Agreed!. it keeps iron mace in check. So they don’t get too greedy an don’t give a damn because they’re the only ones doing it (not). I’m glad they got competition. I think this is very healthy for sure.

Agreed but it’s terrible they lost so much money in lawsuits and that money could’ve been spent on the game or employees to make the game better. They have a small and slow team that does good work but imagine if they never had a lawsuit! They walked so other Dnd wannabes could run

That trailer is actually genius, the time loop trope was played very elegantly (skelly with the sword through his chest, being the wizard at the end). Would be fun if the lore was actually all the undead in the dungeon where the previously fallen version of themselves :D

Unfortunately there is no wizzard class. Only pyromancer and cryomancer. But the blademastet. You know the dual sword weilding class, is a ranged burst class.... So if that doesnt tell you this game sucks go try it for yourself lol

So these guys already had a playtest for this exact game and the game was under a different name "Project Crawl." From what I remember, the game was alright, although I'm sure the game has changed a lot since it's first playtest.

Unfortunately its bad. Like dumb bad, but dont take my word for it, go try it out. Its ftp on steam atm.

I think there's a reason they cut away every time they were about to get hit by any of the mobs, just some flashy animations with no substance

I think it looks cool. I will definitely try it out. But Dark and Darker is awesome and they have my allegiance.

I played an earlier playtest of this game back when it was called Project Crawl. The gameplay itself is pretty floaty and unsatisfying. Like their approach to actual game design differs from IM/Dark and Darker but the ideas have yet to be executed in a way that makes me want to keep playing. Hopefully it feels a bit nicer in this next playtest

7:41 so true. Remember how fortnite pivoted to the PUBG formula at PUBG's height in order to save their dying game, and became the most popular game on the planet. All somebody has to do is make a game thats dark and darker but better and everyone will flock to it

This is project crawl now with a name change. Anyone who played their last beta will already know how this will play out. Ill give it a shot again too see what has changed but im not expecting much.

@@stankobarabata2406 It's clunky, slow and feels like a mobile port. It still is and low and behold it's game pushed by Tencent. It explains the budget to make it "look poslished" but it just plays poorly. Also if you do try it out, it installs Tencent's ACE anticheat that won't unistall if you if you uninstall the game.

Also, if you're into anime, Dungeon Stalkers is also having a play test during the Steam next fest.

Well it's launch for this game tomorrow and it's confirmed Australia won't have servers, so damn lame man. Our closest server isn't even on Singapore which it usually is either, it's Hong Kong. Rip.

I played one of the playtests for this game. While I didn't really like it that much, it did at least try to do SOME things differently from Dark and Darker, which is more than I can say for the other clones.

@@mosese1172 Combat mechanics are handled differently, for example mobs can stagger when hit hard enough, there are charged attacks (for staggering mobs), there are potions with effects that last the whole raid that AREN'T luck pots, blocking only prevents a percent of damage unless you were using a very high tier shield, and various other things I don't specifically remember.

@@Thatoneassclown honestly from that information sounds like the combat could last a bit longer and be a bit more fleshed out, looking forward to trying it as well

At a minimum, it will be a nice distraction from laggy servers while IM is cookin up some netcode spaghetti

Cant wait for IM to get back on steam, I think the game would be so much farther along in development if they didn't have to rush making their own launcher/servers/etc.

i only recently even learned that most of dark and darker is bought assets

Doesnt really matter. A lot of games are like that. The things that matter are is the experience coherant? Is it fun? If the answers are yes then not much else matters.

I played the qa test and it's gooooood. I like that there's an icon you can get to randomize a slot to lock it so once you die the item in that slot goes in your inventory. This game is slower paced than dark and darker.

Pvp looks like mobile game action, especially if you go to their youtube channel its even more apparent. Some people say this is a dark and darker killer those people are also blinded by overcompensated CGI trailers Also they have a 30x $50 giveaway which shows they know their game isnt good enough to spread on its own and needs artificial traction.

the skill icons in the game are also diablo 4 esc. I say esc. but they are the same icons with tiny changes. I did some looking around and it seems an artist made knock off variants of diablo 4 skill tree icons for free. So I'm starting to wonder how they made the cg trailer and any art related to the game, ue5 assets sure, but is anything made in house if even the skill icons (something that would take me 20 minutes to 2 hours to make) can't be original. Either way I'll be trying the game tomorrow.

it looks like any fight with any spellcasters will become a case of not being able to see anything at all

This used to be called Project Crawl. I had the pleasure of playing their playtest, and while it's UE5 shelf assets like Dark and Darker, they have some different ideas on how to iterate on the IP. Previously, there wasn't any weapon collision and the pvp combat/pve combat felt pretty soulless. Now, though, with them highlighting the parry mechanic and showing shield collision, I'm actually stoked to check the game out. There's a playtest going on in a few days. Should get in on it, I think.

Doesn't really matter that it's all from DnD, the actual reason this exists is because of DaD and it's success and that's the simple fact of the matter. Every time a new genre appears and is popular you see hundreds of clones and copies and ripoffs. BRs got popular? You legit had the market flooded and spammed so bad, sometimes even with good ideas, that it basically killed the genre itself. Overwatch became popular and that's why we have the tons of cancelled and dead OW clones, even OW itself is dead now. Then Tarkov grabbed the gaming world by storm and suddenly everyone and their grandma made an extraction shooter, hell Dark and Darker is almost a direct result of Tarkov's success. Among us spawned so many deceit type games including blatant Chinese copycats. Any time someone finds a brand new winning formula, there's like 100s of creatively bankrupt game studios ready to leech off it with mediocre clones. Current gaming ecosystem is indies pioneer new things, and usually then get their ideas copied by everyone else who wants a piece of the pie - that includes megatitan AAA studios and publishers. I mean, Activision tries to keep Warzone in mint condition while their singleplayer and multiplayer is basically the worst and most boring it's ever been. And Warzone is just Activision trying to snatch a piece of Fortnite's pie. I mean AAA studios are deathly afraid of risking and pioneering because it hurts their bottom lines, so they just wait and see what's popular then try to ape it then wonder why they aren't making Fortnite money - because nobody wants to play your watered down version of a BR, which is already an over-exploited genre. And the ACTUAL original source is Tolkein's work, without him DnD wouldn't exist.

I like how the game looks but the animations need work in my opinion. DaD has a more smoother swing animation and that just rubs my smooth brain 🧠

The wizard skills are actually looking pretty dope. It's been a while since we have had some updates on the old classes. When was the last time cleric got a new spell? They haven't even made most skills usable. Every fighter uses sprint and second wind still. Just an example

@@TheSpudHunter After joining their discord, and looking at their videos, art, game-play, and everything.. I hate to say it.. but the team seems far more competent and skilled than the Dark and Darker, while having what I personally think is a better way towards balancing. The magical effects, and look seem to be more than just "buy the assets and make them work" like Dark and darker, nicer visuals, and more varied enemies. I guess we'll see when the play test hits, but if I had to put my money on one of the teams, I would honestly put it on the Dungeoborne team from what I've seen.

I mean I get the most of the concerns. But what I really dont get is why tf everyone literally shi**ing themselves because this uses the same "free" unreal assets. Like besides Unreal noone has a copyright for this assets. And thats the sense behind it. Thats the first point. The second point is going along with the first one. I dont f*c*ing care who steals by who and who used what freakin asset first. I, as a consumer, just want to have THE BEST product. I couldnt care less from who it is. Some devs in japan, some devs somewhere in Europe, America... I dont freaking care at all. The next thing is: Everyone is crying around like "uuuuuh this looks like Dark and Darker (insert childish crying noises here)". But noone is complaining like that about something like Lords of the Fallen. I hear noone crying like "eeew this is like dark souls". Ya fellas you know what? Success makes attrctive. Of course if theres coming up some succesfull gameplay model. Other trying to copy it! Battle Royale games. Exctraction shooters... You name it, it's there. Escape from Tarkov was one of the first successful games with the "extract and keep your loot" system. And since its so popular. Other devs trying to create similar games. Thats normal. Thats good. Thats what it was always was like and always will be like. So stop complaining that Dungeonborn is using the same Unreal Store Assets as Dark and Darker. Stop acting like Dark and Darker invented all by themselves. Sorry to break your little dream fellas, but they did not. At least not asset wise. So instead of crying around about hilarious stuff like this, rather start to enjoy that there are more games like Dark and Darker are coming. So people who dont like Dark and Darker maybe find an alternative for themselves.

Its amazing, I'm playing this OBT and I'm legit addicted to it. It feels just like back when I tried DaD for the first time. Its personal preference, but for me this game already feels better than DaD, I enjoy it more

Game has changed a bit since that. Rogues can't one shot unless they have insane gear and barbs can't use invis pot unless they get 15 knowledge. Barbs are pretty fast and strong still, and they are definitely meta for solo play, but I doubt you will see many landmine barbs out there unless they use the darkness

More actually well developed games in the genre is always good for us the consumer. It will only make Ironmace stronger as they now have another reason to keep being creative.

It looks like a more polished version of dark and darker. I dunno looks cool. Itll be great for dark and darker to get some competition, incentivize some new ideas and cool stuff on all fronts. Stoked to try the demo of this if/when we can!

They have already had play tests and as someone who was lucky enough to get in, “polished” is NOT the word. They took a few different stances from dark and darker (which I think ironmace will uno reverse card and use as their own) but over all it’s another cheesy China rip off. BUT never the less it’s always fun to see these games pop up and have a good chuckle at

It's not gonna be as strategic and slow paced as DaD. Dungeonborne (Project Crawl) is more action-paced and mobile-game'ish type of gameplay. But that doesn't mean it won't be fun. It's definitely possible to still have fun and enjoy the game. The main problems with these type of games are still going to be cheaters and balance. If they can sort those two out, there's no reason it can't be a successful and fun game.

Yea i doubt it is as polished as dark and darker. People complain alot about the lag and bad servers etc. But the amount of precision and reduction of desync they have managed in an online multiplayer action game, is astonishing and unlike any i have seen before. People have no idea what they are talking about.
