This Combat Vehicle On Another Level. Insane Power of Ajax IFV.
The Ajax is set to revolutionise the British army’s fleet of vehicles. The Ajax family of infantry fighting vehicles will modernise the army in the UK and bring it up to speed with an ever-changing digital world. Against previous models, it has much-improved lethality, survivability, reliability, mobility and all-weather intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and recognition capabilities. Despite issues in the production cycle the Ajax is still set to see action in the next few years and the world waits to see what it’s capable of. Let’s take a closer look at why.

Well BAE should have agreed to build the CV90 in the UK like the MOD asked instead of trying to play hard ball and undercut the government on the MOST BASIC THING THEY ASKED FOR in the programe and then come running back when GD says they will happily build it in the UK and cry for the contract back. The single MOST important thing the MOD wanted for this programe was no matter what it must be built in the UK, so BAE naturally come with a proposal to build them in sweeden........ great thanks.

The Puma has more issues than you can imagine. The Lynx is way heavier and performs different roles and is still not as proven. The k21 could have been an option, but I guess since epoland already got their hands on them and Korea barely keeps up producing for themselves, the availability was an issue on that vehicle. So the ajax makes kinda more sense. Especially now after final tests have shown that the gun and electronics work pretty well.

The armor protection is similar to up armored warrior, the CV 90 Mk 4 engine has 200 hp more and advanced semi active hydro-gas suspension . To fix the noise and vibration isolation mounts were fitted to seats and driver controls and thick comfy seats along with noise cancelling headsets! Interesting to note the M10 booker GD light tank now has hydo-pneumatic suspension instead of the dated torsion bar suspension of Ajax which does not work well with weight gain . CV 90 with Bushmaster cannon would have cheaper supply chain and Nato ammo , the main reason for CR3 120 mm smooth bore upgrade . Hiding the faults of the design was clearly fraud , vibration will increase wear and costs , perhaps it will get rubber tracks later at Government expense !

So they still haven't fixed the vibration issues? (I wouldn't call thicker seat cushions and noise cancelling headphones a fix.) I was always very critical of the German Puma. Always thought that it was a weird decision to invest so heavily into making the track- and suspension systems separate modules that are then bolted to the vehicle. They always said the big advantage is low vibrations inside the vehicle and more safety and protection by having no holes in the hull for torsion bars or other suspension-stuff. I was skeptical whether that is worth the effort. Looking at the issues with the Ajax, I'm starting to come around on that matter.

We no longer have enough tanks to field a full armoured brigade like that... the world is getting so much more dangerous and we can no longer 100% even rely on the US. Donald Trump will do as he pleases NATO treaty or not and as such Europe MUST step up and be capable of defending itself possibly without US help. Russia is an incredibly dangerous enemy because Putin has doubled down and is transferring his country to a full war footing. Like we did in WWII everything in Russia is subordinated to the military effort and when peace or victory comes in Ukraine within a very short period of time they will be an ever increasing threat again. A threat we know Putin will actually follow through with if he chooses. Russia will be a war economy outproducing us and we may never have the time to catch up.

The size of gulf between current capabilities and the evolving drone threats , make the delays even more worrying especially since 2014 , when stepping up to production and development urged more production lines and larger test groups than the horseguards parade , which can probably fit all these in and sill leave space for the corporal major to make an effective parade around !

People tend to underestimate the Boxer because it looks like any other 8x8 APC, but it actually is twice as heavy as all the other ones and plays in its own league. It is the only wheeled APC in the 40 ton class, with protection levels equal to that of a modern tracked IFV. That is why they can do stuff with it like put a 155mm howitzer module on it and fire it in all directions without tipping the vehicle over and without need for extendable stabilization legs. It can be used as a "taxi" (x), but isn't limited to that role, thanks to its unique modularity. (x) The German army is currently building up what they call "Medium Forces", which basically turn their former "Jaeger" light infantry, which formally would only use trucks, cars and helicopters for transport, into something akin to US Army Stryker battalions/regiments. For that they are getting different types of Boxers, some simple "taxi" APC versions only armed with .50cal heavy MGs and 40mm automatic grenade launchers and some with a 30mm cannon and a ATGM launcher, much like the Australian recon version of the Boxer, just that the gun turret is purely external and does not penetrate into the passenger compartment, enabling that version to still transport the full contingent of 8 passengers.

Recce vehicles aren't really designed to function as offensive weapon systems. The expectation is that a recce crew will locate the enemy force, identify its size, strength, capabilities, weapon systems and direction of movement, or its location within a grid square, and maintain contact and continuous surveillance with without being detected. The 40mm autocannon mounted on the Ajax recce variant is there mainly as a means of self-defence.
