Three brothers. Barry, in the middle, is the oldest. Robin, on the left and Maurice (pronounced Morris), is on the right. Those two are fraternal twins and 3 years younger than Barry. Their last name is Gibb. They were born in Isle of Man but grew up in Manchester, UK and Australia. They have been singing together since young children and wrote and sang songs for more than 5 decades. They have a music catalogue of more than 1,000 songs. The greatest songwriters there ever was. You need to start down the Bee Gee rabbit hole. You will be so glad you did. Thanks for a great reaction.

They were recording Nights on Broadway, the producer asked for a different filler. Untrained musicians, they acted on musical instincts, very good ones, having never heard of volce falsetto, high head voice, that was where they discovered it. Being brothers they competed, Barry was able to continue longer, unusually he was able to add vibrato as well, so he took the lead more often. After a time, he wanted to stop singing high, they said but it's working. All three bro's do lead in some of their songs. They also wrote hits and whole albums for other big names. Try an early version of Words, Jive Talking, Staying Alive, I started a Joke, Massachusetts, The first of May and For Whom the Bell Tolls.

--------------------- The brothers’ careers were from 1958-2000’s and they not only wrote all their own songs. They wrote hits for other artists too. And also for their younger brother (Andy Gibb) who had a great so career. Here’s my list for you to go down that rabbit hole, with my interpretation of what genre I think they fall under: Too Much Heaven (R&B) Went to #1 (you just reacted to this one) How Deep Is Your Love (R&B Ballard), went to #1 Staying Alive (disco), went to #1 Night Fever (disco), went to #1 You Should Be Dancing (R&B or disco), went to #1 Fanny be tender with my love (R&B). Quincy Jones said this was his favorite R&B song. It’s a favorite of mine too. Jive Talking (R&B), went to #1 Nights on Broadway (R&B/Funk)..you’ll hear the brothers “natural” voices in this song. Tragedy (Techno? Pop) It also went #1 More than a woman (Disco/R&B) One of the best love songs ever made! Love you inside out (Funk/pop), went to #1 To love somebody (R&B) One of their earlier hits, from 1967!!! You’ll see how young they were. Massachusetts (pop/country), went to #1 Wind of Change (funk/r&b), live 1975 from the Midnight Special or live from their 1979 Spirits tour. They sing in their natural voices on this song. Alone (pop): One of the songs they made late in their career. Love So Right (R&B), One of Barry’s best falsetto songs ever. Words (pop, 1979 Spirits Tour). Barry pours his heart out on this song and they show his wife & son on screen some while he was performing it. Lonely Days (pop). One of the first songs they wrote after they got back together when they briefly broke up in 1969 then got back together in 1970 to write this. You Win Again (pop), If you want to hear some 80’s Bee Gees, this is a good one. Went #1 in the UK Run to Me (pop) How Can you mend a broken heart (R&B). The other song they wrote when they first got back together after a brief breakup. It was also their first #1 in the US Kiss of Life (rock). Shows a diverse side of them. One (pop), their last top 10 hit in the US Wedding Day (pop), a single they wrote for their wives! All of them had been married for a while. Barry is will married to this day to Linda for over 53 years! Rest Your Love on Me Awhile (country). Shows diversity! Bodyguard (R&B), Robb really shines on this song that could have been played on any R&B radio station! For Whom the Bell Tolls (pop), again, Robin shines on this one. Blue Island - live (pop). This song shows the perfect blend & harmony the brothers have. Especially if you do the acoustic one. Just the 3 of them with 2 guitars! Our Love, Don't Throw it all away-Bee Gee's or Andy's version (pop). After their brother Andy passed, they started performing this during shows in honor of him. Secret Love (pop). I love the best to this song! Barry & Robin leads. This is Where I Came in (live) (pop). From the very last CD they ever released. There is a live version out there from a tv show. That's a great one to see how they have evolved into the 2000's! The 1989 One for all tour medley (excellent vocals & some humor). This is a little long (over 12 min), but they go through about 7-9 songs in this medley with just the 3 of them around 1 mic either Barry in the guitar. If you want to see them (the Bee Gees) and how they work in the studio try: (A) the making of their song "Tragedy" from 1979 (B) The making of the song "Just in Case" (C) The making of the video "This is Where I Came in" from their last cd in 2001

This is a good selection to get you started on. They have over one thousand you can choose from, so get busy and enjoy. Barry discovered he could sing falsetto and it started from there. They could all sing in the higher range, but Barry could hold it longer. Maurice did a lot of the higher vocal bits in many of their songs, especially when they all sang together and Barry (of course) could not do the high bits at the same time. Robin had an unique sounding voice which is instantly recognizable when you listen for it - in the higher range. Maurice was the person who welded the three of them together and kept them more or less sane!

@@Franklynreactplease react to their younger brother Andy Gibb on the Midnight Special singing, I Just Wanna Be Your Everything. Andy was so much younger than his brothers that he had a solo career. In the beginning of 1988 they announced that Andy would be joining the Bee Gees as a permanent member but sadly he passed away on March 10th 1988 just 5 days after his 30th birthday. The four together didn't get to happen.

Each of these three groups has created a completely unique sound and vocal signature; therefore, they have become essential references. In their genre, they have never been surpassed or equaled. The one in the middle is Barry he is still alive today he is 77 and his twin brothers Maurice (dark hair) died 2003 and Robin died 2012. They had another brother Andy a popular solo singer died 1988. The Gibb brothers started singing when the twins were only 6 years old, so they sang successfully for 47 years and sold over 1.2million albums plus wrote hit songs for many other singers. I was lucky enough to grow up listening to them. No one can harmonise like the Bee Gees.

They were amazing. They last recorded an album in 2001 so not as long ago as you may think. This was recorded in 1978. Barry Gibb was the reinforced falsetto, the two harmonising with him were his younger brothers, twins, Robin in white and Maurice in black. They are/were British, they lived their older childhood in Australia, came back to London and were taken on by the same recording company as the Beatles. But different manager. Eventually the went to record and live in Miami. Only the older brother, Barry remains alive now.

They were so phenomenal.. their voices were pure heaven.. they were great song writers too.. It's just sad to me that Barry.. the oldest has buried all three of his younger brothers.. the twins, Robin and Maurice and the baby Andy. I've gone through the pain of burying my older sister.. my only sibling and I've missed her everyday for the last 9 yrs... I can't imagine his pain.

Welcome to the Bee Gees! welcome to Pure Talent. They've been singing and recording records since 1961. They've got a so many many songs. Barry the one in the middle is the only one left. They had a younger brother Andy Gibb who had his own solo career. He died at the age of 30 from heart failure. The brothers on either side of him are twins. Robin with the longer hair passed away in 2012 of cancer and Maurice the one with the beard, passed away in 2002 of a heart attack. Their father was a band leader, and their mother was an opera singer.

I listen to this song every day. It was released 1978. I was married 1977. If it had been released in 1977, it would have been one of the songs in my wedding. A little background. Barry Gibb (middle) September 1, 1946. He and his wife Linda have been married for 53 years. They have 4 sons and one daughter who is the youngest. Also, 7 grandchildren. Barry's chest is shiny with blotches because when he was about 18 months, he pulled a pot of hot tea from off of a table. His mom said he didn't speak for a long time (close to 2 years.) He was close to dying because there was no skin grafting back then and gangrene was beginning to set in. Barry said he has no memory of it happening, just the scars to prove it. Robin (on our left - long hair) and Maurice (on our right - short hair) were fraternal twins. Maurice Gibb (December 22, 1949 - January 12, 2003) heart attack, while getting surgery for twisted intestines. Survived by wife and 2 adult children. Robin Gibb (December 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012) doctors found out he had the same intestine problems as Maurice. When they went in to fix it, they found cancer. He is survived by wife and 4 adult children. Andy Gibb (March 5, 1958 - March 10, 1988) He was too young to sing with his brothers. He had his own successful career. He and Barry could have been identical twins. He had a bad heart. Andy is survived by one daughter. You know the song 'Emotion' sung by Destiny's Child? Well --- the brothers wrote the song (1977) for the singer Samantha Sang. Destiny's Child has too much drama in it. But Barry said he liked it. Emotion kzread.info/dash/bejne/lJOrtryjn5zHqs4.htmlsi=Y863cKzsfSsxKiTP They wrote their own songs and wrote and produced songs for a lot of other artists. Barry didn't always sing in falsetto. They were asked if someone could sing falsetto on a song. Barry volunteered, and the rest is history. Robin sings falsetto too. On a side note, the first born is their sister, Lesley (Gibb) Evans. She can sing, but she did not want to be in the limelight. She lives a quiet life. She and Barry are the last two survivors of the family. (Their parents are deceased also.) Maurice passed away on Lesley's 58th birthday. They were so popular that some radio stations had a 'Bee Gees free' weekend. NO requests for their songs. There's so much to write about them. In your spare time, I think you'll like what they have contributed to the music industry. I recommend the following songs: Staying Alive kzread.info/dash/bejne/e5Od3Nh6ksurqLw.htmlsi=7p2Pbvfime9eHGc-&t=1 How Deep Is Your Love kzread.info/dash/bejne/iqSl08yOZ9ibicY.htmlsi=TJzrh9ns2v1rUvnH Spirits Having Flown kzread.info/dash/bejne/iYt2qNKoddWqc7A.htmlsi=3mpRsV0a-kfCMDWX Shadow Dancing (Andy Gibb) kzread.info/dash/bejne/aZ6T26mShcLQhbg.htmlsi=fgwTh0Si29Axvb7S Bodyguard kzread.info/dash/bejne/eKxputmCe6bZY9I.htmlsi=ZR3i-vkS0bTbUsMd You Should Be Dancing (Andy is with them in this video: from the movie Saturday Night Fever) kzread.info/dash/bejne/c6mjlJt9gMnAYqg.htmlsi=XevU5_t8wV8gQCBS&t=1 You Win Again kzread.info/dash/bejne/fY6Nm9GSg7bQdqw.htmlsi=tNkXzwYEE2uOUi1I Secret Love kzread.info/dash/bejne/m4qnx7GMdretcdo.htmlsi=5DFjJ0rTH1_6GvEw For Whom the Bells Toll kzread.info/dash/bejne/nIij2duSdruvhbw.htmlsi=kqPuP-VmVOO8dkca
