I feel this is one of those times playing the original is less playing what the designers wanted and more what they could get working. The unity version gives the same experience but fights you less

Dude, so glad that you mentioned The Wayward Realms. I've been following its development for a few years now and I swear that way more people should know about it. I really hope it hits the bar with what they're aiming for, it sounds amazing!

Btw in daggerfall you can’t do anything affectively unless you have at least 30 or 40 in that particular skill so swimming is bad for you cuz your character isn’t skilled enough 😂

I have honestly enjoyed vanilla Daggerfall. I remapped some of the controls and followed some tips. Sure, it’s hard, but I respect it. Enjoying the content, man.

I dont think they expel you for failure, but eventually they give you less quests because they lose trust.

2:35 you said swimming is bad the reason it's slow is because your overweight (90 out of 105) and sunken to the bottom of the water (swimming without sinking is having Half carry weight or less I Think) so your not "swimming" more than your armor is weighing you down to the bottom and your slow walking through the water

There's a lot of old school CRPG mechanics in this game that I would recommend reading a PDF of the manual online as it will massively help you with the game and understanding the way it works

This was a blast to watch. I havent played a ton of daggerfall but i really enjoy it when i do.

I'm also more excited for the Wayward Realms than TES: VI. That game is really shaping up nicely

I recently got into DF over the last couple of days thanks to Daggerfall Unity and a recent guide gamerzakh put out. As a die hard Morrowind fan it's taking my brain a while to adjust, but some of the features like climbing are pretty great. I get why people liked it now. It's ruthlessly unforgiving though.

Iv'e put hundreds of hours into this game both DOS and Unity and you seem to find funny bugs iv'e never seen before, you should try a spell absorption mage build its OP but great if you're sick of dying over and over. Great content I hope you play more.

It may be janky, but the amount of content on offer here is really impressive. I wish modern games could offer this much! Here's hoping TES6 goes all out, and with Radiant AI too!

You need either high level of swimming skill or strip off most of your equipment to swim with normal speed.

Because it is slower to learn and the tutorial messages don't work Also it doesn't remove the difficult Character Start from the starter dungeon, if it is harder than Morrowind, it may aswell look the part

@@ThePrestoPrestissimo I disagree. The whole experience was better in every respect and also most importantly, nothing was changed from the original to the now fully released 1.0 remake. I can understand the nostalgia and the feeling of having to understand everything on your own, but since I played the remake I haven't experienced the issues you describe.

Daggerfall still sucks. You were right with your original thumbnail. It'd be interesting to have a series where you play through the original and then switch to unity. Then again, the conclusions will probably be "they both suck"
