New subscriber for The Sixsters! Thanks for your great reaction, this band is amazing. You'll find that each song is almost like a different band, they really have something special. They are refugees from the war in Ukraine, but have risen above the hardship to create and share their art. Next songs could be "Feels," a punkish song with them in heavy weird makeup, "For Us...For Me," which finds them in pretty dresses (and tennis shoes), which starts out sultry and rocks out at the end. "Hold" is a simple acoustic song, and "Same Kid" is a banger that shows off their technical chops. They are very good musicians, and great at their craft. More Sixsters! 😀

Thanks for reacting to the Sixsters. They deserve it❤ Please continue to their other songs since they have many different styles to offer! Try "For us .. for me .." and "Seem to dance" for example. But besides Band Maid and Queen this is one of a few bands where you can pick any song ❤ Some might say, that they are searching for their 'home genre' .. I would say: They provide us with a great variety of sound. I hope that I will see them live at July 5th in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.

After hearing the last three songs on the Christmas livestream, I think we're going to hear some really experimental sounds. That second or third to last song on that livestream has Maria dropping "F" bombs left and right. They definitely aren't afraid to rattle people's cages!

@@DanL---2024 It was great! They are punk!!! I heard some new songs (for me) that I really loved. Some 'rap' parts of Maria and all those moments where they sing together ... so great. And it's so cool seeing them live ... How young they are ... still 😅 Sadly the weather wasn't very good: windy and quite cold ... But no rain 👍🏼 so I enjoyed the performance with my family. I think my daughter (12) is a new fan 😍

I'm glad you and your daughter enjoyed the show (Maria's "F" bomb in "Wedding" notwithstanding :) It's great to see them doing 4-part (even 5?) harmonies live, it really fills out the sound. I'm coming into a little inheritance and am thinking about coming to Germany next year if they have another small event like a party. What is the best airport to fly to near Essen? Good hotels? I might have to learn some German 🤔

Well for starters, they're Ukrainian. They were formed as a project of a Ukrainian producer/performer in 2017, when they were really young. I think the oldest is 21. They're currently based in Germany, as Mr Putin has made their homeland an unfit place for nice young ladies (which they are). I not only admire their talent but their determination. After the invasion they were scattered but managed to reunite to make their best music yet. And they care. They've done multiple fundraisers for children not lucky enough to get out. And when they got that new van they donated the repaired old one to a Ukrainian family, packed with toys and sweets for the kids. Great reaction! Check out "For Us, For Me" its probably their best song to date.

On Anya’s utube Unicorn Guitarist 2022 she stated she was 19 years old.

Just a bit of backgound on this song. it was originally in Ukrainian and had more of a prog vibe. when Maria joined she translated it. when it came time to do the video they chose to give it a punk fell and got Maya the keys player to play DJ

Welcome to The Sixsters, my favourite band at the moment. The band are currently Kate (15) drums, Polina (16) bass, Sofia (?) Keyboards, Anna (21) Lead Guitar and Maria (17) Lead vocals and Rhythm Guitar. Sofia recently replaced Maya (14), whose family returned to Ukraine last September, unsure on Sofia's age. Sofia replaced 14 year old Maya on keyboards (turntable on this video) when her family returned to Ukraine last September. This video was 2 years ago, so subtract 2 from the ages for when they recorded this. The band started in 2018 by then 9 year old Kate, she has her own YT Channel, started when she was 7 where she did drum covers. She had started playing as a guest with adult bands and wanted her own band, as there were no musical kids in her area, her dad, Alex, advertised for girls to form a band, The Sixsters were born. Originally 6 girls, aged 7 to 12, the name came from six sisters in Rock. At the start their songs were written for them. kate's the only one remaining from this time. Early on the vocalist changed from Victory to Kira K and an additional bass player Kira P was added as the youngest 7 year old Taya lived close to Poland and couldn't make all their gigs. The band stood as 7 members until the start of the war. During 2021 the two current guitarists replaced the original girls, Maria replaced Alona and added a second vocalist and English language as well as guitar to the band and Anna replaced Ira. This was the band when the war started. They had a stadium tour of Ukraine lined up supporting one of Ukraine's biggest Rock bands, but the war started. Kate's home where they had their studio was destroyed in bombing and all but Taya's families fled Ukraine. Five months later, 5 of the 7 girls met up in Germany and resumed the band. Taya stayed in Ukraine and Kira K decided not to rejoin, so Maria took over lead vocals. Since then Kira P's and Maya's families returned to Ukraine and they were replaced by other Ukrainian refugees Polina and Sofia. This is a great rabbit hole to go down, they change styles effortlessly. They have a small following, much smaller than they deserve, but understandable due to their age (most still in school) plus the disruption they have had in their lives.

I know you're not the only one who keeps saying it, but Anna is only 19 years old, not 21. Look at the reply the band gave to the question about their age on the I Stare At You video.

Actually, in a video she posted in her KZread channel in February 2022, she specifically says she's 19. She would have turned 20 on her birthday in late December, 2022, and then turned 21 in December 2023. Her KZread is Unicorn Guitarist.

On Sofia's TikTok, she celebrated her 16th birthday on August 31, 2023.

Katya’s (Kate Kuziakina) biography on her old u tube channel says. She’s self taught from u tube (small town with no music at school).She started her own channel at 6 with her older sister filming and helping her with her costumes. She was a finalist in hit like a girl drum competition (under 18) at 7 then won HLAG at 9 in 2018. Also in Finland, Spain, Vegas us. She also played songs with 5 adult bands on tv shows, festival’s, clubs. She wanted a band so her Father found some girls from different towns with her ability to play with and formed The SiXsters . A New York nonprofit (with N Y school of rock ?) funds tweens & teens to play Benefit concerts to raise $ for children’s charities. Funded them to play around Ukraine & more recently Bush Hall London & Glastonbury. They are now living in Essen Germany after fleeing and regrouping. (Katya’s house got bombed). Two members had to return to Ukraine and they have found two other displaced girls. 2024 they are Katya 15 drummer, Polina 16 bass, Maria 17 vocals and rhythm guitar, Anya 21 lead guitar, Sofia ? Keys. Since relocating they have released 2 new Albums in English and have another waiting. They have concerts lined up for summer. They go to School, language school and college. Katya’s father does the, mixing, recording, filming, lighting, driving. Nice reaction thanks.

Thanks for the reaction. I will recommend The Pretty Reckless. Another female led band. So many good songs hard to list which one to pick. Make Me Wanna Die, Take Me Down, 25, Only Love Can Save Me Now are just a few. Since you like going in blind I will let you discover the story about Taylor the lead singer.
