This Ancient Hermetic Law Governs All Planes Of Existence

The hermetic tradition has long been concerned with the relationship between the inner world of our consciousness and the outer world of nature, between the microcosm and the macrocosm, the below and the above, the material and the spiritual, the centric and the peripheral.
The hermetic worldview held by figures such as Pythagoras, Plato, the Stoics, and Renaissance alchemists such as Robert Fludd and Paracelsus pictured a great chain of being linking our inner spark of consciousness, with all the facets of the Great World.
This world was described as a platonic metaphysical clockwork, through which our inner world was linked by means of a hierarchy of beings and planes to the highest unity of the Divine.
The patterns of the microcosm and macrocosm are all around us, whether we experience them in nature, or in our own bodies, they are always there, and they will still be around long after we are dead.

I think the philosophers of old had a greater understanding of the universe and humanity's role from a metaphysical perspective. This could be said to be the opposite of the current approach, which is the physical-reductionist perspective, and which seems to suggest an alignment with hermetic principles. The reasons and circumstances surrounding our loss of the metaphysical ways are development to the point of impasse of understanding inherent to physical form, it's scientific counterpart being the impasse between general relativity and quantum mechanics.

I agree that these ideas have persisted into our modern times but are not readily taught to the masses. I think it's intentional for sure. Enlightened and educated masses would not fall for the same forms of distraction and misdirection that are used to direct the populous in modern times. It all comes down to greed and pride if you ask me. Those with knowledge and power use it to gain an edge above thier competition. They do not believe sharing that edge benefits them. So it is withheld from the general population. Hidden in banned books and vilified so as to dissuade common people from seeking out the "forbidden knowledge".

It is so obvious, that you might not notice it. Don't walk a way, that is meant for someone else. I was raised Roman Catholic and baptized in the Byzantine faith. But for as long as I can remember I have had thoughts that align with a great deal of your video. I do not study philosophy, and do not follow nor study any religion. As the years went on my thoughts on this continued to evolve into my current thoughts, and until today I have never known about Hermetic Law. The curious irony is that videos such as yours are not even close to what I look for on YT. I watch Korean cooking videos and those on history, animals and gardening. So, i find it interesting that this video randomly popped up this morning after a day spent with friends discussing those who have passed on in our lives and our connections to them. Your video packages up my thoughts beautifully and presents it in a way that I simply cannot explain to anyone myself. I will start reading these teachings to learn more and see how closely they do align on a deeper level. Thank you for your work on this.

Concerning your question whether some of our forefathers understood the world in a deeper sense and when we lost our way, I have to say this: yes, I think all in all they did, especially in the Asian countries (especially Hinduism come to mind) where the spiritual concepts of the world soul and unification (Satori/Moksha) seem to have found their clearest expression. Now to your second querry, I think we lost our way kind of threefold: 1. We gradually separated ourselves from nature 2. We gradually separated ourselves from death ( meaning, normally we aren‘t confronted with seeing dead bodies an regular basis/ we don‘t think about our own death as much since we tend to live longer) 3. we exchanged spiritual progress with technological progress, meaning nowadays many people think that technology alone is enough to improve personal well-being and create a better future: The machine is seen as our salvation and not the world spirit. To sum up, gradually we have started to care more about the well-being of our physical existence ( body) by sacrificing our spiritual well being…and maybe even true reason why we are here….

I had two NDEs...one at the age of 3 from a near drowning and the other at the age of 7 from electrocution via an exposed wire. The first experience is extremely abstract and more of a cascading multitude of images and feelings, the second was quite profound and was more real than this supposed material reality. My first thought upon being "revived" was that all living things are the means by which the One experiences consciousness...the awareness that it IS...and all conscious beings/entities/energies throughout the cosmos is the One's "body" by which It's Will is given necessity and action. That's not to say we are without a will of our own, but rather, our will is the One's Will and the One's Will is our own. There exists no degree of separation in the same way that reality cannot exist without atoms and an observer. Anyway, wanted to share that since it is relevant here. Your content is absolutely amazing and I look forward to each and everyone.

I think at one point our collective human consciousness viewed the world in a far more spiritualistic way with far less reason, and at some point following the renaissance we overcorrected for this by viewing the world in an overly materialistic, rational world view with far less spirituality, peaking in our modern age and the internet. I do think however that slowly but surely, thanks to content like this and mass discontent with our current ways of living, the human consciousness is beginning to stabilize and correct between the rational and spiritual view of the world. This is why I have optimism for the future.

I believe the Gnostics and Greeks were some of the last to have access to the ancient knowledge. I cannot help but think that this planet is a school and a playground. But I think you hit it right on the nose... how can our soul possibly grow without strife, without conflict and tribulations? You are absolutely correct, it is a school and a playground, and the fact you even suspect it's all for the growth of our souls puts you at an advantage! I used to despair over the seemingly rampant evil and all that nonsense, then I realized that it's just part of the process, it's necessary. But it's not who I am. Much love.

From what I understand about the vague historical timeline available is that the knowledge was once far more widespread and commonly understood, until the Roman priests, in their pursuit of a highly ordered, materially driven society began removing (occulting) all of the knowledge that gave us this deeper understanding of ourselves. By declaring their Universal Church as the sole authority of the teaching of Christ (consciousness), they created a system in which humans serve their material purpose, while relying on "experts" to conduct their affairs and understanding of them. This is why the occult is "dangerous" because a common understanding of that knowledge would give people the ability to do for themselves what the experts exist to do for us. This is why I see the allegory of the book 1984 not describing a future state of humanity, but one that already happened in our past, and without an outside perspective, cannot be seen or felt by most because it is completely normalized and no one knows any better to say otherwise. This is why it's popular to look down upon and be suspicious of those who do not "take part in society" the way our schools train us to; to work our job, make our money, spend our money, drink our beer, take our meds, watch the popular TV show, pay our taxes, don't rock the boat too much, follow orders, agree with the experts, and just fit in until you die. Truly knowing oneself is dangerous to the system of dependency, because to know thyself is to know the universe and the gods. The materialists behind the curtain acting as our benefactors know well that what isn't known isn't real and doesn't exist in the mind, and what you know that others do not know can be inverted and utilized to manipulate those who do not know, like how your everyday scam artist operates.

Sadly, this beautiful video was bound to be tarnished by this kind of comments. Its not "the Roman Priests" the ones who push the putrid materialistic view that rules modern society. In fact, the Universal Church is one of the few institutions that guards and promotes the Truth in modern society, thats why the later sees The Church as an enemy. Proof of this is the fact that many authors mentioned in this video were members of the Universal Church, and its thanks to this Church that those books were kept to this day. Furthermore, the so called "secret societies" would be a better culprit to look for if you want to blame a specific someone for the modern lack of spirituality.

I like how you mentioned Adveita Vedanta, all of the mystery traditions of the West can be linked to Advaita in essense. India has had this knowledge for centuries, and alot of it is not even in secret, and from that land has produced countless Masters, and beings who have reached the highest “degrees”. The philosophical and practical wealth of knowledge that the Vedas has to offer is incredible. And the wealth of Masters as well. According to the Vedas the reason this knowledge is “lost” to the masses is because we are now in the Kali Yuga, the further into this Age the more darkness. The same that happened to Atlantis, Limuria, etc. but it is also a huge opportunity for the spiritual aspirant to progress very quickly, as there is alot of work that can be done, alot of tests that can be passed if we walk the path. It is a difficult age but for this same reason it is the age that alot of evolution can happen because of how intense the spiritual battle is.

When I tried studying comparative religion and got into the more esoteric bits I could not help but recall every first principle or axiom in the western esoteric tradition is mirrored and in some ways may have even been adopted from the east, specifically India. Although I am a westerner I have to lean on the traditions that mirror the symbols I've grown up with in my culture but I've also learned that through many cultural upheavals and, thousands of years of political control and religious partisanship bordering on continental warfare, that our tradition as westerners is fragmented and buried underneath our own history. Whereas India, probably for it's large variety of religious and philosophical systems did not undergoe the same level of religious partisanship or political involvement in Indian tradition. Our understanding of Indian religion and philosophy is very poor and recent, the translations Schopenhauer and Nietzche were reading were not the best and it seems only now are we getting better translations and better scholarship with less bias and more genuine interest. It's the wisdom of the east that helps me understand and recover and put back together the unfortunately hidden away wisdom of the west and it although the Theosophists were annoying and over-romantic and the American hippies too idealistic and ungrounded, there's still many generations to go till we can build a bridge of solid corresponding ideas that bridge east and west. :)

@@kangaroocaliphate1577 yea I sometimes hypothesize that alot of the knowledge from western esotericism comes directly from India. And because of lack of understanding and poor translations of vedic / yogic scriptures, its not always fully appreciated for the depth of wisdom that it is. India has produced so much wealth of knowledge and schools such as Adveita, Sankya, Tantra, Kashmir Shaivism, each essentially expressing the same ultimate truths. And what amazes me the most is not only the knowledge that India has provided but the amount of Masters that it has produced. And many of the western philosophers and mystics learned in India. Even Blavatsky said the majority of the knowledge she gathered to create her movement came directly from the Vedas. India has the highest peaks on the planet, the Himalayas, and is considered to have the crown chakra for this planet, i believe theres a correlation between the highest mountain range and this phenomenon of the wisdom that comes from there as its depicted in the symbolism of Shiva, the Ganges river is flowing out from the crown of his head showing the fountain of wisdom. So this may symbolize the continent which hold the Himalayas contains the fountain ⛲️ of which this wisdom flows from.

I like to add, that symbolism is both metaphorical and literal, as the ganges flows out of his head, being a symbol for the source of the Ganges is the peaks of the Himalayas, the crown chakra of Earth. But also a symbol for the wisdom lies within us, that flows out from us at the hights of our conciousness as we are Shiva: the Soul of the World.

All I know, is that a lot of smart people, and well accomplished artists etc seem to have a disproportionate amount of interest in the mysticism of the past. Alchemy most notably. It seems to me there may be something of substance in these frameworks if it results in a higher degree of “success” in the material world. Infact this is how I stumbled into this section of philosophy and mysticism, searching for patterns in the universe so that I may leverage them to my material gain. (Perhaps I’m just autistic and looking for patterns where they don’t exist, like many artists do)

He may have dismissed the metaphysical implications, but that we are intimately connected with "All This" was quite evident to him as I'm sure it is to many other scientific minds, and myself.

My experience with the cosmos goes like this: Through some moments where circumstances deprived me from the power of my worldview(?) I found my spirit settling now instead of escaping to a better place or somewhere to future and past tense. Felt as in it's whole an ecstatic eternity flood me from deep within. The outside embraced me lovingly in a way that I imagine parents could. Though soon my conditioned mind and ego always reconquered this state of peace and drove me back into sadness, fear and depression. Nonetheless that moments sparked like something I've had forgotten and led to teach me there's power in breathing, there's connection in motion. Everything I consume does resonate with my body and spirit. I'm thankful for this journey home through earth among a loving and devine consiousness that has everything breathe, move and belong.

I don't think it's fair to discount science and say that it is in opposition to the mystic arts. If mysticism is about understanding oneself and the universe, then science is perfectly inline with mysticism. Science in it's reliance upon facts finds itself in a place more agreeable with the bulk of humanity, regardless of personal spiritual background. Even science has begun to question the existence of free will, which is something that most western spirituality has managed to push under the rug in favor of the paradigm of free will. A lot of people like to confuse science's ideals and assume it is against the divine or against the supernatural, when it is simply that science cannot say anything one way or the other about it.

Hey, Great video! Been following your stuff for a while. In my understanding, the belief in Free Will is necessary for the pursuit. It is a kind of active listening, but you cannot be truly active unless you authentically believe you are determining your own course of action. And even after an experience of submission to a calling, the course of action must be pursued with active determination. To abandon a belief in Free Will risks letting yourself off the hook too easily. It is a meaningful choice that you continually make. But sure, in the human life, there are countless dynamics which configure many aspects of our mental life. In fact, our mental life is mostly populated by deterministic processes. Emotions, for example arise as deterministic processes. Then our consciousness, which is the non-deterministic component of our mind, encounters them. That habitual encounter can form patterns, so the life of the mind is a complex interplay of self-direction and biophysical (mechanistic/determinist) feedback over which we merely spectate. And again, at the highest levels of spiritual practice, we become spectators to ourselves, so, in a sense, abandoning our free will. So yes, in sense, I suppose you could say that the pursuit is to use Free Will in order to transcend Free Will, for limited durations. But do deny the Free Will from the outset seems, to me, to be extremely pernicious.

"We are a way for the cosmos to know itself" - Carl Sagan 💜 Personally, I think viewing the world through the method of science is crucial to learning, even in the realm of spiritualism. It will absolutely difficult to link science and spirituality but I believe there is a harmoniously beautiful link between the two we have yet to figure out. Experiments in quantum mechanics and theoretical physics are actually beginning to form this link. One aspect of is this was an article I read hypothesizing that even single celled organisms "experience" reality through vibrations in their microtubial structure. Other studies in quantum mechanics have began to hint that consciousness IS universal and that each of us are essentially radios that tune into cosmic frequencies. So, on a final note, I think science and mysticism are 2 explanatory sides of the same philosophical coin.

After the Big Bang, galaxies eventually formed, then suns were created within these galaxies, planets were then created around the suns and life was created on Earth - and most likely millions of other planets - where conditions for it was favourable. It's undeniable that we are part of the universe and the universe is part of us.

Fundamentally, I believe it's just as true as ever that we are microcosm of the universe. It doesn't explain much at all about how anything works and why, but when examining the universe scientifically, and ourselves, it simply seems unavoidable that we are microcosm.

Thank you. Beautiful.i definitely think a lot of philosophers of old, as a whole, probably had greater wisdom of things. Since present day science seems to be so concerned with materialism and consumerism, than it does the pure pursuit of knowledge and wisdom for the sake of humanity and not, seemingly, so much, the sake of profit. But I'm sure there are still wise ones. ☺️

  • @MichaelMahoney10

I think the materialist world view is the main culprit for the departure from a more ancient understanding of the universe and our place in it. Developments and discoveries in science lead to huge technological advancements and the creation and proliferation of complex machines into every area of society. Living in such a world, where machines are ubiquitous, its reasonable to make the connection between the mechanistic organization of those machines and the natural world around us, like the consistent and recurring celestial movements of the planets and the complex and systematic organization of living organisms. As more people make that connection and that worldview becomes dominant, it hardens into dogma and becomes more difficult to question or challenge. What most people overlooked in regards to that worldview is that it is just a metaphor and is based on assumptions that no one feels the need to examine. Materialism supposes that life and the natural world is LIKE A MACHINE and considers itself to be rational, discrediting the equally, perhaps more rational metaphor of the universe being LIKE AN ORGANISM

@@michaelmccarthy2369I'm not sure what you're going through, but I've noticed you've been posting quite dark comments on people's posts on this video. You need to learn that fear and desire is what keeps the veil of illusion over knowing your true self. If you are afraid of dying or anything of the sort, then I suggest that you sit down and pick a quiet time to really look inside yourself and ask 'who am I?'. The answer is within you I promise you. There is no need to be afraid of anything at all. Don't allow your mind to dismiss this message as 'mystical' or 'demonic' and lie. Satan/Diablo/Maya represents illusion itself, a.k.a Ignorance. Ignorance of your true nature, ignorance of the true reality. Allow yourself to surrender and peacefully accept the happenings in your mind without attachment and the ever-changing world and it's dualistic nature. Peace is within you my friend, you just need to look within.

In response to your question on why we might have lost touch with the original ideas and methods of pursuing the idea of micro and macrocosm or just general esoteric ideas, I say this a lot, but I genuinely believe that we have collectively become too shackled by the idea of our own mortality and ego, and instead look to focus on things we commonly see as tangible rather than exercise the idea that there could be more to life. I don’t have much else to say but I loved the video man!!

I recently had a breakthrough, any thoughts? "It is as if the spirit imprints itself in a flow, a rhythm to express itself in the multiple states of being: an indefinite multitude of symbolic representations of a spiritual matrix, and depending on how closely they are coordinated to this flow, can be more or less close to their own essence. Our lives are reflections, like the shadows in Plato's cave, symbolic expressions of reality and in our dimension we are completely uncoordinated. Not only are we not in the flow, we do not even know it exists. We are dancers without rhythm performing in a clumsy, dishevelled pantomime. All mental constructions, systems of assumptions, beliefs and resulting actions are but surrogates for a correct 'performance', symbolically in line with the flow. They are basically clueless attempts to reconnect with the essence. I am beginning to understand why so much emphasis was placed on rituals and symbols in so many ancient spiritual traditions: they are like gateways to the spirit, everything that has symbolic value is not accidental, it has a specific purpose. On an energetic/spiritual level everything is specifically designed to co-ordinate with the flow of the spirit, there is a kind of science of symbols behind spiritual rituals."

Perhaps over time as language changes, things become lost in translation. And also where snippets of occult information are shared so widely which are only surface deep, the intended meaning becomes more and more convoluted over time. As for when it had started to become like this. I've always thought at around 1900, as it became more widely spread it is subject to man's interpretation and in similar fashion to the Christians many churches, divided by man's interpertation over snippets of the Bible.
