The problem with the kettlebell in the industry is that it's too good a tool making it bad product to sell. If you bought a set of light bulbs that never break, how many bulbs would you buy in your life? Same with the kettlebell. You buy a set and will never need another one again. You won't be a returning customer.

@@red57dryad no worries, I do! You're absolutely right that these are part of the bigger picture. However, in this case I see the physical product as the bigger driver compared to those service offerings. Because there are competitions, but they aren't spectator sports, so it's hard to market them. Community you can find anywhere for any interest you may have. And you only need a KB program if you have a KB. So if the interest doesn't come from the competition scene it either needs to come from marketing the tool, again unattractive for a one off purchase product, or from teaching the benefits, like Gregory does. And he can only reach people who are interested in the first place.

Love your PASSION I’m pretty new to kettlebells 56 years old with low oxygen levels from long covid recent back surgeries, 5 or 10 mins with one of my kettlebells I feel fitter and stronger. I’m hooked on them I can’t do much yet but I will get there. I keep them close and do little but often it all adds up and I’m making progress.

Hahaha my first thought of the picture was he is finally sponsored by BMW! 😂 Please do this type of videos as well. It's very engaging. (Also in addition to the event, the big names push to the young ones and they are not exposed to other types of training like kettlebells (not fancy or quick way to get big they say) It's all about the body building and quick way to get big or have a backside that looks big in leggings). They want the short cut. There's a saying "shortcut killed the deer". Kettlebell is for longevity. They are missing out. We need more exposure for more awareness.

I love my kettlebell training and trust it will serve me for many years to come (I am 71). I was originally inspired by Tracy Reifkind and her SwingLean program. I've expanded far beyond that in the last couple of years after discovering you and others passionate about the kettlebell. I do mix it up now with other modalities for whole body variety and challenge but, push come to shove,. I can always rely on my kettlebells if nothing else suits. I strive to do some kettlebell movement every day. Your passion keeps me coming back, keep up the good work.

I enjoyed Kettlebell so much I got certified to teach. I now have a program in beta which incorporates Muay Thai and Kettlebell, called Muay Thaibata™ Pro, based on my Muay Thai and Calisthenics program, but taking it up a notch. My friend years ago tried to get me into them, and I avoided it. After I started due to an injury over a year ago, I'm stronger, lighter, have far more endurance and stamina then I had in my twenties. At 48 I even got back in the ring, and at 49 I'm ready to go again. You aren't wrong, this is where it's at, and I'm an addict. Thank you for all your videos, I enjoy them all!

Kettlebells, which I began using three years ago, have become foundational in rebuilding my functional fitness so I can better enjoy mountain biking, hiking snowshoeing, and skiing in the mountains of Utah where I now live. I discovered your KZread channel about the time I purchased my first kettlebell. Your clear and easy instructional videos helped me learn to use them without injuring myself, which is key as you get older and spent a career sitting in front of a computer. I now evangelize about kettlebells to anyone I speak to about fitness and I frequently point people to your channel. May your frustration fuel your crusade to popularize the use of kettlebells as an inexpensive and easy way to improve one's quality of life through greater health.

Have loved kettlebells since I started using them 5+ years ago. Would love to teach kettlebell technique in my local crossfit gym or even just on the beach. But here is the problem. I have no paper qualification, just lots of experience from doing and some knowledge from watching people like yourself or Mark Wildman. I am too old to turn it into a coaching business (I'm 60) so I do not want to pay the sorts of prices it would cost to train and qualify and without the piece of paper to show that I know what I am talking about no-one wants to know. I can understand that but how do we popularise kettlebells if people like myself cannot freely or easily pass on our knowledge and enthusiasm?

Even when the hotel does have a gym, I immediately look for Kettlebells, a pull-up bar, dip station. Learning the KB basic exercises, swings, clean and press, snatches,TGU etc are essential and unfortunately everyone looks💩 whilst learning new things, maybe that’s the issue? I enjoy combing KB snatches with pull-ups or concept 2 rowing intervals. Regular gym goers tend to look at me strangely, but I don’t mind, as I know the power that can be developed with this super tool 👍

It can feel like most people just want to be able to buy their success. The compliments they get while flouncing around in their new branded sportswear and sipping on their branded protein shakes might give them a sense of that but if they want success with kettlebells then they will have to work for it, and that takes time. Also, there's no way to keep fleecing a kb user once they have what they need.

I ran into one of the OG’s of the powerlifting, bodybuilding world in 2022 - Randy Wilson. Randy was part of the Fred Hatfield, Bill Kazmaier, Ed Coan, inner circle in the 80s, and he still runs a successful training company in the area (pro and college athletes). I did some contracting work for his family and got to talk to him and pick his brain a good bit about training. When I told him that I was also Kettlebell instructor, the first sentence out of his mouth was this: “You can’t build muscle using momentum. You’ll never build anything that way.” He was respectful and a great guy, but think about how loaded that statement is. What it says about the current perception of KBs. And this coming from one of the original pioneers of adding bands and chains to barbell training. Among other things.

Another bonus is that my wife says my physique and endurance is the best it has ever been, a case of classic functional fitness Stay fit, stay healthy, and have fun doing it In the end it is what one person's goals are, powerlifting strong? bodybuilding puffy? or the functional fitness and strength that comes from bells and body weight I've tried them all, the best I have found for me is functional fitness, I look good, feel good, and can keep doing it into my old age

All the things I have done and continue to do because they work include Oly lifting, rope climbing, sprinting, kettlebells and gymnastics. These will always be “niche” because, as others have said, most people aren’t willing to put in the effort to learn how to do these things properly, even while admitting that those who do are superior athletes compared to the average gym junkie, let alone the average non- exerciser, which will always be the largest group by far. No amount of marketing will change the fact of most humans inherent laziness, combined with their inherent vanity, which will always gravitate toward trying to look good without actually being good. A snatch comp at a general fitness show would be dangerous, as most have no idea of proper technique and would try to cheat as much as they do with quarter push-ups and half pull-ups at the booths spruiking those comps I have seen at every “fitness expo” I have ever attended. BTW, while I sympathize with your frustration, don’t hate on bottoms up presses. They are an excellent way to improve balance, grip, proprioception and a correct pressing groove. If you want a challenge that would prove this to you, I have done 5 ladders of 1,2,3,4,5 on each side of bottoms up clean, press, full squat with a 24kg. 150 reps total in 40 minutes and I am in my sixties. I would like to see whether any/most “influencers” in their thirties could complete it.

Fuck the fitness industry. Who cares? Just like sandbag training and hill sprints, kettlebells are outside putting in some real rugged good work while people walk around these events with their fancy bullshit. I am happy the kettlebell doesn't get so widely adopted, personally. EDIT: I probably also feel this way because I get just as pissed as you when the only time you see people using kettlebells in real life they are doing some silly bullshit. EDIT 2: Definitely keep making videos like this. I like to feel like I am not the only one who goes on crazy rants about frustrating shit like this.

The problem with chalk on the floor can be easily fixed by using liquid chalk. (random advise here, but looked like a good place to put it.)

I love this kind of video. What I love about kettlebells is that I can do everything I need with the 5 I have along with my pull-up bar and dip station. Two 50-lb bells or 22.7kg, two 35-lb bells. I also have one 30-lb bell for rotational stuff that you're not a fan of 😂.

I think the Kettlebell is gonna take off eventually. How could it not? I love the minimal design combined with maximum effects and the exercises are so simple. You are 100% responsible for inspiring me to buy my first Kettlebell a couple of years ago. I’m not ripped but I’ve definitely toned up. Even friends have noticed. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. If you go back to that expo, I hope you’ll bring a small army of comrades that can demonstrate how awesome and effective the Kettlebell can be. Maybe that’s the next step in your journey-setting up a booth and getting the word out at some of these gatherings. If people only knew, they would be “snatching” them up! (Pun intended!) 💪

I love your videos. I save a ton of your short videos for my workouts. I love kettlebells because they remind me of archery in the sense that there is always room for learning and improving. I wonder if many people don't want to tap into that aspect of exercise. Running, swimming, biking seem to be great for exercising while also being able to think about other things. I can't really think of other things when I am try to snatch a kettlebell. That might just be me. Lifting requires aggression and focus but then lacks the rhythm of movement required for the cardio exercises. So we have the kettlebell which covers the whole game. Just my opinion. Thanks for the videos and the good vibes.

Most gyms that have kettlebells have it for decoration. If they use it it's for goblet squats. Most PTs/instructors have no idea how to use it properly.

I am sorry to see you suffer! I am a cardiologist, doing KB and powerlifting ; I display KB in my office and routinely recommend them. The growing niche for the next decade are babyboomers. Teach them to do KB! Your Channel will grow. Teach it to the oldies, be patient! They will love you! But maybe it’s not sexy enough for younger people to be a teacher to seniors….but there is the need, the motivation and the money . All the best from FIBO Cologne!

Gergory, Welcome to America. If you go to any city in America there are all the same stores, same restaurants and same chain fitness. America lacks significant diversity that I enjoyed as a child. Many American gyms have a no chalk policy which is why liquid chalk is now all the rage. HYROX is similar to American wrestling practice. Half the team will be running laps around the mats. The other half will be doing exercises on the mat.

I also a member of National KB team Belgium and is very hard to find new members, totally agree with you KB world is still in a niche we try to make in most 'popular' but not easy at all and yes it's frustrating if you have any idea I follow you :) the target it's make KB training out from home gym only or very small group so next year in FIBO if you want to make some 3 minutes Snatch competition Swing non stop 5 minutes some mini penthatlon.... I m on it ! Maybe it can give us some more visibility..after viewing your video I send a message to my team to contact other people and organize a stand at FIBO next dedicated to kettlebell only so we have one year to make it happen

Agree 100% with you!!! Kettlebells are life-changing in such a positive way yet, they are sparsely highlighted in the fitness industry. I love your passion for Kettlebells. Your coaching approach is genuine and fantastic. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK YOU'RE DOING!!! DO NOT STOP, EVER. Machines are no bueno and don't deliver results like the Kettlebell does. Those of us that understand the value of Kettlebell need to come together and invade the status quo 🙂 LET'S GO GREGORY AND ANGIE!!!

Problem with kettlebells is that until mainstream athletes promote it at a large scale then it’s going to stay in a niche. I started in 2020 and never looked back since and will continue on but it needs better promotion in my eyes.

Kettlebell may be very technical and thats part of the fun. But at the end of the day money is made with cloth and supplements and stuff that makes one feel sporty without any effort. And the companies want to sell more hardware than just one ore two kettlebells that are enough for a perfect and hard workout. - I love to listen to your rant because it is your heart that speaks and you are right. Thats why I love this channel and started to work with kettlebells. Keep on doing what you are doing!

The world still needs good Adjustable Kettlebells, the kind of innovation Adjustable Dumbbells have seen, and they WILL become more popular. Focus on the Home Gym community, make them fast changing, make them heavy enough, and there will be growth. Whoever cracks that formula will make a ton of money.

you probably didn't see many barbell or dumbbell specific booths either, did you? They are basic tools and are used by many sports and methodologies. Every gym I go to has kettlebells, even hotel fitness rooms. You can get them even at discount supermarkets or places like Decathlon. Still - nobody knows how to do ballistic excercises, but nobody knows how to perform olympic lifts either.

I've had trouble starting into fitness, I knew I need to do something, but didn't like most of the usual things. I like swimming, but since I am an itenerant person and always on the move, I can do it only sporadically, same goes for the gym, but I find this kind of activity boring. And then I discovered kettlebells. They are not just crazy effective - they are FUN! And most important for me - I can take them with me wherever I go, one is always in my car, I can swing it in any hotel room no matter how small (often you can't even do pushups and jumprope? - forget it, it must be a luxurious suite to accomodate), in the morning, or in the evening. Too technical? - sorry, but how stupid one should be not to be able to master this simple move?!!!
