Most RPGs' first dungeon serves as a tutorial. Daggerfall's serves to weed out the unfit.

I played this game so much. I became a vampire, bought a horse, a house, and a ship that I sailed around the massive continent.

I became a werewolf, got a letter telling me to get cured but got tricked into killing some teenage kid that did remove my lycanthropy but everyone in Daggerfall hated me as a result and the guards kept arresting me even after I was found innocent and I couldn’t finish quests.

​@@lando8913 Arena was my first, i did not know how to speak english while a kid so i get stucked on the first dungeon and give up after some days. DaggerFall was my second and i loved, i suffer a lot on begginer because i was very dumb but when i develop some brain turn to be fun as hell. I never play oblivion and seems a very bad game, i hated the combat that i saw, this destroy all my immersion, Skyrim was good but combat suck too, so i use mods to fix. Daggerfall combat worked because the game is not realistc enough so you brain can use a lot of imagination. Skyrim and Oblivion don't have the same luxury, a 3D ambient like that can't have a combat like that is awful.

I found out there was nudity when i took my characters pants off when showing my friend the game...

Certainly one of the games of our time.

Ah, the memories. I bought a horse and a cart so I could carry more loot. Then waited in some merchant's store until closing time when he disappeared then stole everything I could carry, exited, and threw it in my cart. Next morning came back and sold the stuff to the same merchant. The circle of thieving life, Daggerfall style.

At last! Now we can finally learn what's 10 things Daggerfall did better than Skyrim.

Daggerfall is old school D&D in first person game. Your class determines what weapons and armor you can use, how many hit points you get per level, etc. All the good stuff. None of that "you get it all" Skyrim nonsense.

You can easily get it all in Daggerfall

This game was my LIFE I treated it like a life sim I spent YEARS getting a boat YEARS on dungeons and Leveling It was FUN….a word I never said in years The more you play the more you will get the feel I have a favorite spot in the game cause there are a few interesting visual spots There is a lot in this game and for a game in the megabytes its MASSIVE Imagination is recommended lol I have so much to say AAAGDHSHA so excited for you to see more

its not that bad. people just need to calm down and read. if something bothers you ingame read the manual. which u can google now if you dont have the OG. its not really frustrating at all

the Regaler dosbox version is broken an needs patches for music ( it only has low but riite files an missing high bit sound files completely) and animation to work correctly as well the right potraits an it plays on cycle count it even buggy . on period correct computer the game much better but buggy. just play the unity version these day without mods or the encahnce graphic it fix most of the bugs an just runs better on moddern machines. Zaric Zhakaron has a youtube old video to get the dosbox version running correctly if you really want to play the dosbox version.

I want him to FIND the Thieves Guild. Is this the Elder Scrolls game you look for a stray pig wandering outside a house and this is where the thieves are? Or was that Arena.

@@greenscheme2040 There is a pig chillin' in front of at least one thieves guild! Can't confirm if that's true for all of them due to the fact there are 15k towns

daggerall is way better than arena lmao, it's just that it's way harder to get into, esp the og oh boy. Unity makes that infinitely better tho so u should check that out if u can :3

If you have high reflexes shouldn't things move slower not faster? That intro fmv reminded me of the original Dune movie. Btw Cantina you could fix the yellow wig with some spray glue, or even strong hair spray.

no the high reflexes was more geared towards your PC. shit PC with low fps means low reflex so enemies didnt hit you too much. any PC after the year 2000 needs high reflexes. as long as you get 60fps here the high reflex is just normal. if you played any newer elder scrolls it would be like ultra high reflex. you have to be nearly dead IRL slow for anything less then high reflex

playing the game like it was meant to be.....dude, dont, the amount of save scumming because one could drop through the world was way too much, still a great game. Also to fight supernaturla beings just use your fists, they somehow count as magic weapons

Isn't it insane that the time passed between Daggerfall and Skyrim will probably be less than the time passed between Skyrim and TES6? Also Daggerfall was the absolute shit in 1996. Played this for hours and hours in junior high.

Finished it for the first time last October. Fantastic with some QOL mods on Unity. The original... something else.

BWAAAAAH AHHH HA HA HA The balding gnome wooooh that made me happy!

i played this in the 90ies, so there was no reasion to not play it with unity and dream mod, and a weapon mod that just autoattacks and maxp hp for level up. That way, the game is really good and smooth to play. Just play it for the ambience its like the horror version of ES. Arena had some character, too but lacked lycantrophy, horse riding, vampirsim, guilds, the lore what really good was, you had all the tamriel provinces so you could go to skyrim and see the snow fall and had a better MQ with handcrafted dungeons.

Hey can you try Oblivions Oscuros Ovehraul mod ? I would like to hear your opinion and it would be funny to see, how you would do as its so incredible hard.

with todays PCs you pick high reaction all the time. its just like normal. but back then with slow PCs it could be annoying if you had low frames and the enemies played like they had 60 fps. you have to be really really slow if you need anything less than the highest reaction time here

The "original" experience. I gotta tell you if you are playing that on DOSBOX on a modern PC with a modern display that it not the OG way. You need an old DOS machine or Windows 95 machine with a big CRT monitor and use the real boxed copy of Daggerfall for the real OG experience.

the frustrating part about emulation especially with dosbox is never knowing if a bug is OG or because of the emulator.

Also unity daggerfall is so much better. only small fixes to make it play like it actually should. and get the graphics mod on top it makes it look amazing to be honest
