Clearly Travis is an expert on sporting clays. That's impressive but even more impressive is his ability to explain why he has the shooter do something and then observe and assess the results.

That fact that Travis could tell he was over the line is impressive in itself.

One of the best instructional videos I've seen, so worth sharing with shooters of all levels. Thank you, Steve, and thank you, Travis. Great work guys.

What choke you suggest in over under for sporting clays

@@MHFA1981 If you are asking me, I first have to answer your question with a question first. What type of shotgun are you using, a semi-auto or an over/under? If you are using a semi-auto I would recommend a Lt Mod or Mod., or in my case a Muller U2. If you are using an over/under you can usually get by on most courses with an IC/Lt. Mod/Mod combo, or in my case Muller's U1 & U2. You may also want to have more open and tighter constriction chokes available for target presentations that may require them. I'm not Steve Gould so I don't know his preference on the matter.

Excellent instructions. I noticed Travis voice cadence is similar to Gil Ash, I wonder if Gil was Travis's coach?

Went from 19-50 to 30-50 average almost overnight from your target focused videos, I've kinda hit a wall but have picked up some key points to apply 👍 keep up the great work! One of these day im gonna beat Mr. Jimmy (father in-law) he averages 40's. Im shooting a silver pigeon 686, don't think it quite fits me right but I love the dam thing !

I'm shooting 5 stand, looks like these tips will work great for 5 stand

My main take from this was that the angle on going away birds decreases as the bird gets nearer the break point, and consequently the lead also decreases. Geat video.

I’m typing it out , before I forget : Support the weight of the gun, with the hands . Move the gun with the hips . Thanks for the video . I tied my best score of 70, two saturdays in a row. Have a tournament tomorrow and Monday . Wish me luck! We’re doing a $65 100 target tournament on Monday called “shoot the moon” at Rocky Creek outdoors in Texarkana .

My two friends , B class and Master class shooters , commented on how different I was shooting and said they were proud of my improvements . I have now been invited to an out of state shoot . Thanks a ton for your videos ! My previous scores were 62,67,70 and 70.

Great video. What 2 chokes would you use to shoot the average clays course so you are not fooling around with what choke to use?

Most of the top shooters shoot Double Mods. Anthony Matarese jr and Gil Ash talk about shooting double Mods but Matarese says switch to more open chokes if your shooting under 70 than as you scores improve tighten your constriction until you get to Mod/Mod

what about different loads for difference distance shots? i mostly use a 1 oz #8 1400fps loads. but for longer shots i use a 3/4 oz # 7.5 1700 fps load. physics says it works and i get better results as the lead needed is smaller and more like the 1oz./1400fps load.

For those of us football guys.. it seems similar to leading your reciever

I am wearing Walkers in the video but I am back to wearing Axil ears now. Just got a pair of their XCOR ears and love them. Link and code are in the description of the video. I believe Travis is wearing Sound Gear custom molded electronics. I have used Sound Gear in the past. Very nice, VERY expensive!

Stance, break point, hold point, and focal point are links in a chain not meant to be focused on all at once, they are part of a routine to set up for the shot. When you're set up and ready to call for the target, your focus does belong to one thing..the target. Practice and repetition with good form will build muscle memory and allow you to trust yourself so there's no need to 'think' about the shot.

If the bird is overhead I wear mine backwards for clear sight picture

Ime glad they took the two worst shotgunners they could find,and wasted film to break down good shooters and make them worse do they can look better,clowns😮
