@@xinlou6707 but its a standalone based on gothic 2 and i'd say, its rather gothic 0 since its meant as a prequel to all of the others, but even that one is better than arcania (thank innos, for the modding community! )

It s a shame really what happened to the Gothic series. Gothic 1 and 2 were unique and had in my opinion a better combat system that TES3 Morrowind. Gothic 3 was not that bad but i had the feeling that Pirahna bytes wanted to release an average copycat of Oblivion. Arcania was just a low quality hack and slash game with a bad magic system, weird gameworld desigh(mapzones were decent but after you are finished with one you will not return there) and an overall boring questline. In general the first three gothic games(+the notr addon) were a succses considering pirahna bytes low Budget but Arcania was crap mostly because it was developed by a different game studio that had no idea what the series was about and what the fanbase wanted. Would love to hear your thoughts on the Risen series( which a lot of players consider the actual sequel to the gothic series).

oh yeah the risen series ... i still got the first two games! and to me surely its the successor to the gothic legacy (plus i loved the easter eggs and the fact that the codes marvin and minsky are both references to the same person)

wish he did more reviews like he used to, these types of streaming videos are lazy and boring. He's now just riding the wave from his success and doing the bare minimum, just like everyone else does.

Truly a horrifying experience.

This was my introduction to the series and I actually enjoyed it. I got all the trophies except one that was bugged and never fixed, meaning that to this day, it's impossible to 100% the game. I was something of a connoisseur of crap back then though, I also genuinely enjoyed Two Worlds, although I was never able to complete that one either due to bugs lol these were both games that were basically wiped from my memory and I've only been reminded of through youtubers playing them because of how legendarily bad they are lol

I tried Gothic II when I was young, I really liked the atmosphere but didn't have a clue about what the hell I was supposed to do and the combats were tough as hell. Plus, well, I was deep into a Morrowind craze and desperately looking for another game that could fill that need for more Morrowind. Gothic 2, just like any other just couldn't compare. No fucking 3D RPG could match Morrowind back then. Only top down titles like Baldur's Gate or Fallout had their chances. After my Oblivion craze I got myself Gothic 3, trying to give it a chance since I was desperately looking for another game that could fill that need for more Oblivion. The game was praised all over the place and it was such a fucking letdown it angered me. I was litterally furious at the game for daring being promoted as an Oblivion killer. This game is such a mess, the AI is absolutely ridiculous, the main character has the charisma of a carrot. It just plain sucked. I don't care how intricate the faction system is, the rest of the game was garbage. I should however give it another chance nowaday since I calmed down. When Gothic 4 came out I just shrugged and waited for Skyrim instead.

This game has a beautiful world.

I was thinking of buying this game for the 360, good to know that i probably shouldn't.

gothic four is not even concidered a full fletched part of the franchise by the community ! there's only 3 games to us, this one, is such an embarresment even the community doesn't recognize it... its like gothics version of fallout 76 ... piranha bytes' equivalent of either that or starfield (but its 10 times worse and completely outdated in comparison) its so lackluster even early stages gothic 3 would be jealous !!! and yall know how bad that was to begin with! ;)

Hot take: It's not THAT terrible. It's just not Gothic.

Idk if you played it but if you're a Gothic fan you need to play Chronicles of Myrtana mod for G2 its actually so well made you can say its an official expansion

In this situation it doesn't seem bad since it's a pre designed main character. When you get to make your own character though I hate it because the voice never matches the voice I imagined in my head.

@@TheCantinaChannel Sorry I can't catch your streams then. I typically listen to your videos when at my day job doing production based work. I do not have a lot of down time unfortunately. I enjoyed Kingdoms of Amalur when it first game out. It was interesting despite its development history. I love Kingdom Come. I thought they were suppose to make more games in that series. The combat is so cruel and unforgiving.

You should play gothic 3 if you like, thats a great game 👍
