    ah well arn't we lucky, the fastest crossbows around, still its nice to see some new videos with archery, its been a spell Cam, have you checked into the stuff from bishop archery they have broadheads up to 600 grains, its crazy. also something like you had with the scorpid alone would be enough to hunt game in africa, so this would as well not just north america.

    I've always been a fan of Tenpoint - I have an old Wicked Ridge from college - but they never cease to impress. I'm not a big fan of RDX bows, just for stylistic sake, but this thing is clearly in a league of its own. And you, Cameron, continue to get better and better. You've always been excellent on the details but I'm glad to see your subscriber count represents your quality now, at least to a better degree. Loved seeing the shot of the bow being cocked. Hope the daughter is well and you are enjoying your new truck.

    I wanted to make a little “me space” down in my unfinished basement. I wasn’t looking for something crazy expensive but I did want it to be comfortable kzread.infoUgkxitRzxya-XugamYgLwa_2G1gxPg4MCJHa as I planned on using it to escape reality and have an inviting place to go when I need “me time”. It came very quickly and it took me maybe 30 minutes to put it all together by myself. I will say, the boxes it comes in are awkward shaped and LARGE. So I did have to have help getting it inside. But it is SO comfy. It’s a little on the firm side but I prefer that. The back is not that attractive but I cover it with a blanket. All in all, I would 10/10 recommend it to anyone.

    A certain well-known reverse draw crossbow manufacturer has done even better than that in testing, but shooting at targets is problematic because if you don’t shoot a fresh spot every time, you’re going to start losing vanes as the arrows bury themselves past their nocks.

    @@crookedintelligence2421 who is your comment for? I made no claims only a simple statement. I thought this video was going to be a comparison video between a crossbow and a pistol. Never saw a 357 go through a 2x4 and a cinder block and by this video i guess it can do one at a time. Title should have said goes thru 2x4 then later a cinder block. I do think if you were to check out extreme penetrator ammo, a 357mag may be able to do both but i dont have cinder blocks i want to waste right now and ammo cant be found. I also think a leverevolution from a (henry) carbine stands a good chance too, although it may mushroom too much thru the 2by, not sure how they expand in wood compared to deer...bottom line i think his title was a little click baity. Thanks ima check out a 42 mag. I know the 41mag seemed to have gone by the wayside and i think the 44 mag uses a .429 bullet maybe the 42 was the early 44, like bullet vs case size throw back or some patent law.

  • @MrGsteele
    @MrGsteele4 жыл бұрын

    Um - the title comparison seemed a bit over the top, so I did some figgerin'. A .357 is nominally between 5 and 800 lbs-ft of muzzle energy, out of a pistol; even the 465 grain arrow at 470 f/s would come in at 228 lbs-ft, and the 370 grain arrows at 182 lbs-ft, so I scratched my head at the claim. That was before I watched the video, and realized that you were using momentum. So comparing momentums, the crossbow, even using the heavier value for arrow weight, comes in at 31 lbs-ft, and the .357 comes in at about the same momentum - but that's for a pistol, using a 1700 f/s 125 grain bullet out of a 6" barrel; out of a rifle, the velocity is a good 400 f/s faster. Not sure where you got the figure for the carbine; I got my number for the 125 grain from BBTI. So I think I get what you are saying: that the very high velocity of this crossbow makes it inordinately lethal as crossbows go, and in the same range as a hunting handgun cartridge - if you use momentum or a figure of merit like a Taylor KO value, which is a more restrictive claim than the "powerful" claim would appear - particularly in the bullet world, where energy is used rather than momentum for comparisons. The real question is, what is the effect observed in the field with regard to the ~knockdown power of a crossbow when compared with something like a .357 out of a carbine? I would think that as you approach that magical 2200 f/s threshold that seems to bring with it some secondary shock effects, the two would depart from one another in effectiveness. Is that what you've observed in crossbow hunting? Does the higher velocity in this range produce a noticeable difference in knock-down?

    @@TWANGnBANG With regards to teen rebellion; I recall some research claiming that in addition to hormone changes, that some of it is caused by not getting enough sleep. Teens have a delayed sleep cycle compared to younger children and adults. Their internal clock causes them to stay up later and wake up later; as such if they are forced to wake up early then they won't get enough sleep and will be more moody. This is one of the problems with schools starting at 8:00 AM; although unfortunately it seems lawmakers and school boards don't really listen to scientific research.

I interested to understand a bit more about the performance on the long range such as 80 yards down to possibly 100+ yards just for fun and see how precise it is? Would you be able to share with us some more details on the optics clarity, comparison to other high speed crossbows? @@TheCraigy83 What do you mean by "drag stabilised" ? Lighter arrows will lose speed faster due to drag regardless if they have fletching or not. The only thing fletching does is help with aerodynamics which translates to accuracy not with speed. This is why I don't trust modern companies that produce bows and crossbows when they always advertise FPS because when using lighter arrows you can achive high FPS speeds with almost any crossbow if arrows are light enough and besides those speeds only apply to blank range not at distance. What I want to know is what speed does an arrow have at lets say 50-80 yards aka right before it hits the target. This is something Romans figured out with their ballistas and scorpions which is why their projectiles were heavier More energy transfer, less drag, more momentum but at the expense of gravitational drop and less accuracy due to lower aerodynamics. What is also amazing is how similar reverse crossbows work to ballistas/scorpions which use torsion.

    Not sure if I'd ever buy one, but it looks beautiful. At 2500 dollars though, not really worth it. The whole point for using a bow is to be able to recover your projectiles, can't do that when it's stuck in a tree. When arrows/bolts can be 5 to 12 dollars each, sounds like a good way to throw away money.

    That looks like a lumpy chunky uncomfortable crossbow to hold. I think I'm going to stick with using the bows I make myself. Way more comfortable. This thing probably does have as much penetration power as a 357 though that was impressive. Nowhere near the shock energy involved but the bow seems to perform okay. However for the price they're going to have to actually make it as powerful as a 357 before I buy it. Samyang Dragon claw and some air Venturi air gun bolts outperform this thing by a large margin for around $600. So for those of us on a budget that can't be beaten

    It’s the opposite- super comfy to hold and shoot. You only hold the pistol grip and the forend. I shot an AirBolt through a Durango, though in NC you can only hunt with airguns during firearms season even if you’re launching arrows with them: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gJZrp86lnrW7lNY.html

    It's not how fast it is, but rather how efficient it is. The record for moose harvested in Ontario by a crossbow was using a "lowly" 150 lbs. Excalibur Vixen crossbow. That being said all these "speed wars", are just a crock of you know what. Having just enough power to go through your target is all that's required. Anything beyond that is just an excessive waste of energy and money. It's a well know fact that Tenpoint crossbows over-priced. They are a prime example of a product that after the first 20% of the price, every dollar spent exemplifies diminishing returns.

  • @GratefulSledHead
    @GratefulSledHead5 жыл бұрын

    I have the money to afford one of these crossbows but live in NYS. However our hunting laws limit crossbows to maximum of a 200 pound pull and 17" uncocked limb width. I wonder if Tenpoint could create removeable "limb extenders" which could also function as "noise dampeners" to help those of us in restrictive states to meet the requirements. Pull weight could possibly be addressed like they do with compound bows by turning out limbs or replaceable modules (i.e. Mathews Vertix). I am sure there are more states that have similar restrictions. Why would I and other people want a modified "compliant" bow like I described? Some of us hunt in other states without restrictions and would like to use the same bow. Additionally we are fighting to expand crossbow use and trying to remove laws placing restrictions on crossbows. The bow that is illegal today maybe legal tomorrow.
