Throw one more to the mix, Browning 2000. I’ve got Belgium A5’s, 1100’s, and a 2000. All of those are a literal toss up for me to grab for field use. Now the 1100 is my go to for skeet.

I bought my first SA shotgun in 2023. The Beretta A300 Ultima in Cerakote Bronze Mossy Oak. Phenomenal gun!! Bought it late on a Sunday and was so excited I took it duck hunting the next morning after a light cleaning. My first 3 shots on an early morning bunch were all green heads in the bag, and my shot percentage was ridiculous that day. Felt fantastic to shoot and knew I made the right choice as the gun fit me so well. I almost purchased the Mossberg 940 Pro W.E. based on the video with Jerry and Lena and your review, but the finish on the A300 and fit was so good in the shop (for under $1k) that I knew I made the right choice. Performance in the blind and field confirmed this. Could easily see the A300 Ultima in the same slot as the V3 or Franchi Affinity 3 for a waterfowl or even on the upland list. I have not had the issues with the trigger like yourself and a few others, I have a feeling had you not had that bad luck with your A300 trigger you would have had it on your list because it is fast too. Any A300 Ultima fans out there?!

I bought a CZ 1012 shotgun for shooting trap in my 4h group. This was by far the best shogun I’ve ever shot! I’ve never had a misfire even though I only cleaned it twice that yr. It shoots so smooth and is just amazing for the price! Love it. 19:50

I like your videos, I bought the falcon Strike recoil pad, I actually took a couple of rounds of skeet and didn’t really think it helped much! I was wrong, this over under used to kick like hell, I went back out to the gun club a week later, what a difference, first the recoil was knocked down significantly, next I ran the birds on a sporting clays gun I never ran them on before! I’m ready to get another one for my beretta trap gun! It really helped reduce recoil!

None have ever let me down in the inclement marsh environment, But last year I got the Browning Maxus Wicked Wing in 12Ga. This gun has Jumped to my Fav, comes with shims, feels good in the hand with or without gloves, cycles extremely fast, has an improved loading system, and it Looks Great !!

I bought a new Franchi Affinity 3 in 12 gauge after watching your review. I paid $1,000. Later I bought a used A400 with the all blue receiver for $1,100. I think both are very good for sporting clays. The A400 feels better built but that Franchi will surely get the job done. Thank you so much for all the cool stuff you do for the sport.

I have 15k between 2 early A400 xtremes, before the enhanced controls, over 3/4 of those being dove/target loads. I can remember 1 shell in all of that that failed to eject on the last round. I just dumped the shell out. My only complaint would be the recoil pad deteriorating for some unknown reason, Beretta says bug spray but they have never been sprayed. Replaced with a limbsaver and they've been great since.

I've had the A400 Multi Target for a year, only use it for sporting in the UK. I agree with you its the best, why? coz I own one :O bought 2nd hand probably the best option regarding cost. It's a tool for sure. The Beretta chokes are really good, the modified half choke, its magical I swear! it can hit 10 yard or 60 yard. Recoil is so low. Best part of it? adjustability, worst parts of it? that spring noise when shot. Would I let it go? no, no way.

It would jam so bad that I had to pull the entire gun apart to clear it. I will give Retay credit and say they stand behind their product. They overnighted me all new internals no questions asked. It seems to be working fine now but I have since got an A400 and it’s hard to pass up taking that out to the duck blind.

@@derrtyd750 I’ve had a great season using my factory modified. Most steel loads I’ve tested pattern around 65-70% pattern density in a 30” circle at 40 yards. I consider that about the max effective range for the #3 and #4 steel shot that I use. I could probably even open up my pattern a bit more with the factory improved cylinder choke without sacrificing any range. I just haven’t tried it yet since I’ve been doing so well with the mod choke.

The number 1 spot for clay shooting could’ve gone to the Remington 1100 competition but it’s not available anywhere and not well known so probably can’t qualify 😂. I personally had the gun as my first gun and I love the thing.

I have that same gun! It was given to me by a friend whose dad had acquired it from one of his old buddies that had passed away. The gun is in rough shape, and the firing pin was broken. I looked for a while, and it took about a year before I finally found a firing pin. You are right! It’s recoil operated and very light👍🏼

I was looking hard at the Retay shotguns but then I read a few reviews of cycling issues. One individual had the Retay U.S.A. work on it but after their spring change didn’t fix it they wouldn’t do anything more for the owner. That really concerned me & I decided against the gun, I have enough things that break or fail in my life (ie old collector cars) that having a new gun with issues wasn’t one I wanted to deal with. If they get it figured out or Retay U.S.A. stands behind the guns better, then I’d likely buy it.

Interesting findings, just goes to show how different things matter more to different people. I've used the A400 Extrema and the Browning Maxus II for waterfowl last 2 seasons but preferred the Browning due to controls. The Beretta is amazing but for me the Browning was the better gun.

I wanted to get into shotgun sports. There is a local club that has trap and sporting clays events that is near my house. I wanted to get an all-purpose shotgun and since I didn't think I would be quick enough with a pump shotgun I started looking at semi-automatic shotguns. After seeing the reviews and hearing from a popular source that the Mossberg 940 Pro was the best shotgun for the money for someone on a budget, and an all-around great all-purpose shotgun at any price, I got a Mossberg 940 Pro. I didn't want to dump thousands of dollars into something if I wasn't even sure I was going to like the sport once I got in it. WOW. I am very impressed. This shotgun has done everything I have asked it to do. Now I don't have a lot of experience with shotguns and I haven't shot clays with any shotgun other than this one, but when I asked some of the experienced shooters at the range to tell me what they thought of my purchase, they all said the same thing. I would not be disappointed with this shotgun. I put the shims in it to fit it to my size and shooting it feels very natural and I didn't have to spend any extra money to get what I needed to make the shotgun fit me. I am sure that if I had thousands of dollars to spend on a more expensive shotgun, I may be able to find something that works better for me, but after seeing this shotgun come in number 2 on this review for all-purpose shotguns, and the fact that I don't have over $3000 to buy the one that came in number one, I can't say enough about my experience with this shotgun. The first clay I ever shot at, I shot at with this shotgun and it was a hit.

I've been shooting the Remington walnut 28" V3 with a Star Dot ported choke for sporting clays for about 6 months now. It is a very affordable gun. I've been shooting an 870 forever and the V3 points just like an 870. It's a very soft shooting gun with it's proprietary gas system in the receiver and forend rather than a gas piston extending into the gun stock. Because of this, you can modify the stock to have an adjustable comb....which I'm contemplating. I just wish that there was more aftermarket parts available for customization. I still love it!

I love your channel and reviews. I'm in the market for a different sporting clay/5 stand gun. I own a berretta 686 essential and it kicks like a horse. I don't know if a Falcon strike will help. [ I also had shoulder surgery] I'm not even sure if it fits correctly. I'm 6'4" and 290. Do you think the Falcon strike will fix this gun or should I look at a Semi-auto?

FalconStrike will certainly help based on my experience and the feedback I have gotten from others. A proper fit is also a factor in perceived recoil.

An 8 pound shotgun, number one for waterfowl?! Now that I can’t agree with. A lot of us waterfowlers are having to walk in to hunt, and weight makes a difference when you’re also hauling more gear in too besides just your gun. Plus hanging on to it all day. I’ll take my Browning maxus over the A400 every time. Been shooting my maxus for waterfowl and everything else for 12 years, and it hasn’t missed a beat! Light gun, light recoil, and probably the best ergonomics of any auto loader.

Wow I was overwhelmed that you put my favorite shotgun in the world right now and that was the mossberg jm pro . I was hoping you would give this gun its respect and you did. This is the first mossberg jm pro I own and wow . I have owned several several of there less expensive pumps to hunt in the Carolina swamps and we hunt these Maverick because if we drop it while your in 4 feet of water shooting waterfowl or deer your are not out a lot of money. These guns get so abused hunting in these swamps so it makes sense to us. The mossberg jm pro is too nice to take it in 4 ft. Of swampy water to hunt for 3 to 4 hours so it stays at home. I love this gun. I was also glad no over priced new browning made the list. Believe me I am not talking about the Browning Belgium either. My southern friends will roast me for that comment. In all seriousness you have to try out the Mossberg jm pro if you havent already. 😊
