This Antlion is a Devious, Cold-Blooded Killer
Ойын-сауық
Antlions will hide under the sand, undetected, and then emerge to ambush a nearby insect. But it’s the sheer nonchalance with which they discard the corpse afterwards that is especially chilling.

When I was around 10-12 years old, we used to play with these tiny predators. There are lot of such sand depressions especially under banyan tree. We used to take handful of the sand to take these insects in our hand. But never thought that these are so deadly for other insects. Until today I was not aware why they were making such kind of sand pits.

Haha, I remember doing that. I would scoop them up and put them in a fellow Antlion's funnel. Sometimes you'd get a fight, some were craftier than others and manage to escape. It was fun when I would just be bored in the woods.
The first few seconds looks like a miniature version of those alien things in the movie "Enemy Mine". And the picture around 0.28 looks a LOT like the things Kahn used in Star Trek Wrath of Kahn!
Incredible creation, every living thing no matter how small or seemingly insignificant is an expert at being itself 😊

Catching an Antlion is also part of my childhood days. it is fun to watch when they walk backwards
The filming is immaculate!
Can we take a moment and realize the classical music they was playing when the ant was being tossed around!😂😂😂 It fit so perfectly.
Soooo dramatic! The narrator’s narrating, the slow motion, the camera close-up, and the piano background music...just wow! And all that for only an antlion!!! Masterpiece!!!

The sudden logo of 'IT'S BRIGHTER HERE' at the end of the clip after the traumatizing maelstrom of horrifyingly torturous insect death, makes me smile reassuredly about a future with the Smithsonian Channel.
