses.

Pls check "Lost Isles" by Oceans Ate Alaska - imo one of the best metalcore albums of decade.

As far as other bands like this, there are some decent ones in the recommended I can see. I See Stars, We Came As Romans, Hands Like Houses, Jamies Elsewhere, Dayseeker. These are all amazing bands with similar sounds.
